I'm giving five stars for originality and deliciousness. I saw this on Man v Food and decided to try it immediately. I've driven past it many times and though I like Katsu a lot, Lynnwood has a lot of not-so-great establishments and I am pretty cautious about eating anywhere in that city. There's a lot of shopping there and I can't tell you how many times we've shopped there all day and then opted to go elsewhere to eat because of the lack of good options. Don't get me wrong, there are a few good places but they are greatly outnumbered by crappy ones.
Katsu Burger is a local chain and has multiple locations. I tried the Mt. Fuji because that's what Casey Webb ate on M v F and I was intrigued. It has a pork cutlet, chicken breast, hamburger, all served with katsu style Panko breading, bacon and fried egg topped with pickles, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, wasabi mayo and Asian bbq sauce on a fresh, delicious bun. It was pretty huge and I only got through about half of it at the restaurant but it was so tasty, I went home, stretched out and put down the rest of it about two hours later. Of course, I attended a catered birthday party for a buddy that evening and Katsu chicken and kalbi were served there so I felt like I was going to explode by the time I was done with dinner and I was a little afraid to sneeze.
I took two of my kids with me. One ordered the pork Katsu Curry burger and the other ordered the beef Katsu burger and they shared an order of fries. The fries come with a cup of dipping sauce made in house. I love places that make their own sauces and the Nori-Ranch was so good we were dumping it on our burgers as well. My kids loved it but my daughter who ordered the pork Katsu curry felt like the curry flavor was a little too strong. she's had a lot of curry and likes it just fine so I would tend to believe her assessment.
I loved the pork and chicken katsu but not the beef. They use miso paste as a binder and I had a bad miso experience once so it might be that but in the future, I'm going to stick with the pork and the chicken. The prices were very reasonable and they had Jones Soda on tap. How cool is that? There's your local cred right there! The place was packed and steadily busy. The counter person was a bit slower than you want if there's a line all the way to the door but maybe she was new. It doesn't matter to me. We loved it and we'll be back a lot. It's also across the street from the mall, Costco, REI and Ross so the...

I must admit I really liked it a lot more of this time with new owners. However, no cash. Cards only.
I wanted to have a special night out. Some really popping flavors and I started trying to get over to one of my favorite sushi places and it was closed. So then I popped over to katsu burger after I tried looking at chops across the parking lot but it's burritos and I wasn't in the mood.
I read the katsu burger reviews and drove across the parking lot because this review said ' loved seaweed fries'. I thought 'I'm in'. So I got inside the door and I immediately asked the two gentlemen what they recommend and they said that any katsu burger or the teriyaki sauce burger and I chose the one with curry sauce and subbed cheddar for American cheese and no tomkatsu sauce.
the aroma, when it came, was so awesomely curry but taste was not as strong as I was expecting. So I went back and got another sauce of curry and decided to try the honey mustard, the nori ranch and the Japanese mayo along with a nori seaweed fries, which are excellent. Excellent meal all told.
Thanks Simon, I loved it. Hot, crispy so got to eat it right away.
Hot and crunchy is just the best way to experience this food. The katsu was perfectly cooked. Good job Simon. Golden crispy and flavorful. Easy to bite into the fresh veggies . just a real treat. Every bite seems like it highlighted a different flavor . You know, the red onions, that crispy lettuce slaw, sauce, with the breaded pork. I took the pickles out
but boy I sure had a lot of fun with the house made sauces. So I recommend you get a variety of sauces and try them all out. The curry was my favorite, especially when paired with a honey mustard. I got the nori ranch but it was ranch with seaweed flakes in it so that was kind of normal. But the Japanese mayo is melting your mouth and I really like the honey mustard. Thank you Ad, for your advice and service.
the honey, mustard, and curry sauces are my favorites, but I just really liked them all. I got just the home made sauces, unique to here.
So I'm glad I had an opportunity to taste test it and there's just a ton of fries and I was starving. Hadn't had anything to eat today except a piece of bread and some coffee but I tell you this was a meal and a half....
Read moreYou know how it is - you are hungry, but nothing sounds great. You keep scrolling through the Google Maps results for “Lunch Near Me” but you’ve been to them all and none of them is great enough to bust you out of the funk you feel when there is nothing new. That was the mood I was in when I stumbled on Katsu Burger. They have taken one of the great food inventions - the hamburger - and given it a Japanese twist. It was worth a try. They are at the end of a large shopping area with plenty of parking. It was raining, so I was glad to be able to find a spot near the door. I don’t know if it was because I was too early for the lunch rush or the food was too weird or there was something wrong with the place, but I had it all to myself. An indifferent kid waited patiently while I tried to figure out the menu. They have a variety of sandwich styles, each with a number of options. Then you get to pick from unusual fry types. Finally, the drink choices are strange flavors from a brand I have never heard of. I threw an imaginary dart and picked a katsu burger, seaweed fries and some kind of drink. A katsu burger starts out with a normal hamburger patty, then they cover it with panko bread crumbs and toss it in the deep fryer. What comes out is meaty and crunchy and delicious. The fried patty goes on a bun with lettuce and tomato and whatever sauce you pick. I went with teriyaki. The fries also start out normal. When they come out of the fryer, they are seasoned and stacked generously next to your sandwich. I had mine flavored with nori - the kind of seaweed that gets wrapped around sushi rolls. It’s an intriguing flavor that I enjoyed. The food is definitely unusual, but very tasty. The dining area is clean and comfortable. The prices are a bit high, but what isn’t these days? I will add it to my list of places to go when I’ve had enough regular bacon...
