We were anxious to try this place after hearing good reviews from others. However, we had a negative experience and won't be going back.
I went with my husband and we ordered three dishes to share and a side of lumpia. We waited for a really long time for each of our dishes. They were all served at different times, and then they were served either lukewarm or at room temperature. It's not totally unusual in busy casual spots to have all of your dishes served at different times, but usually they are within minutes of each other and they are each served hot. In this case, none of the food was hot, and the place was not overly busy. It was about half full and there were quite a few people working there, but it only seemed like one guy was bringing out food.
Adobo- Lukewarm- The flavor of this was good but it should have been served hot. This and the lumpia(the only hot item) were served at the same time, with some lukewarm rice.
Lechon- Room temperature. I checked with others afterward and this is supposed to be served hot. This was served at least 10-15 minutes after the adobo. I've heard such rave reviews about this and maybe it would be better hot, but at the temperature it was served at, it was difficult to eat. It wasn't so much crunchy as it was kind of hard.
As we waited and waited for our food, I noticed they were bringing food to other tables that had been there for a lot longer, and tables that had arrived sooner as well. It was like there was no rhyme or reason to the order that food was delivered. Our server kept stopping by and asking if everything was OK in a pleasant manner, as if we were not waiting forever for our food.
Kare Kare- This was not served until we were basically done eating. It was also not very hot, and by this time the rice was completely cold. I liked the flavor, but my husband did not. It was advertised as "beef" but it was just large bones with a small amount of beef on the bones. This was extra annoying since we were basically ready to go before it arrived. We actually tried to cancel this dish after we had waited for like a half hour for it, but the server kind of acted surprised that we hadn't received it, and then confused about why we would want to cancel it, and I lost my nerve.
While we were eating, at one point the smell of cigarettes filled the restaurant. I looked over and someone's uncle was standing basically in the doorway (outside) smoking. Not out on the curb, not down the way - right outside the door, staring inside at the restaurant. As people came and went, he would shift and the smoke came inside. He himself stood in the doorway when no one was coming and going. I thought "oh well, they don't want to aggravate a customer by asking him to move" but no! It was a worker at the restaurant! Or maybe even the boss? When he was done smoking he came back inside and went right behind the counter. This was surprising, especially because the restaurant was very bright, clean and comfortable otherwise.
We finally decided we were done after the Kare Kare arrived and we had a few bites. By this time the rice was completely cold. We were ready to go, so the server asked if we wanted boxes and we declined even though we had only eaten less than half of our food. She seemed very perplexed by this. My husband was annoyed by the whole evening, and he's the one who eats most of our leftovers, so when he said he didn't want it, I decided to leave it. Honestly it was very off-putting by then, although it might have been OK if we had taken it home and heated it up.
The whole experience was so weird that I wasn't sure at the time if our expectations were off, or if there was something cultural I was missing (maybe the food was not supposed to be hot?) but I checked with others and the food is definitely supposed to be hot. So at the time I didn't say anything, and I just paid the bill and left, but it was a waste and we won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook 15+ minutes to get waited on in a not busy restaurant. To be told we could not get pansit (what we came for). We decided to get two orders of lumpia to go and come back for rheir pansit a different day. Took over half an hour and all people in the restaurant received their orders regardless of the fact that they had ordered later. WE sat, And sat. And sat, as everybody else enjoyed their food, which looked very good. I think the teenagers who had one, taken our order and two, cashed me out (two different boys) had not actually submitted our order. Btw, this after I had given a 20% tip on the order. I think it was maybe submitted after I inquired after other patrons had their food at least fifteen minutes. Nobody had told me why the wait. The restaurant was NOT full, there were numerous waitstaff on duty and not busy, no doordash/,to-go backups. The older lady tried to give me some sort of baked goods for the obvious long wait, which I respectfully declined. I said their food looked really good but I would unfortunately never return to try it because it was the worst service I had in a restaurant in the last ten years. I asked if I/we had done something wrong that made them not want to serve us and if that were the case they should have told us and asked us to leave. (We were not loud nor demanding nor whiny. Did we smell bad or something?). All I got was I"m sorry, no explanation. Second chance? I think NOT. I'm not going to wait 50+ minutes for lumpia again. Lunch would likely take three plus hours if that's any indication. I generally don't like to leave bad reviews of anything but this experience seemed that it was either deliberate behavior or plain sheer incompetence and thus deserves being called out. Very sad, because there was promise of future revenue from us. For dine-in, takeout and catering. Now, not a chance of any of that. Thanks for ruining lunch with my sister. Lumpia was okay but I'd honestly lost my appetite. I hope this review stings a bit because your staff deserves to feel miserable about the lost business it may cause. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter my prior issues with this franchise I swore I wouldn't go back but I was craving some pancit bihon and lumpia something fierce and had no idea where else I could go in the area. Big mistake!! I don't know why I thought it would be any different! So, let's get into what went wrong... the first thing was the pick up time. The app said one thing but then it kept getting pushed back. It was not long so not a big deal to be honest. This would not have affected me at all if everything else was not so poor. Then when I arrived I walked in and up to the counter where two people were working; a man and a woman. I was not greated. The woman finally half turns her head to me and asks if I'm picking up and I said yes I am. I gave her my name which she repeated back to me 3 times while staring at the ticket with my name clearly printed on it. Finally, she hands me my order. Then as I am standing there I saw this dessert in a cooler with a name on it but something I have never heard of much less tasted before so I said; "Excuse me ma'am? could you please tell me what this is exactly?" To which she replied, "Cassava" Then turned her back to me again; no thank you... no have a nice day.. nothing.. So, now I make it home to open the order and find the proteins are so overcooked it's atrocious!!! I ordered the pancit bihon with shrimp, pork, and chicken less celery and cabbage. It was supposed to be the family size but it did not look it at all! The taste of the dish overall was stale at best. I just don't understand. The only good part to the entire ordeal was there was such little protein in there it wasn't hard to pick it all out!! That's sad considering one has to pay extra for it! Now for the vegetable lumpia as they call it.. again, extremely overcooked and complete mush! I have nothing redeeming about this order. They didn't even bother providing utensils or napkins for us either. I'm sorry but I cannot recommend this place to anyone at this point and I firmly belive it is time for me to do some research and find another place local that makes pancit bihon...
