Used to love this place, and would recommend it to anyone I could. I would come in weekly during my lunch break as it was walking distance from my work, and it was a good way to start winding down for the week. I knew the people and they knew me, the service was excellent and the food was excellent. They even memorized what I would order. It was honestly my favorite part of the week before Friday because the people were so likable and the service was fantastic.
Unfortunately, though, they've gone very downhill over the past year. I once found a piece of paper in my grits at one point, and then was served a burger on a bun that was so old it was hardened on another occasion. Things like this happen, but my coworkers and friends were having the same issues, and more than once, on different days and times. None of us like going there now and will actively avoid it.
I was the only one defending the place to my coworkers and friends, encouraging them to give the place another chance since they seemed to be good to me, or to come with me so I could say something if anything else went wrong. I was a very big fan of the place, even when the food was bad or wrong, the service was usually wonderful.
Today during my lunch (12pm - 1pm) however was a different story. The waitress that served me and eventually her other tables was very inattentive and aloof. After 10 minutes, she finally gets to several tables at once, including mine, but just slaps a menu down and walks off without saying a word or giving me or anyone else a chance to say anything. Thought that was a little rude and kind of odd, but who knows what she had going on or how stressed she may have been. She did this to several other tables too.
Anyway eventually I give her my order and she brings it, but she slaps the plate down on the table and again, keeps walking without saying a word or giving me a chance to speak. I was honestly shocked it didn't make a mess because it very well could have with how she handled it. I was eventually able to flag her down (which I don't like doing because it feels degrading), and ask her if I could get some napkins. She returns a few minutes later and slaps down paper silverware with one tiny napkin, which is not what I asked for. I had to ask the other gentleman there for them and told him that she was not stopping to talk to anyone, just slapping things down and walking away. Once my meal was finished, I put everything on the plate and pushed it off to the side. I eventually was able to get her attention (she walked very fast so it was hard to do) and ask her for the check. Again she comes by, slaps it down and walks away. I had my card ready to go. I didn't say anything, just put the card out and she happened to see it.
Also, the door is broken again. Customers would leave it open and employees would not shut it. I would shut it when I saw it open as this same issue happened last year. I just cannot recommend this place in good faith anymore, which is really unfortunate because as I said, I was defending it and it was one of my favorite places to go, and one of my favorite things about the week. I'll just be going elsewhere now. They can't keep staff there, so there's no consistency, and I'm amazed that the chef still gets away with leaving things in people's food.
They need to hire better people and get under some new management that actually cares about their customers. Right now the talk about them around town is not good. Sorry to say. I won't be back for a while, but that's more unfortunate for me than anyone else. It's just such a shame. They're also very pricey, so good service is a must I think. I try to show grace and understand that people have things going on, but this was pitiful today.
The people I normally get are wonderful, but they don't seem to be there anymore. None of the good ones ever stay. Can't say that I blame them anymore. Anyway, if you're visiting downtown and looking for a place to eat, don't...
Read moreHidden gem! This Cashman's Pub is at the end of Cherry Street, down by the Ga sports hall of Fame, the Old train Depot, and the Tubman museum. In my opinion, it is not in the normal high traffic area of that street. That's not a bad thing; you just have to know where you are going. We wanted to try some place new (to us), and found Cashman's pub on Google. We arrived in the last business hour for that day. The staff was friendly, the pub was spotlessly clean. And there was small crowd watching the football game. I wanted to try their shrimp and grits, but they were out of grits at that time (end of the day). I totally understand, so I went with the Fish n Chips. My wife had the Cobb salad. The salad came out great; my wife really enjoyed it. It was your typical salad, but it was larger than some others she has had elsewhere. My server apologized, because they were out of fries also. HOWEVER, the replacement was tater tots, so...win for me! The plate had 2 large, cooked to perfection , pieces of batter fried fish, a mound of tater tots, and hushpuppies. My meal was wonderful! I actually took home a whole piece of fish and half of the tater tots! It was great the next day, when I reheated it for lunch. The food and experience was great. I am not discouraged about the grits and fries...it was late, and ordering food during COVID19 is tough. Thank you. CASHMAN'S PUB for a spot on meal, great service, and clean establishment. I cannot wait to come back and try the shrimp and...
Read moreI won't patronize this establishment with my money or time ever again. When I walked in I was told that I can be seated but when we were seated I sat there and watched the young lady walk back and forth in the kitchen eating on something and never washed her hands. I hear other employees stating that they're ready to go home so therefore we were neglected to be waited on. So when I finally got ahold of the server I ask for the manager she stated that the manager was on call and that she had to call them in order for me to speak with them so I declined and then she sent the bartender over whom I guess the was the next best thing in charge and I explained my frustrations to her to which she was very apologetic and I appreciated her sincerity. I just wanted her to know that no matter if you're ready to go home or not the ppl that come through those doors are paying customers and they would like to be waited on instead of being a toy being thrown back and forth because neither person wants to wait on them. I must say that I tip very generously and I love a good and efficient server but to be treated like that on my first visit there put a bad taste in my mouth and trust me I spread the word about my walk in there and the street committee listens especially when you're not treating your patrons equally. I hope this business flourishes but they also need more training on customer service. Great Day...
