A great pub in the heart of downtown. First a recommendation, on the weekend ensure you either have a reservation, call ahead, or not have a problem waiting. We waited an hour but it was worth it. When first showed up ~6pm it was full, wait was 45-1 hour, ours was about an hour. Hostess was nice and when we were seated were near the front door so could hear that they stayed busy. We started with cheese curds which came with a tomato dipping sauce which was a nice addition to the curds. The breading was light and they weren't oily like you run into at some places. Two of us had root beer to drink (can't remember the brand but in a bottle and sweetened with sugar. I opted for the bangers and mash. The sausages were different but very good. One was wild boar and the other was elk, so be warned in case you aren't into game but it wasn't gamey in the taste and the gravy it comes with is a nice brown gravy. The mash is not standard mashed potatoes but a croquette. My daughter had the chicken fried chicken with side of garlic mashed potatoes and fries. Came with 4 pieces of chicken, a nice crispy breading covered in a tasty white gravy, they offer extra gravy which we regret not ordering as it's that good . The potatoes are pub style which to me means a bit thicker and minimally mixed but leaves great flavor to not have the added liquid that can bland them out if not properly seasoned. Even the fries (potato wedges) were good, especially dipped in the gravy. Definitely a huge portion that could be shared by two. My wife had the Gorgonzola carbonara. Highly recommend this dish if in the mood for pasta, another one that could be shared (or take half home for lunch tomorrow). The pasta was properly cooked where not too firm or too soft, flavors between the ingredients was well balanced (nothing over powered anything else). The Gorgonzola made the sauce creamy and was not a forceful flavor in the dish. For dessert we had the brownie sundae and bourbon pecan pie. We recommend both and both were quite sharable due to the large portions. The brownie sundae had brownies that were fudgy with a crispy bottom and paired well with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The pecan pie with ice cream and it was perfect. The crust flavorful and flaky and the following was creamy and full of pecans. Definitely save room for dessert. The service was very good, our waitress was attentive and all of the staff that checked on us was courteous and friendly. Overall a great place for...
Read moreThis one is hard for me, I believe it’s more of an issue with the staff than the quality of the restaurant. My wife and I have been regulars of Henry’s since 2013/14. This has been our “date night” or “special occasion” restaurant for years. Love the food and have always told everyone we know that it’s the best restaurant in Loveland….until this Saturday. We had one of the absolute worst experiences. We set in the bar, because the dinning room was full. Our bartender Pepper was frantically running around informing her tables that she was too busy and had too many drinks to make. Every thing she said was a pre loaded excuse. We sat down the same time as two other small two tops. We are pretty easy going as we have both worked extensively in service. Historically we have been fine with the service in the bar. Well the rest of the bar fills up. Hearing her “overwhelmed” speech over and over. 😳. We did get our appetizer. And at first seemed to be flowing. Then we wait. We just ordered sandwiches, w cup of soup. Not that tough of an order. She came over several times and just kept saying “I don’t know”. Then she would go back to the kitchen and come back saying she has no idea what’s happening. That was quite obvious as we are now on an hour wait for sandwiches. At this point we are visibly frustrated and the people around us were apologizing that they got their food before us. We asked to speak to the manager and Pepper acted like it was our fault and tried telling the manager that we were being a problem. The manager came up and we just asked to leave. Clearly a miss on this one. She seemed to understand and nodded we were ok to leave. Then Pepper started to get loud and yell at us as we were leaving that we owed her for the Brussel Sprouts. We kind of felt that that might be taken care of under the circumstances. (If not, I will absolutely come in and pay for the app). We just wanted to leave and really didn’t have an appetite after the situation. Pepper still proceeded to yell down the hallway that we have to pay for the app. Then got into a yelling match with my wife. We were told to never come back. So are banned from Henry’s because she’s a bad bartender? All in all, she was oblivious that mistakes were made, proceeded to blame any issues on us. Just an awful experience, and I’m not sure if I’m even welcome to come back. Definitely don’t feel welcome in the bar. 10 years of one of my favorite restaurants...
Read moreProbably my only 5-star angry review to a place I’ll never go back to due to rude customer service.
I usually order here once (sometimes twice) a week with salad and extra crotons. Lately, my order has wrong, but I’ve ignored it. After managing a restaurant for two years, I know stuff happens. I always tip, and leave messages on my receipts. And often call management to compliment the staff/cooks (I mean, they are amazing — best service in CO). I usually order 2-3 side of croutons, and more than half of the times, offer to pay more for the extra. The last two times, I got an order with a little, or none. So tonight when I picked up the order, I asked the waitress for an extra side. The person at the expo (manager? Idk) came out and tried to argue me that I should make these requests on the phone. I told him I usually do, and he proceeded to chastise me over ‘doing things last minute’. I tried to tell him that I usually do give the orders on the phone, but he just kept going. I accidentally dropped my extra dressing, and got really embarrassed. I got overwhelmed so I told him I’d never come back and just ran out.
I understand the pandemic has hit service workers incredibly hard. I get it. But after being a loyal customer, and going out of my way to make sure that the amazing people here get recognized, I feel like I didn’t deserve this projection from this employee. It was very off-putting. Thiz person should certainly apologize, and regardless of being a regular, I couldn’t imagine being rude to a customer and trying to fight a customer like this… when I was the GM of a restaurant, I would have fired an employee on the spot for trying to bully a customer.
Otherwise, it’s the best food in all of Northern Colorado, The best wait staff, and even the hosts are amazing. I’ve met one of the chefs once, and even they are incredible. 10/10. They deserve so much recognition for the amazing work they do. Tonight‘s interaction with this rude person does not deserve to take away...
