WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT THIS PLACE!!!!! Me & my husband have been coming down to Madeira Beach (almost 2 times a year) for the past 10 years now. And on Tuesday night we'd always walk down to The Daiquiri Shak for drinks & Skee-Ball....& to see our favorite bartender Kelly. Well we went to Daiquiri Shak on Tuesday (1/31/23) to have our usual fun night there. Walked up to the bar & noticed a different girl working. So we asked her if Kelly still worked there & if she was working that night. The girl, very snotty-like, replied that she did still work there & that if we wanted to see her that we could come back at 10am the next morning because she was going to be at a meeting they were having. We then told the girl where we were from & that we always come to see Kelly on Tuesday when we're here. She didn't really care to hear that & might as well been rolling her eyes at us. We decided to go ahead & order a couple of drinks. Then we look over to where the Skee-Ball machine USED to be & there was now a basketball machine instead!!! We asked the girl bartender when/why they got rid of the Skee-Ball machine. She told us that there had never been a Skee-Ball machine there before. We then told her that she was mistaken....& that there WAS one there before because we played it EVERYTIME we were there. She then said "well, I've been coming here since I was 17 & there has NEVER been one in here". We were dumbfounded to hear her just flat out lie to us & try to say that we were wrong about that! At that point we already had our drinks so we just decided to play a game of pool & then leave. My husband put $5 into the tunes thing & even that kept getting messed up or something. Like it would play half a song & get skipped to a different song. I was already ready to leave before finishing the game, because of the bartenders extremely rude, condescending, & snotty attitude. So we hurried through the game & went to pay our tab. We asked the girl if there was anything going on there the next night (because we've done trivia there before too)....she just scoffed & said "Nothing....except for the meeting at 10am.". So on that note, we paid our tab & left....so she could get back to holding hands with some guy at the bar. Worst experience EVER at this bar!!! If you DO plan on going to this bar ask for Kelly (KELLY is great!).....but if some other rude girl is working instead LEAVE...
Read moreSadly, we had to leave due to poor service during our last visit! Let me first say that we in general have enjoyed dining at Daquiri Shak. We enjoy it's laid-back atmosphere for a very tasty, reasonably-priced lunch; indoors, outdoors, or in-between. My husband and I first visited Daquiri Shak in August, 2024, while we were apartment hunting, moving from IL to FL. We had a wonderful, welcoming server, whose name I wish I remembered. We were relieved the restaurant was able to recover from the hurricanes relatively quickly, due to their slightly elevated location. We are now permanent Floridians, and are happy to support local businesses. We've returned to Daquiri Shak at least 3 times since they've re-opened. The food is always great. We enjoy the Shak Nachos, the Shak Burger, Cuban Sandwich, and I love the Beach Bum shrimp hoagie sandwich. The service is usually friendly and welcoming. Twice though, we've had "Blythe" as our server. The first time she was our server, we sat for a very long time waiting for service, and when she arrived at our table, she literally said, "I'm sorry, I forgot you guys existed". I laughed it off, but it put a very bad taste in my mouth, and my husband's. This most recent visit, unfortunately, Blythe was our server again. Yes, it was Good Friday, and they had what appeared to be a business luncheon happening, but her demeanor conveys she's just not to be bothered, or rushed, and there's no need to make customers feel welcome. The service was so slow, we asked Blythe to disregard our order for the nachos (we hadn't had the opportunity to order our sandwiches yet), and we'd just take the bill for our drinks. My husband asked her if he could talk to the manager, and she replied, "uh, well he's kind of busy', with no other indication she'd tell him we'd like to talk to him. We left, and went to another local restaurant two blocks down for lunch, where we had the most pleasant, cheerful hostess, and server. We hope management is able to find servers who are able to represent them in a more...
Read moreOkay for food and standard tourist beach entertainment, classic rock bands and 90s DJ's, etc. I am local and pretty much had everything on the menu here over the past year. So here are a few items of like and dislike. The sausage and sour cream dip. It is just as it sounds, odd. If you like sausage and sour cream separate, putting them together may work for you. I learned I prefer them separate. I often order the steak wrap. Think of this as a Chicago style finely diced steak and cheese meets burrito shell. It works. Its filling. Its nothing special. I also often order the taco salad or the crusted chicken salad. Both are nothing special, but are some of the better choices here. I have had the pizza a few times as well. While I would call it a genuine NY Style pie. The pizza is decent as long as they bake it long enough. The slight sweetness to the sauce along with decent toppings (get extra cheese) works well as long as it is baked long enough, often times it is not. As for service in the evening, it always takes awhile to get waited on. Frankly. The service usually sucks bad. Many times I have gone 2 hours without being noticed, then to only leave after the band wraps up and eat elsewhere!!! Yes, last night was over 2 hours with no drink and no food, but I enjoyed the band and then went to Waffle House to spend my money once again! That said. If Amy or Brooke notices me I am always waited on like I am a rockstar. For some reason those two servers rock! I rarely drink, but I can definitely add from occasional experience the frozen beverages and other drink specials are excellent! So if that is your thing, this is a must drink place for you. But if you are a foodie, this place is not for you. Although due to being open late, it works as a place to grab late night grub. And if lucky, the band will rock the night you are there. And if really lucky, hopefully Brooke or Amy is your server as after many times visiting they always take care of me. Maybe they will hire more like...
