Late in afternoon a waiter told us they were only serving drinks and dessert at that time. He offered no menus. I thought it was just before closing and asked what drinks they had. The waiter called out a few and we picked ice tea and lemonade. When I asked for dessert options he seemed annoyed. He still offered no menu but instead rattled off around six desserts. I would have left but our grandson was thirsty. We ordered 1 slice of pie and 2 slices of cake. I asked if my husband's pie could come ala mode and got a glare from the waiter. I'm not sure what the look was about, but there was definitely no ice cream on top. The tea and lemonade were very good and the cheesecake and apple pie were wonderful. The waiter dissapeared, not asking if we needed a refill or how things were. When we finished, my husband went to find him when our waiter magically appeared with the check, a $50.76 check. Not what I expected even on Mackinaw Island. I put cash in the folder and handed it to him. Instead of thanking us, he was checking out his tip as we walked by. I hope this doesn't happen to others who stop here for a bite. The scenery is part of the magic of the Island. Rude staff members are not.
