At this point, I might consider myself a bar pie connoisseur. Growing up in New York, my pizza experience was strictly Neapolitan (New York-style), so I didn’t even know what a bar pie was until I moved to Jersey. While I’m not saying it’s exclusive to Jersey, it certainly feels like a specialty here—and what a discovery it’s been! I’d heard plenty of buzz about Kinchley’s Tavern and finally had the chance to check it out this past Sunday. The place was bustling, and we were initially told there’d be a two-hour wait. But as luck would have it, a perfectly sized table for our group of six guys opened up just in time. Talk about a stroke of good fortune! Now, let’s talk pizza. The fra diavolo pie was an absolute masterpiece—razor-thin, crispy, and with just the right amount of heat to pack a flavorful punch without overpowering. It’s the kind of pie you savor with every bite. We also tried the garbage pie, and it did not disappoint. Loaded with toppings, it was the perfect complement to our meal. The waitstaff at Kinchley’s deserves a shoutout, too—attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, even with how busy they were. Their hospitality added to the great vibes of the evening. We had such a blast with the boys that I’m already planning my next visit—this time with my family. Kinchley’s isn’t just a place to grab a slice; it’s a full-on experience, and I can’t wait to relive it.

CASH ONLY - I have never seen a more busy place! Staff is extremely friendly and efficient though. It does feel a little overwhelming weaving in and out around tables at first. We made a reservation for 6:30 and sat around 7. The four of us ended up in a booth which I feel like is the best situation. My friends enjoyed the stuff clams and said they were very tasty. The mozzarella sticks were delicious such a nice fry on them, great cheese pull and delicious marinara. My friends enjoyed the white pie but I think the vodka pie was the favorite. We ordered sausage and onion which keep in mind raw onion vs. sautéed which is a different option when ordering. I had the sausage pepper and onion sandwich which was sooooo good! Great house made sausage, the marinara on it was tasty and I love that they sliced the sausage in half long ways so it fit better in the bread. We had some white wine and Moscow mules which there were no complaints from anyone on those, they were all delicious. Parking is a zoo so just be patient and careful. Great to see a place thrive for so long and keep doing what they do best!

Style: Thin crust NYC. The sauce is perfectly balanced and non-acidic on the stomach with a sweet finish. Unlike their competitors who use too much cheese which leaves the pie imbalanced and top heavy, Kinchley's pie makers take care not to do this and the result is the perfect pull and taste of cheese everytime. The crust is like no other in NJ and is so unique that when you go to other thin crust establishments, you will be comparing them to the standard set here by the folks at Kinchley's. On top of that, it is never chewy and yeasty tasting either. If you like it crunchy, order it well done and enjoy the finest thin crust pizza pie in all of NJ. You can get personal pies as well as standard size pies as a side note. They also feature their own beer which is a red ale that finishes slightly more hoppy than Killian's red does. Kinchley's Birch beer is also a classic here and is well worth a glass of you enjoy the taste which some say pairs better with the pizza than anything else available on tap. IMO, this is the finest thin crust pizza I have ever eaten in all of NJ!

There are so many positive things to say about this place. Let’s start with the overall management: *EFFICIENT; * you will absolutely want to make a reservation- what I love about this place is that even if it is for a party of three you can call ahead and make a reservation. TRUST ME. Do it- they are packed everyday! *STAFF: * friendly, they all work together, they don’t rush you at all * FOOD: Delicious variety… definitely a pub style pizza (not the traditional thicker crusted pizza *ENVIRONMENT *it’s tight.. the booths are on the smaller size, and you need to be patient when they are busy.. only one bathroom stall Shout out to Brandon.. I had only been there one time before and after I walked in he greeted us at the table and asked me if I wanted the drink that I had ordered from a previous occasion! My mouth dropped… what a memory …and that just goes to show you how great the servers are connecting with their customers. Another shout out to CJ our waiter for the evening. So accommodating, funny, and prompt! Could not do enough for us. Thank you!

Alright, 201 magazine named Kinchley's the best pizza in Bergen County. Nellies in Waldwick was a runner up. So we headed out to try both tonight. We got the signature 14" bar pie and a small Kreme Spinach pie. Let's start with the bar pie. This is the kind of pie that I could easily put 10 away while watching the Mets beat up on the Phillies. The crust isn't even in the same league as most pizza joints. Any pizza person knows, the crust will make or break a pie. This crust is in a league of its own. Sauce was slightly above average and the cheese took it home. Now for the showstopper. The Kreme Spinach pie was insane. Granted, you have to obviously be a fan of creamed spinach. If you are..... Oh my God!! I've never had anything like this. It was absolutely delicious. Creamy, mixed with cheese and then that crust!!! Fughettaboutit. The staff was excellent. Extremely attentive and on their game. It was a decent drive but this is a place I would definitely go back to so I can explore their menu further.
