I had grown up ordering the "extra tomato" pizza at DeLorenzo's of Hudson Street and loved it so much that we would wait in line for hours with a line so long that it went outside, down the block and around the corner just to get in the door, regardless of weather (rain/snow/15 degrees or 100 degrees). So I was very much disappointed and surprised to learn that they closed/retired in the years I had been away from the area. So when I noticed the DeLorenzo's sign from the supermarket parking lot, and subsequently googled it, I was delighted to learn that it was the same DeLorenzo's from Hudson Street. I ordered the same thing we always got growing up: with "extra tomato." I arrived around 8:30 pm, with no line in front of me and visible open tables available, to request a to go order, and they told me that it would take 20-30 minutes at most. I'm not sure how long in actually took, but it seemed to be substantially faster than that. (And in this one there are places to sit indoors while you wait.) When I opened the box, I was delighted that the pizza looked the same as I remembered with the unique rectangular slices etc, (but I think the chunks of tomatoes are smaller here). It certainly had similarities to the Hudson St pizza, but unfortunately the taste overall was simply average, not any place I would choose to go to/order from again especially for the price. It was definitely anticlimactic after being so eager to get to eat DeLorenzo's again after so long. Every time I lifted a slice to eat I would notice that my hand would be covered in black charcoal flakes, even after I wiped them off my hand, (which isn't healthy; I think I've read that eating burnt toast or anything with burnt spots like that is a major way of consuming cancer-causing carcinogens ...nevertheless, despite the unappealing charcoal flakes, I personally still found the pizza quite edible enough to eat the entirety of). The pizza has a lightness and mildness to it, and it's worth noting that it is not very filling, maybe since it is thin crust. (Whereas I usually order 2 slices of pizza, maybe 3, here I ordered a small --which they said came out bigger than usual-- and I ate the entirety of it in one sitting by myself.) As for the staff: they were very kind and cheery/pleasant. And, unlike the Hudson St pizza place which didn't have a bathroom, I am quite sure that this one does (even though I didn't actually check and so can't guarantee it, but I would assume so because it seems more spacious and detail-oriented though still with a casual atmosphere). Let me put it this way/rate the pizza in this context: if the pizza were given free at an event, I would gladly and very appreciatively eat and enjoy it, but if I were to choose where to eat (whether I'm paying or whether anyone else with unlimited money is kindly paying and we are trying to decide on a pizza place), it would not be a place that I would choose or request. If you want a recommendation for a truly great tomato pie in the area, I would definitely say the best I've found in the area (which can be ordered by slice or the full pizza) is about 4 or 5 miles away from that DeLorenzo's location, called Dominick's Pizza (W Trenton Ave, Morrisville PA): order the "Brooklyn" pizza. Good luck;...
Read moreDeLorenzo’s in Yardley isn’t just a pizza place — it’s a place that feels like home. I’m lucky enough to be related to Matt Longo, but it doesn’t take being family to feel like family when you walk into this place. I’m in absolute awe of what he and his entire family have built here. The space itself is gorgeous. It’s truly one of the most beautiful pizza spots you’ll ever walk into and on some nights, they even have live music. It’s always BYOB, which makes it perfect for a relaxed night out with friends or family or the perfect setting for a shower, birthday or special occasion.
The food is hands-down the BEST tomato pie in the world. When my brother and his family fly in from California, the first thing we plan is: “When are we going to DeLorenzo’s?” My in-laws are even hooked, and when we get ourselves there, I always bring pies home for everyone. Their pepperoni is perfection — the kind that curls up into little cups filled with delicious pepperoni juice. Their salads are just as incredible. I’m a sucker for their seasonal burrata salad, which they change up with fresh, seasonal fruit, and the chopped salad is over the top. Every bite tastes fresh, balanced, and made with love.
We’ve celebrated so many family milestones here over the years, and even though we now live in South Jersey, it’s worth the drive every single time. My parents live near us now too, and they still make a point to go weekly because we all love it that much. Whether you’re a regular or it’s your first visit, you’ll walk through the doors and instantly feel like family — even if you aren’t.
DeLorenzo’s is special. It’s the kind of place you dream about between visits, and the kind of pizza that leaves you feeling great afterward. Absolute...
Read moreI hate to give them 3 stars because their pizza is the best in NJ/PA. But they need to figure out a way to fix some issues. #1 Nobody knows if you stand in the line on the left or see the cashier. If you're lucky, someone will come to you with a board to take your name. I've never seen that anywhere in America. #2 When you place your take out order and when your pizza is ready, someone needs to tell you that your pizza is ready. They don't do that. So the guy told me 25 minutes. It was really busy. I get that but 45 minutes later when I asked, the cashier said... What was your name again? Turns out my pizza had been ready sitting there getting cold. So that night we had cold pizza. Is it that difficult to say someone name when the pizza is ready? I mean they write your name on the box. This wasn't a mistake. That's a standard practice there because they didn't call anyone's name. But when people who came after me got their pizza, I realized, I need to be in the cashier's face which is rude but that's the only way you'll get hot pizza because no one is calling your name when your order is ready. As far as pizza goes.... It's absolutely delicious! Best sauce. Maybe beef up the crust a little because I can eat the entire large pie and be hungry in an hour. I'm a small guy so I can't imagine how much the big guys order there. Oh... I absolutely hate one thing about their pizza. The way they cut them. It looks like wax strips lol. Seriously.... Save the time and energy and just cut triangle pieces. We'll be back again but next time we'll breathe on the cashier's neck so we don't get cold pizza. The staff is very nice and professional. They know how to make pizza just need to figure out some common...
