Ernie's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Mahwah

I asked the girl at the counter if the medium hard ice-cream comes on a cone, she said yes. I asked for 2 flavors and she said those are only for soft ice-cream, I chose 2 other flavors and she served me the ice-cream on a tiny cone, like a kid's cone. She could have told me that size is for a small cone. It seems like they serve the right thing to customers that have been there before. Do I have to say "it is my first time" to be served properly? I don't think so. When I asked how much she said $5.28, I gave her a $20 and 28¢, she said "one more penny" I said "I gave you 3" while she was still holding then in her hand, and she said "yeah but it's 29 cents; I didn't want to argue over it so I gave her the other penny, and she gave me the change. She didn't offer/give me the receipt either. Maybe if they had more grown-up people serving customers, they would do a better job. Some change should be made there for me to ever go...

The ice cream monster (speaking of myself) who is pretty critical of ice cream met Marisa today, and was recommended two different ice creams in one cup. Java fudge chip (coffee ice cream with fudge and chocolate chunks) and Black raspberry blast (black raspberry ice cream with raspberry filled chocolate cups). Aaaaamazing! yes not many people mix two different types of flavors but I like to experiment. The first one had a beautiful hint of coffee mixed in with amazing surprising bites of chewy fudge and little niblets of chocolate pieces. The second one with a robust flavor of creamy raspberry with nice surprises, a little raspberry filled chocolate cups which just melted and added a surprise blast of additional flavor on top of the ice cream.

Really glad I stopped by to satisfy my ice cream craving! And left verrrry happy!!

The staff here is so rude at night. The teenage girls working always have an attitude and are so nasty to us because we come in near closing time. Tonight we came 10 minutes before closing (we don’t live in the area anymore so it was a rare opportunity) and the two girls were already mopping the floor and completely ignored us at the counter. They were laughing and talking about us behind the window and did not even come to acknowledge us and let us know that they were closed. They just ignored us until we left. This is a regular occurrence with these two specific girls. I love Ernies and it’s a favorite of me and my fiance but the service of these two girls on the night shift has turned us away pretty...
