Mother Nature's Soul Food Vegan Restaurant — Restaurant in Lynchburg

I really wanted to like this place, but the serving sizes and customer service was very disappointing. We arrived after traveling for hours to meet an old friend and was looking forward to dining at a black-owned vegan restaurant (encouraged by the reviews). The menu they have online does not match the items they actually have available. So though i had decided what i wanted beforehand, i had to settle for what they had. We got the mushroom burger, "chicken" stripes and Mac and cheese. The woman taking our order was fair. Not really engaged or interested. Just fair. Chicken stripes and burger was okay.

THE SERVICE. The restaurant did not look set up for dining. There were tables and chairs, but personal items on the tables made me think it was take out only. It's not. The owner sat at one of the tables right next to ours while we were eating. We were the only people sitting and it's a small place so it made it kinda difficult to have a personal convo. Our friend met us there and we stayed for another 30 minutes. Towards the end of our stay the chef came from back and started watching a movie. Loudly. But we just talked over it. Then they told us they were closing and asked us to leave. It was 6:15pm and the place is listed online to close at 7pm.

THE FOOD: The Mac and cheese was $5 and was a small scoop in one of those Styrofoam containers. Not a lot for that price....

I recently traveled an hour to try Mother Nature's Soul Food Vegan Restaurant, and I am so glad I did! Finding quality vegan options that go beyond the usual burger and fries is nearly impossible, but this place is a game-changer. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, from traditional comfort food to hearty, flavorful meals that will leave your taste buds dancing and your belly full.

I had the chance to try several items, including the fish, jerk chicken, mushroom cheddar burger, yams, collard greens, and of course, cake. Each dish was absolutely incredible, far beyond my expectations. The flavors were rich, and every bite was a delightful surprise.

In addition to the amazing food, the service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. Now that I’ve discovered this gem, I’ll definitely be returning. My only suggestion is that they open a satellite location in Roanoke, VA, so I can stop by every day! We are here right now! This is the most delicious food I have ever tasted in Lynchburg! I love oxtail so much but rarely order it anywhere because I’ve tasted some of the best ever made. Until today! Who would’ve ever dreamed that the best oxtail I ever tasted would’ve been made from plants alone! Incredible! Wanda nailed the flavor, texture, savory aftertaste and aroma perfectly. So delicious. I’m finishing up and I’m telling you this is gonna do very well in my body. So healthy and so scrumptious. My husband ordered the veggie burger. He’s the connoisseur of veggie burgers and he was super happy and we both look forward to coming back… Again and again! Our sides and sauces were also fantastic! Thank you Wanda for sharing your culinary skills and talents with the world, and for your kind and welcoming heart. It has been a wonderful dining experience and a wonderful evening.
