This spot fills a much needed void of something close to a grocer downtown. I came to leave a good review but the owners responses on some of these are not a good look, yikes.
To the owner who replied to my review:
I took this from 4 stars to 1. Please read my initial comment saying it fits the need of something close to a grocer. I didn't say Trading Post was a grocery store. I had no bad thing to say about the place other than when I came to review, I noticed he's one of those nutty owners who tries to fight in the comments. Its not a good look, anyone with half a brain in business would understand.
It is concerning that we have incompetent and illiterate "business" owners in the community who are unable and unwilling to listen to the thoughts of the community in which they wish to serve. After all, this is a service for the community. If you are trying to get people in those doors maybe be less of a jerk to people leaving 4 star reviews? Service industry massively relies on networking. I don't expect this place to get far with someone like this...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience at the Trading Post Speakeasy.
I visited on a Saturday night and was shocked by how poor the customer service was. The staff acted like this was some exclusive, high-end club—despite the $10 cover and a vibe that’s honestly pretty average. They made guests wait in line for over 30 minutes, only to then say they weren’t letting anyone else in—even though the space inside looked nowhere near full.
It was clear they were picking and choosing who they allowed inside, and the overall attitude from the staff was rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming. For a place that’s trying to present itself as “elite,” it comes off as subpar at best. Not to mention the coffee/food is some of the worst downtown has to offer.
I’m genuinely concerned about how this business is being run and will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau and the Downtown Lynchburg Association. If you're looking for a night out with good energy and respectful service,...
Read moreAs a Texan, I fell in love with this place as soon as I saw a Bluebell ice-cream sign upon entering, shining like a beacon of hope for the tastebuds against an opposite wall. This business also sells bagged Texas tamales, of which this Mexican girl bought several. And the flavor did NOT disappoint, what a surprise to find authenticity so far from home. From the creaky wood floors to a worn Chesterfield sofa, this place has character and history. The owner and his wife were incredibly kind, accommodating, and down to earth people. My breve was tasty and they had options to serve my dietary restrictions. There’s a general store in the back with toiletries in stock and other necessities for those who may be visiting from out of town. Even the beautifully unique bathroom design left an imprint on my mind. I can’t wait to go back again and try more items...
