Home Cookin' Carry Out — Restaurant in Lynchburg

I visited Lynchburg, VA with intentions of supporting excellent businesses who were also black-owned. Listen, I was most determined to find food that would make me dance when I ate it! Using a blog post from the town’s website, I made my list of places to visit- Home Cookin’ wasn’t on it. On a whim as we returned to our lodge, I googled “soul food”. Behold, Home Cookin’ came up, and it was in my area! It was a God deal. In fact, Home Cookin’s love-filled soul food inspired a praise dance as I ate it! Sooo good! Plus…Home Cookin’s staff was warm and welcoming- like I was their family visiting their home. Their service was quick, but I didn’t feel rushed. They even invited me to come back and see them again before I left town. I did! And here’s why: I could hardly contain my excitement for the opportunity to enjoy their home cooking again! Sooo good! Went to this “restaurant” yesterday. I got 3 plates, it was a good price 6.99 (meat, 2 sides, roll and drink). However, we walked in and the people were just not friendly. The lady was taking our orders and it just wasn’t very appealing the way she was running this business. The food was very dry, not fresh at all. They had no condiments for the food (salt, pepper, hot sauce etc). Then we asked about how much a piece of cake was, well it was 2.99 for a slice. Just regular cake!!!! To me this was not a “soul food” restaurant. No different than country cookin or any other restaurant. Sorry but I will not be going back. Plus you have no where to eat inside. Big turnoff, I love GOOD HOME COOKING SOUL FOOD. This place doesn’t meet it.

As I sit in my car eating this MARVELOUS food I just got from HOME COOKIN in lynchburgh Virginia....I said let me find out...lol.....I'm so glad I was told about it....the FODD IS DELICIOUS....I got the meatloaf, mac & cheese, and collard greens with cornbread. The macaroni and cheese was Hot and creamy and very tasty. The collard greens were seasoned to perfection. The meatloaf was hot and moist and seasoned just right. It's as good as my own homecookin....lol.... I was greeted at the door with a friendly face and the staff was very helpful as it was my first time there. We'll definately will be going back and telling all our friends. We absolutely...
