The first time we stopped in they were out of almost everything except sausage. Not a great first impression and we left to find something else to eat. I was determined to get some barbecue though so we tried again. On the second visit we shared the Judge's Sampler. The chicken had a nice sweet sauce. Pulled pork was nicely cooked with a good bark. She loved the brisket, I liked it okay. The ribs were meaty and had a fantastic bark. I loved them but she wasn't as impressed because of a piece of gristle. Picky. The tater salad was pretty good and the collard greens were delicious and perfectly seasoned. They even made me homesick for the south. The cornbread was bland but perfectly baked. The place is bright and open and everyone is friendly. The tables were sticky though and she found some silverware that was still greasy. Some of the food was hot and some of it was cold, like it wasn't all cooked at the same time. Five stars for the meats, six stars for the ribs. Ten stars for the greens. Minus points for the sticky tables and dirty silverware. Another minus for not having any hot sauce on the tables. What kind of self-respecting BBQ joint doesn't have Crystal or Tabasco on the tables? A great one has both, plus a bottle of pepper sauce.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at City Barbeque in Park Ridge—this place is a must-visit if you love real, wood-smoked barbecue served with heart and hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the aroma of slow-cooked meats had us hooked. But what truly made our visit unforgettable was Bridget, our counter waitress, who was an absolute gem. Bridget greeted us with the kind of genuine warmth and energy that makes you feel instantly welcome. She guided us through the menu like a pro, offering thoughtful recommendations (don’t skip the brisket or the baked beans!) and answering every question with a smile. Her enthusiasm for the food was contagious, and her attention to detail was beyond impressive—she made sure every part of our order was perfect, down to the last pickle. You can tell Bridget takes pride in her work and truly cares about making customers happy. It’s rare to see service this attentive and cheerful these days, and she elevated our entire experience. The food? Absolutely mouthwatering. Juicy, tender meats with just the right amount of smoke, perfectly seasoned sides, and a sweet tea that hits the spot. Bridget + City Barbeque = a winning combo. We’ll be back soon—and we’ll be asking for Bridget by name!

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about our experience at City BBQ in Park Ridge — from the second we walked in, everything was on point, but what truly made it exceptional was our waitress, Bridget. She was an absolute rockstar. Bridget wasn’t just attentive — she was genuinely warm, funny, and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She guided us through all the best picks (don’t sleep on the brisket or the banana pudding 😮‍💨) and made sure our drinks were always full and our table was never without a smile. She treated us like regulars, even though it was our first time — the kind of service that instantly makes you want to come back. The food? 🔥 Unbelievable. Perfectly smoked, juicy, flavorful BBQ with sides that taste like they came from a Southern grandma’s kitchen. But honestly, even if the food wasn’t incredible (it is), we’d come back just for Bridget. She made us feel welcome, taken care of, and honestly? Like we were having dinner at a friend’s house. If you’re in Park Ridge and even thinking about BBQ — go to City BBQ. And if you’re lucky enough to have Bridget as your server, trust me, you’re in very good hands.

I've never experienced such horrible and disrespectful service in my life. I was a server at restaurants for years. I worked at Starbucks for years. I understand what it takes to work in the service industry. It is not easy. And yet, the basics are an expectation. Your staff didn't even come close to providing the basics today.

I placed a carryout order today for curbside pickup. I texted that I was on my way, as per the instructions in the text I received. I texted that I was "HERE" as requested when I arrived. I was five minutes early before the 5:30 pickup time so I wasn't expecting anything yet. I waited. I waited.

At 5:45 I went in and saw my order sitting on a table. I asked an employee that was behind the counter "how long has this been sitting here?" and he walked away while mumbling "not long". I then said to someone else "I ordered this for curbside pickup. Why didn't anyone bring it out or tell me it's here?" He said "well we're really busy" and gestured around the store as if I should have known that it wouldn't be brought out to me, and he walked away. I said "excuse me? Why do you offer curbside pickup if you're not going to bring the order out?" Someone from the kitchen said over the service window, without even looking in my direction, an extremely dismissive "sorry sir, have a good night." I said "that doesn't answer my question" and she repeated, in a disgustingly crabby and go-to-hell manner, "sorry sir, have a goodnight." If you're not going to bring the order to curbside customers, don't offer curbside pickup!

