Before ordering I asked 'IF' they know how to make XTRA Crispy hard shelled Taco's (both Waitress & waiter that took over said fairly Crispy or theirs BREAK ... I took the chance and it was Fine .... I usually always ask for double refried beans because the rice in Mexican good places is hard to find to my liking since I am partial to ours @Home .... but this one was actually the ONLY other edible item on my plate. The chili Relleno the seeds were left IN and there was too much fried egg batter coating that I wound up scraping off and the cheese just is there .... I like the rellenos that have the great MELTING cheese that flows out like a lava cake as soon as cut (but, I atleast ate 1/2 after working around seeds and outer egg batter) .... then I was so glad I had forgotten to ask for 2x the beans, because they were soooo very SALTY (I could NOT even keep that 1st bite in my mouth and my 3rd item was a bean & cheese burrito that I asked for a piece of foil so I could eat it later at night for dinner when I got back home which turned out to be 3 hours later. But, like I told my waiter b4 I even left the restaurant that I was NOT even gonna get to eat and enjoy it because It would have been made with the SAME over salted beans 😱😭 The waiter NEVER even asked or offered to swap it out for something else .... But that is okay because I just NEVER have to return to that location in Madera off of Cleveland anyway. I actually would have paid my tab and left immediately after tasting food, but I needed a place to eat and hang out for awhile after having an eye cauterization procedure done, and like I mentioned above .... the really young gal/Waitress? was so sweet and was always checking and making sure I always had water filled and constantly asking if I needed something even though she was also sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down tables and getting new diners their chips & salsa and drinks (she was the youngest worker in there around 2:30 p.m. ... but very hard working !!) I am really bummed I wasted almost 20 bucks for a 3 item combo and could NOT even enjoy more than 1/4th of it. Oh well, live & learn. Not even sure how this Survey arrived IN my inbox .... but .... just F.Y.I. to anyone curious and may just want to purchase smaller meal options to TRY out their taste buds 1st. For those SALT...

Today, wasnt a great visit here...i was waiting to be seated, and got passed over by a group of 4, that turned into a party of 10. I was really hungry and almost started crying because that meant i had to wait longer to eat...the general manager (i believe, not really sure) saw me standing there and then let me known that i can just seat anywhere...but there was no sign to let me know that, and the staff was even seating everyone to there tables...finally i get a table, at the very back of the restaurant, when my coffee comes, the server sets down in the other side of the table and i have reach across to get to it (i know im being a Karen over this), but it felt like i was being forgotten there...my food came and it felt like the server was in a rush...there wasnt alot of people in the restaurant at the time...and another server was handling the party of ten...half way through my meal though i noticed a lot more people started showing up...and that's when i realized no one ever came back to see how i was doing, even if i needed more coffee, other customers were being offered refills on water, soda or coffee...but i was practically forgotten...i seriously could've pulled a dine and dash, and i dont think they would of realized until after...

The wait time was pretty long for a Sunday afternoon. We got there a little after 4, there was only one large party there and 2 other tables taken. There were 7 of us. 6 adults and 1 child. They sat us in the back. It was a dark hallway towards the restroom.... We let them know we were ready to order when they brought our drinks, and still waited a long 30 minutes+ before a waitress came to take our order. We filled up on chips and salsa.... By the time our food came we took a couple bites but ended up taking it home. The food was good. Very authentic home style recipes. We left at 6:15 pm. At that time every table was taken at the restaurant . One of my friends from Turlock said "it's a good thing we came early, before the crowd. Or we would have ended up here for 3 hours or more! The food was delicious. The service was almost non-existent. Best advice I can give is don't allow them to sit you on a corner and forget about you. We saw other tables of 2 getting served and left, although they had come in after us. I usually take pictures of our food for the post.... It was too dark to remember. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️💁‍♀️ Sorry. If there is a next time, I'll post pictures. Maybe a Togo order...

They had incredibly dirty dishes and extremely smeared cutlery. The service was horrible I had to wait 25 minutes for a refill of my water and a extra 10 for my order to be taken, it was not overly packed and it was decently empty and yet they still took a long time. Our table was dirty and the food took almost 30 minutes to get to us. The food was horrible a sad joke for Mexican food, my burrito was plain, a complete lack of seasoning, I could go from the lack of flavor in the rice to the dry clearly old meat to the store bought tortillas, this place is a mess and when I asked for salsa they served me something that tasted like water. The quesadilla was drenched in a pool of water from the ground beef they had used, this place is truly a sad excuse for a restaurant. A former image of itself and most likely never going to return to that greatness

After hearing about Sal’s from many people, I finally gave them a try! I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered half and half fajitas and they were great. (Only came with two tortillas though) My friend raves about and ordered the enchiladas. I gave them a try and was surprised at how delicious they were. I regret not ordering them because “I can make my own enchilada sauce at home”, but these were delicious and the next time I go I’ll be ordering them for sure! The staff was VERY attentive. Like to the point towards the end it was a little annoying, but honestly it was great and I didn’t mind that much because they weren’t overbearing, just checking in. The fried ice cream was very sad though. It wasn’t freshly fried and you could tell they just grabbed it out of the freezer :(.

My family loves eating at Sal's. We were celebrating my brothers 39th birthday so we had placed a LARGE to-go order. When it was time to pick-up our order we waited in the designated parking area for pick-up & you called the number listed on each parking stall sign to let them know you were there to pick-up your order. She asked which vehicle we were in. The staff was super friendly & helpful. The cashier came out to our vehicle to grab the form of payment & once that was done there were 2 staff members that brought out our order and with this occasion it was twice cuz we had that much food that fed our family. The food is always delicious & filling. Never disappointed. I highly recommend to eat at this Mexican restaurant.
