The hotel is absolutely beautiful, aesthetically, HOWEVER, that & the close proximity to the beach are the ONLY upsides. I honestly have no idea how the hotel is rated as highly as it is, but my theory is that the patrons reviewing it are not accustomed to quality stays or the reviews are either fake &/or paid for; I assume it’s the latter because I can’t imagine so many people not being accustomed to decency. Our 5 day stay at the Cambria was for a last minute birthday beach vacation & was chosen since it was one of the few hotels that had availability. It was also cheaper than comparable hotels in the area. First red flag & you definitely get what you pay for.
CHECK IN: Upon arrival, 430PM on a Thursday, the two gentlemen at the front desk appeared busy & overwhelmed, which I attributed to the hotel being an underprepared, new establishment. Check in went smoothly & we were treated to a glass of champagne, which was a nice touch. There was no bellhop or valet so we were responsible for parking & getting our luggage to our room. The parking garage is covered & free, so that was a plus, although parking could be hard to find.
THE ROOM: The corner 5th floor double queen had an extremely obstructed view & we had to go to the lobby to request a room switch after being on hold longer than 10 mins for the front desk. This was a pain because the elevators are SLOW. Our request was granted with no problem & the room was spacious, modern, & spotless. The TV was HUGE, plenty of USB ports, great lighting, & a microwave, min-fridge, & coffee pot. Noise level in the room was moderate, but quiet, overall. Blackout curtains made the room pitch-black which allowed for a nice night’s rest. The “Queen” beds were VERY small & appeared to be double beds, but the beds & pillows were comfortable. The phone in the room wasn’t working properly, which made any room requests very difficult. The 2nd day we noticed the coffee pot also wasn’t working so we requested a new coffee pot & that one didn’t work either.
THE LOCATION: The hotel is located about 1.5-2 blocks from the beach & is surrounded by small beachy shops & restaurants with johns pass boardwalk being about a 2 mile drive. The location was great, but could have more activities to offer. It’s a more laid-back, family-friendly area, so if you’re looking for a party destination, this definitely isn’t the right spot for you.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: The first night, after dealing with a room change, no bellhop, no valet, & a non-working phone, we decided to rest & order room service & this was a DISASTER. The menus are only available unless you have a smart phone to scan them, so we had to again go back to the lobby to scan the menu. There was no number to place the order so we had to call the front desk 4-5 times before we spoke with someone who agreed to take our order due to their phones being “down”. We waited over an hour for our food before calling the restaurant directly & were told that our food “should be right up”. 5 mins later, a teenager brought our food, & we were informed we couldn’t charge the food to our room & would have to provide up-front payment, which we weren’t told beforehand. The room service fee was only $4 but the food was COLD, portions were incredibly small for the price, & the chicken wings were undercooked, rubbery, & slightly pink inside. The entire front desk & kitchen staff were very disorganized. The roof top area is open to the public & was so crowded that no seating was available. The pool & hot tub stayed packed, drinks were $12-$15 each & were made very poorly. The roof top staff was so overwhelmed & Justin was very rude. We spent over $200 on drinks our 2nd night & our 3rd night, after ordering 2 drinks & spilling them immediately, Justin informed us they wouldn’t replace the drinks, even though a staff member witnessed the spill & agreed to replace them free of charge. This is absolutely no way to treat guests. Paula from the front desk was great, but our...
