Upfront I will say that I filed a police report, and moved to another hotel.
This Christmas, we were looking to stay local to my in-laws; with 2 pets; & looking for an open restaurant.
I found a great rate for Best Western Inn at Ramsey. I was discussing Stay Logistics with the front desk agent, Henish, the pet fee is $20/night/pet. 2 nights + 2 dogs = $80. 1 dog is 9 lbs, so I asked to save 1 pet fee.
Here's where it gets hinky. Henish looked at me & asked - arching his eyebrow & smiling; 'what are you going to do for me?'
I responded rather startled, what could he be talking about... I can't do anything inappropriate, right?? I'm a mom & a wife what did he mean? I brushed it off as a joke.
We went to see the rooms. In a 2nd floor room, I had my foot in the door. Henish asked me to remove my foot, so that the cameras would not see and hear us talk about the pet fee. I did, he opened his arms up, and asked me for a hug. I was startled; and awkwardly did, then backed up to open the door and get out. He told me that I didn't give him a very good hug, and I said something like, it's because I'm married and a mother, and why would he want a better hug in the first
Here's the other really awful thing. I responded to him in a way that I used as a means of coping while being molested multiple times as a child into my preteen years. Another person with different instincts could respond very differently. 40 years fell away, and in an instant I was back in a flight can't fight -- mindframe.
It took me a day to process, I called Corporate to provide my feedback. I didn't know if I was going to be able to find another room at another hotel that would accept pets on Christmas Eve. I have a very difficult situation that I'm going through with my family, and I wanted no mention of this to upset the apple cart so to speak. So when I spoke with the customer service specialist who took my inquiry, I was not even thinking about my self care.
I have since spoken to a customer service manager at corporate offices and provided my feedback about sensitivity training for incoming feedback such as mine. I called in 4 times with different information, and the first 2 customer service specialists who helped me were really difficult; and I was actually in hysterics.
I did file a police report, the hotel did refund my money through the online booking group that I used, and I did stay somewhere else. Corporate offices will work with the locations management to review this incident.
As I was processing this, I realized that as quickly as he asked what he did, and as openly... likely means that he's done this more than one time and is getting away with it.
Ironically, when I was speaking about this with another person in the industry/that general location, (and who obviously does not want to go on record)... they stopped me mid-sentence to tell me that they knew who I was talking about and what hotel I was talking about and even what had happened to me.
When I called back to report what was going on, I also indicated that i would pay the $80 if I stayed there & couldn't find another hotel. Was I wrong to have asked to avoid the extra pet fee? Regardless, in no way should I have to experience giving somebody a sexual favor in return for saving any amount of money.
I certainly hope that this helps any other Traveler that might come across this situation at this location. I also hope that this helps everyone involved to a better path forward, change whatever they need to, and to live a better life.
But I'll tell you what, I won't be staying at the Best Western Inn at Ramsey ever again, and neither will...
Read moreTo Whom It May Concern,||||I am writing this to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at The Ramsey Hotel. I would not even rate this place as being a hotel. Our stay was easily one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at any hotel, and I feel compelled to share the following points of concern:||||Uninviting Exterior: The outside of the building was not welcoming at all. As we drove up, the hotel gave off a very poor first impression.||||Neglected Landscaping: The landscaping was in terrible condition, which further contributed to the unappealing look of the property.||||Building and Parking Lot Neglect: The facade of the building and the parking lot clearly appeared to have been neglected for years. It was obvious the hotel had not invested in maintaining the exterior.||||Fire Department Closure Notice: Upon entering the lobby to check in, I was greeted with a sign indicating that the local Fire Department had shut down the hotel's restaurant. This raised immediate concerns about the overall safety of the building. If a restaurant was closed due to safety issues, what about the rest of the property?||||Structural Issues: There were clear structural problems throughout the building. On the first floor, the hallway door scraped the floor when opened, partially blocking the stairs leading to the second floor.||||Room Condition: We stayed in Room 211, which had significant structural issues. The floor in the room sloped badly, likely due to underlying building problems. The slope was so noticeable that we could feel it when walking on the floor. Even the bed near the outside wall sloped in that direction. The safety of the building itself is in serious question.||||Urgent Need for Inspection: I strongly recommend that the appropriate authorities (City or County) conduct a full evaluation of the building to assess its structural integrity. Given the issues we observed, this should be a priority to ensure the safety of future guests.||||Neglected Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the hotel was also concerning. When we checked in, there was a trash bag sitting outside a room two doors down from us. I even saw the front desk clerk walking by that area multiple times, but the trash was never picked up. It remained there until the next morning when we checked out.||||Overall, our experience at The Ramsey Hotel was deeply disappointing, and I will not be staying here again. It is evident that the property is in dire need of maintenance and attention. I strongly advise that the management take immediate action to address these issues to avoid further damage to the hotel's reputation and to ensure...
Read moreI would highly encourage anyone planning to stay here to read and believe the negative reviews. It is apparent that there are some well maintained rooms on the second floor that were used for photos, but overall the hotel is not up to the standard a Best Western of this price point and location should be.
When we entered the building, there was a Musty and Mildewy smell immediately, and this persisted throughout the hotel. It was especially bad in the room. Check-in was fine, no issues. Was given a room on the first floor, so did not have to deal with the lack of an elevator. The internal hallways doors are in poor repair, and they are difficult to deal with and slam very loud, which would be a problem for those in the first few rooms. The main hallway has a significant drop to it, making it a downhill walk to the center of the hotel and then back up for the other end.
The room was severely slanted from the door to the window. So much so, that when I let go of my suitcase, it then rolled from the door and nearly slammed into the air conditioner (would have if someone hadn’t caught it at the last minute). Speaking of the air, while it did work, the seal around it was poor enough that I could see daylight through it.
The mattresses were covered in heavy plastic. The beds were also slanted from the headboard to the foot. This is why I woke up in the middle of the night slid halfway off the foot of the bed. The walls had cracks and missing plaster, and the “closet” and mirrors were all crooked and askew (not sure what they would have leveled them to! Not the floor!) the chairs and lamps and desks were in nice shape, but the refrigerator did not work.
The bathroom had seen some remodeling on the sink and the toilet worked fine. The shower was still unfinished with a hole around the shower head. And the shower head was poor and sprayed everywhere.
Lastly the location. Very convenient just off the highway (literally pulled in going 50 mph). However it makes it very difficult to get to any food nearby. Must take multiple exit and entrance ramps to go a block or two.
Overall a poor experience. One I would not repeat nor could I...
