They sold me a fake Morgan Dollar, and then said they did not believe me and it did not come from their shop. On Friday 1/12 I purchased 20 Morgans and 2 Peace Dollars in person. I called on Monday 1/15 and told them I believed one of the 20 Morgans they sold me was not right. They said bring it in, if it was not right they would replace it. I went in later on 1/15 with all 20 Morgan Dollars and showed them them the 1 coin I believed to be fake. They tested it and it was fake. They then told me they did not believe me, and that I did not buy the coin from them. They held all of my coins away from my reach and discussed the situation internally. After just a few moments they brought all of my coins back along with an additional real Morgan they offered to trade me for the fake. I told them I did not appreciate being told they did not believe me. I told them they were definitely keeping the fake and they could also keep the coin they offered. I immediately left with only 19 Morgans. .... Addendum after shop's response. The statement that they have provided on Google is false. The customer service rep (same person who checked me out on 1/12) did not utter the words "it was an obvious fake" or "would be surprised it would have been put in with the genuine dollars." When he confirmed my suspicion that it was fake I asked him "what are we going to do about it" and he said "It is your coin" to which I responded "I bought it here." From there he said "I don't believe you" and grabbed all the coins I brought in and walked away from the counter to discuss with another person. It was not a good feeling to be in the store at all once they stated they didn't believe me and grabbed my coins. The other individual involved in their internal discussion was the person who helped me shop on 1/12 and did not have any interaction with me at all on 1/15, he did not address me or say any words at any volume I could hear. When the customer service rep came back to the counter to offer me a real one I responded in a standard speaking volume and tone "I do not appreciate you telling me that that you don't believe me," with absolutely no yelling. I rejected their replacement offer due to the way I was treated and the way it made me feel. I stated that they would be keeping both the fake and their replacement offering in a standard speaking volume and tone and turned to leave without further discussion once I had access to my coins again. The customer service rep was attempting to verbally address me further while I made the 2 to 3 steps toward and out the door over 2...
Read moreIf you want to know the difference between being ripped off and being treated fairly, this is it.
I had a 14K gold chain and after calling around, I ran into a shop that tried to lowball me with a $280 offer while hiding behind “calibrated scales” talk. Then I called Louisville Numismatic Exchange — and the experience couldn’t have been more different.
From the moment I called, they gave me straight numbers, no games, no BS. When I arrived, a gentleman named Mark took me to the side, weighed my chain in front of me, and within 2 minutes I had my cash in hand. No haggling, no stalling, no funny business. I literally put a dime in my parking meter, and I was back to my car with 2 minutes to spare.
Most importantly: they paid me over $540 on a chain with a melt value around $600 — that’s nearly 90% of spot price, which is basically as good as it gets outside of sending to a refinery. Fair, transparent, lightning-fast service.
Bottom line: If you’ve got gold, coins, or jewelry to sell, skip the pawn shops and shady buyers. Go straight to Louisville Numismatic Exchange and ask for Mark. Honest, professional, and efficient — this is the kind of place you want...
Read moreWalked in for an appraisal of junk silver/broken jewelry and was given a chilly reception. The elderly man attending me was practically throwing the pieces not worth anything back onto the counter at me, and slid the sales receipt so it almost fell to the floor. They'll give you a fair value for precious metals but don't expect basic respect.
An Addendum; Just found out they also lied to me. The same man who was tossing pieces back at me told me 3 items were plated and not worth anything. Didn't even consider one item, verbally stating "That can't be anything". I took them to Davis jewelers and was told they were 10k gold and 14k white gold with a Natural Black Diamond. Viciously Disappointed in the Service provided by...