Read moreI booked a one night stay here for a few super special reasons. First to celebrate my 4th wedding anniversary and also to visit my daughter and granddaughter. So, I spent countless hours conducting the most thorough research into a hotel that would provide the perfect atmosphere, amenities, affordability, convenience and most of all, would allow us to to get our money's worth and I am SO GLAD I made The Cambria Hotel the place where some amazing memories were created! I always read through the reviews, so I was aware of the mandatory $25 valet fee and didn't have a problem with that, especially since, WOW those guys were phenomenal! Flying around the cars to open every passengers door, always super quick (our car was usually waiting for us by the time we took the elevator to the first floor thanks to a convenient mobile method) and it made loading and unloading our bags a breeze. Taking the elevator up to the 3rd floor to check-in was cool, and the entire space itself was really inviting with beachy colors, which I loved! The front desk associate was a joy to speak with, we were offered a glass of champagne, all of the amenities, opening/closing times etc were explained clearly, making the entire process smooth, efficient and an all around pleasure. Our room, as I believe all the rooms in the hotel do, had a nice sized balcony with a great view! I loved that it had several different vantage points of the water! Sturdy table and comfy chairs were also provided which was nice as well. Being that it's not actually on the water but across the street, it is located on a pretty busy corner of a rather busy intersection... that being said the noise didn't bother us at all and as soon as we closed the sliding door, the soundproof room provided tons of peace and quiet! Seriously, it was like night and day, we were astonished! When my daughter arrived shortly after we checked in, they found parking on the same street, I was easily able to get a few extra wristbands so that they could enjoy the evening with us, and we all headed to the rooftop pool! The rooftop area was so well designed, they had a really good live performer who we just absolutely adored! The heated pool provided not just one, but TWO large wading pools on either side, which was just perfect for my 18 month old granddaughter!! It wasn't crowded by any means and the overall ambience was just a chill, relaxed vibe! Plenty of covered and shaded seating options and we loved the hot tub (although you can't turn the jets on which was odd, but the water was HOT, so, not like just sitting in a bath) The drinks from the bar were wonderful, and after several hours of fun in the sun and soaking in some pretty astounding views, we had the option of ordering pool side food service but chose instead to head downstairs to their 1st floor restaurant and once again, wow! The service was amazing and the weather was perfect so we dined outside. The menu was great, prices were affordable and everything we ordered was perfect with no issues at all! Had seen some reviews specifically talking about loud sounds coming from elevators, we stayed on the 5th floor and we were right by the elevators and never had an issue with noise at all, or at least, no noise that you wouldn't normally expect to hear every now and again from perhaps a random child fussing for a few seconds etc but once nightfall set in, all was quiet and we got a great night's sleep! The walk in shower was great! Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided too which I always love! Very beautiful modern decor and our room was very clean, as was the entire hotel. Also, NO additional holds at check in, so the cost of the room and valet is all that is charged! Super rare! Will def stay here again and a sincere THANK YOU to all the staff for making this...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Cambria Hotel St. Petersburg-Madeira Beach Marina and had a mixed experience. While the rooms were nicely styled and spacious, there were notable issues with housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the hotel.
Firstly, the rooms themselves were quite impressive. The stylish decor and ample space provided a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable, and the overall ambiance was pleasing. However, the housekeeping service left much to be desired. Despite the initial positive impression, it became apparent that attention to detail was lacking. There were instances where the towels were not replaced, and the room was not thoroughly cleaned. This inconsistency in housekeeping service was disappointing.
One area that stood out as needing immediate attention was the fitness center. The lack of cleanliness and maintenance was evident. The laundry bin for used towels was overflowing, and there were no clean towels available. Additionally, the water dispenser remained unfilled for two consecutive days, which was inconvenient for guests looking to stay hydrated during their workouts. Proper and timely maintenance of fitness facilities is essential for a hotel, and this aspect was lacking at Cambria.
The public spaces also suffered from cleanliness issues. It was evident that the cleaning staff did not pay enough attention to detail. High-traffic areas, such as the lobby and corridors, were not cleaned thoroughly. This lack of cleanliness detracted from the overall impression of the hotel and affected the overall guest experience.
Despite these shortcomings, the staff at Cambria Hotel St. Petersburg-Madeira Beach Marina were generally polite and helpful. The front desk was responsive to inquiries and requests, but unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to compensate for the subpar housekeeping and cleanliness issues.
In conclusion, while the rooms at Cambria Hotel St. Petersburg-Madeira Beach Marina were stylish and spacious, the lack of attention to detail in housekeeping and cleanliness detracted from the overall experience. The fitness center required immediate attention, with overflowing laundry bins and a lack of clean towels and water. The public spaces also needed improvement, as they were not thoroughly cleaned. Hopefully, management will address these issues promptly to ensure a more satisfactory stay for...
