The Great Turtle was recommended to us by a St. Ignace local who we bought some fudge from, and she recommended right!! My husband (the photographer) and I absolutely loved our meals! We got there at 1pm, so it was pretty busy, but our server, Pearl H., was so attentive, quick, and efficient with our table. She was kind and helpful and gave great recommendations for meals. I had the Somewhere in Time cocktail cause I always go with the gin cocktail, and my brother in law got the flight of cocktails, so he tried them all. He agreed that Somewhere in Time was the best. My husband got the Off the Dock cocktail, the vodka selection. He was also very pleased with it. My brother in law liked the whiskey cocktail and the rum cocktail the least, but they were certainly well crafted drinks, just depends on your personal alcohol preference. We started with the fried calamari and it was, with the whole table's agreement, hella delicious! I absolutely recommend people get the fried calamari. I got the tacos with grilled chicken and WOW was I impressed. They were delicious! The chips weren't anything to write home about, but who goes to a restaurant for chips? I usually skip the chips anyways. The tacos came with tortilla chips. My husband got the Cali Chicken Sandwich, and while it was MASSIVE and slightly messy to eat (he even lost his avocado to the floor and our server, Pearl, was kind enough to replace it), he was very pleased with his meal. His sandwich came with kettle chips, which he liked more than my tortilla chips, but again, nothing to write home about. I might recommend paying the extra couple dollars for fries or onion rings. Despite the lackluster chips (again, who cares? The rest of the food was amazing!) we were very pleased with our food and service. Give Pearl a raise cause she worked hard AF given how busy it was. We will be recommending The Great Turtle to others we know who may visit Mackinac Island. We left with great memories. :)

Family and I stopped in for lunch around 1:15 or so; town was pretty busy but this was the third weekend in September so not as bad as peak season. Restaurant was definitely busy but we got in pretty well right away and the service was very prompt and responsive. The kids got Mac and cheese which resembled the boxed kind we have at home but which they very much enjoyed regardless. Wife got a shortrib sandwich that she said was solidly the best she's ever had. I had a fried chicken sandwich which was also very good. Honestly though, the highlight in our opinion was the onion rings! The shortrib sandwich really was phenomenal too though. The short rib was so tender as to be difficult to tell you were actually biting through meat but the flavor was undeniably smoky and altogether classic ribs. My wife let me try a small bite just so I would know for myself how good it was; not surprisingly she was correct the sandwich was amazing.

We stopped in here for lunch. We were there on a Thursday and it wasn't super busy, we were seated promptly. Our server was new, but did a good job and was attentive. I ordered the roasted beet chickpea burger and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I was happy they had a vegetarian burger that wasn't your standard boring black bean burger. It was very delicious! I liked the pretzel bun. The Brussels were good also. My husband had the exorbitantly priced brewery fish and chips which was a whopping $38. It was a large portion and he said it was excellent, but seemed a bit pricey for lunch, maybe they should consider a smaller, less expensive lunch portion. I wish they had side options besides chips, fries or raw veggies. Like a veggie medley or broccoli. I like the variety of options they have on the menu and they have a good sized dining room plus outdoor seating. I'd definitely go there again!

It's an excellent location to eat right when you get off the ferry or before you leave. The beer is decent, nothing to exciting. No cars allowed is a pretty good light beer and a stronger alcoholic content I would have to recommend is the Winchester Rusty beer. However, the White fish appetizer is uh-mazing! It's definitely a dish you should get for the table. I also ordered the Brisket which was pretty good. I would like to try other items on the menu. I would say that it heavily tastes better with the horseradish. Not a huge fan of horseradish but ohhhhh my god it's a must for your dish weather you're getting a Brisket or not! Food was pretty good. Wasn't super blown away aside from the app and the beer is decent. Service is honest and friendly which is also pretty nice. I would rank it a 4.3 out of 5. Still an awesome spot to eat. However, I'll have to try out some other dishes.

Not as good as the current 4+ rating would suggest. Tried the "whitefish" hush puppies, but they lacked even the faintest hint of whitefish. Perhaps being prepared near the whitefish in the great lakes qualifies. Also not as large as the menu alludes to. They are about the size of your average meatball. Id stick with Long John Silver's instead of these. The margherita flatbread was quite good, but again on the small size for the island prices. Two people will eat one of these easily with room to spare. Service was incredibly fast, almost too fast. The quick seating and taking of our order was appreciated, but after you order getting your water refilled or putting in additional food was a challenge. You get a clear sense they want you in and out to get as much turnover as possible and keep the tourists on their way.

Stopped in for lunch after walking the trails around the island. Upon arrival we were informed that they had shut the grill down for cleaning. This was at 1pm. We pivoted away from the burgers and instead ordered three appetizers. The brussel sprouts were amazing , crispy, and full of bacon and some awesome sauce. The giant pretzel was itself great but was accompanied by a very mediocre cheese deep and a honey mustard. The whitefish dip was fantastic. It was exceptionally Smokey and very cheesy. I also tried a gin signature drink which was very good but a tad sweet and a white stout beer which was awesome. The waitress was very nice but didn’t have a little trouble remembering our drink orders and apologized many times for the lack of a grill.
