Brass Captain Saloon & BBQ — Restaurant in Madeira Beach

The most dry brisket I've EVER had. Even with gobs of whatever BBQ sauce they had it was still too dry to eat. The cole slaw was about as bland as it gets. Potato salad was below average. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich that was equally as sad as the rest of the food. I ordered chopped brisket and sliced brisket and only got the sliced. Very limited menu and they were out of 2 of thier items which didn't leave much else to try. The meat was room temperature at best. The baked beans were actually pretty tasty and hot. The service left a lot to be desired as well. The bartender was watching music videos on a laptop behind the bar with what I assume was a coworker or possibly manager. She glanced up and asked how we were doing and then went back to not working. We were the only guests at the bar. We pushed the food away after a few bites and asked for the check. She took the full plates away and didn't ask why we didn't take more than a couple bites. Completely inattentive and oblivious. The place looks like it probably has a decent night life as it looks more like a club than a restaurant. Might be a good place for a drink near the beach at night but I DO NOT recommend going there for food and don't expect decent service. If I could leave zero stars I would. My husband and I were just here. We have not been here before, and we had been recommended to try this place. It was not busy, and there were maybe 7 people spread out at the bar, so not enough space for us to sit at the bar. We sat at a table maybe 5 feet from the bar. The waitress clearly saw us, but did not come from behind the bar to wait on us. I'm not sure if this is regular protocol to expect patrons to come to you to order, but we were not spoken to at all. She stood there talking to another patron and pointed to a wall that we couldn't see. As we were leaving after sitting there for 5 minutes, I noticed it was a menu. I'm not sure if we were supposed to automatically know that the menu is on the wall, and we are supposed to go to the bar to order, but some simple communication would have helped greatly. Anyway, we ended up leaving without getting anything. To the owners and wait staff: consider coming out from behind the bar, or at the very least letting your new customers know how service works at your establishment so that you have more business and...

Owner of establishment (Brass Captain) put up post office parking signs. Figured this was for during the day when the post office is open. Signs were generic and looked hand made. There were no tow away signs visible at all! Needless to say our vehicle was towed without proper signage being displayed. Had we seen a PROPER, LEGAL sign, we would have parked elsewhere! Finding out our vehicle had been towed we were perplexed. There were no tow away signs. We finally found one though, it was hidden behind the DUMPSTER!!! Not visible at all!! Entrapment at it’s finest! Brass Captain is probably getting a kickback from all the new tows. Definitely illegal! If you put up a sign maybe also add “Post Office parking ONLY! All other vehicles will be towed!!” That would have saved us and others the headache of dealing with A- 1 Towing. This towing company was very unprofessional and their employees...
