Great Service, Unique Approach to Ice Cream
Rating: ââââ
I recently visited Josh and John ice cream, and I must say, the experience was quite unique. While there were a couple of unusual aspects, overall, it was a delightful visit.
Let's start with the positives. The service at Josh and John was exceptional. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and eager to assist. They were knowledgeable about their products and happily answered all my questions. Their genuine enthusiasm for ice cream was infectious and added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere.
Now, on to the intriguing parts. When I stepped into the shop, I was surprised not to see any visible ice cream flavors. It's not something I'm used to when visiting an ice cream parlor, and it initially caught me off guard. However, the staff quickly stepped in and guided me through the selection process. They described each flavor with vivid detail, allowing me to make an informed decision. While it was an unconventional approach, I appreciated their efforts to ensure I had a satisfying experience.
Another distinctive feature was their practice of weighing the ice cream cups. It was evident that they took great care to ensure each serving matched the precise weight indicated on the cup. While I understand this attention to detail for consistency, I have never encountered this method at an ice cream shop before. It added a touch of precision to the experience, although it did feel a bit unusual.
Now, let's talk about the ice cream itself. The flavors I sampled were truly delicious. The textures were smooth and creamy, and the taste was rich and flavorful. From classic favorites to unique creations, Josh and John's ice cream selection impressed me. I particularly enjoyed the balanced sweetness and the quality of the ingredients used. Despite not being able to visually see the flavors beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality.
In summary, my visit to Josh and John ice cream was a positive one. The exceptional service, combined with the delicious flavors, made for a memorable experience. However, the unconventional practice of not displaying the flavors and weighing the cups might be a minor drawback for some. Nonetheless, if you're willing to step out of the traditional ice cream parlor experience and try something different, Josh and John is definitely worth a visit.
Note: It's always a good idea to check if the shop has made any changes to their practices since my review, as things can...
Read moreThe staff was super kind and friendly. The shop was clean and pleasant. The ice cream wasnât spectacular. I tried a couple flavors and none of them were particularly flavorful or didnât taste good enough to justify the expense. I ended up getting their Dutch Chocolate and Vanilla Bean. Donât get me wrong, itâs not bad. It just seemed as good as some premium grocery store brands. I appreciate their wholesome ingredients and dairy free options, but outside of that there are some better local options that offer fresh ice cream made onsite (I confirmed with the staff that all Josh and Johnâs ice cream is made in Colorado Springs). Walrus Ice Cream in FoCo and ParadIce Cream in Loveland are great family owned spots that make their own ice cream and have some really unique flavors. Sweet Cow has to be my favorite Colorado ice cream. All of their core flavors are made onsite at their locations with their rotating flavors still being made in-shop across different locations and then shared to all locations. The Longmont location isnât too far and is incredible. Scrumptious is another shop that deserves an honorable mention. All that to say, itâs cool Loveland has a new option for ice cream. I just wish it was...
Read moreI went to J&Js the other day for a late night treat. I wasn't expecting to fall madly in love on this random Tuesday in November but here we are. I got a scoop of the pumpkin pie flavor of the month. It was absolutely delicious and full of crunchy little crust pieces. While the pumpkin pie was good it's definitely not the star of the faithful night. As I was walking out the door I saw the pint flavors and that's when I saw my newest new favorite thing... â¨Sweet Potato Marshmallow⨠I was a little hesitant at first but I thought "what could go wrong, I'll give it a chance". After having it in my freezer for the night I pulled it out for a little breakfast treat. I have tried many many ice creams in my life (Pandam and green chili chocolate to name a few) but none have ever come close to the sweet potato marshmallow flavor. If this ice cream was a man it would be Jamie Fraser from outlander. I don't know how I will cope when it is replaced by a Christmas flavor. Moral of the story is it is very very good and you should always try the questionable flavor. PS. Dear John or John, please make the Sweet Potato Marshmallow flavor a regular year...