I understand it can be hard to find good employees. I know that the pandemic left places understaffed, etc. The people you have working at this location are, however, deplorable. And to top it off, in addition to cold food that was supposed to be hot, the quart sized sides we ordered were maybe two thirds full.

Needless to say, we will NEVER eat at your restaurant again. Shockingly bad behavior by dismissive, rude, and thoughtless employees has cost you a customer. I will be sure to share my opinion of your store with everyone that will listen. Your company should be embarrassed that these people are...

This review is for City BBQ's catering services -

We couldn't have made a better choice with City BBQ for our wedding food! During our first meeting with Veneisha, you could immediately tell she was an authentic individual. She is truly one of the reasons why we trusted her with our day! Her communication was timely, clear, and thoughtful — every question we had was answered quickly, and she made the entire planning process feel easy and stress-free. On the big day, the team showed up early, fully prepared, and completely professional. They worked seamlessly with our venue and other vendors, and their setup was absolutely beautiful — rustic and elegant.

Now, let’s talk about the food. At the tasting, we had difficulties deciding what to serve our guests because we LOVED everything. The smoked brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, the pulled pork had just the right amount of kick, and the sides? Don’t even get me started on the mac and cheese and cornbread pudding — they were next-level delicious. We had a guest born and raised in Louisiana, and almost cried when having the green beans because they brought her back home! Our guests are still talking about it a month later. We debated on what it would be like to challenge the ‘status quo’ of traditional wedding food, and are so glad that we did. It was so worth it.

Every single team member went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of with a smile. The food was always hot and stocked promptly. You could feel the passion and pride in every interaction. Jadia, Avion, Sharnice, Katty, Jasmine, Lourie and Janice, we are so grateful you were with us on our day! We invited them to enjoy the wedding dancefloor and these ladies DELIVERED (not only our food) but incredible energy and amazing vibes.

If you want your wedding to be filled with warmth, flavor, and fantastic service, look no further. We are beyond grateful to City BBQ for making our wedding so memorable. Thank you again to Veneisha and the entire team, we cannot recommend your...

I have eaten at this location several times and ordered delivery from here I believe 3 times now and I can honestly say every time I’ve come back, it has gotten progressively worse. I thought we were so lucky to have a great BBQ spot from Park Ridge and unfortunately I was wrong. I know that sometimes you have a bad day, I usually give a fair chance to anywhere I eat, eating there multiple times before leaving a positive or negative review, and obviously consistency is important. I won’t be back. Today I ordered the 2 portions of meat and two sides, I got two briskets and their potato salad and Mac n cheese. I included a picture of the meat, not only was it an extremely small portion for two portions but it was extremely fatty and dry!!! Totally gross. 🤢 There were two small pieces that were actually edible. Their Mac n cheese is ok, definitely no better than frozen stouffers Mac n cheese, not to mention in my cup, they decided to include crunchy dried out noodles.. do you think they could have just avoided that spot and gave me just the fresh stuff? Nope. And their potato salad isn’t great in my opinion it’s too sweet, but my grandmother likes it. Their corn bread is good. The food could be really good, but obviously the people who work there are miserable and could care less about the food they serve up, the should have just sent me a FU with a picture of their middle fingers because that’s basically what they did with the food they packaged up for me. I’ll never understand how they put that crap in a box and sent it to me. Wasted my time, my money and ruined my Friday night dinner. Thank goodness I ordered from DoorDash so not only did they refund my money but gave an additional credit for the issue. Great customer service, certainly wasn’t their fault the food was a pile of crap. Thanks a lot...
