What a terrible experience, start to finish. The hapless hostess checked to see if a table was cleared and returned and asked us to follow her. We did, as she walked into the kitchen so she could get a towel to wipe the table down. Well, or move a wet towel over the table. It was still sticky.
There were no plates, napkins, or silverware on the table, and we weren't given a drinks menu. After about 10 minutes without anyone coming by, we finally flagged down someone who looked like the manager and got a drink menu.
The waitress finally showed up and we ordered everything right then, for fear we would never see her again. We did flag down someone again and ask for the table to be wiped down. The drink I had was nice.
The curds app was ok. A lot of oozed, empty curd shells, though. When our food arrived, they forgot my husband's tacos. Meanwhile, I noticed my burger was sitting in a puddle of some liquid (grease or juices) to the point I couldn't pick it up for the soaking bottom bun. So I cut it in two, and I'm glad I did. My medium burger wasn't even quite mid-rare. It was bright red all the way through. After setting the dish aside for about five minutes and awaiting anyone to walk by, we grabbed the same guy and pointed out that the burger was underdone. He then came back and asked what level of doneness I wanted and I said medium. He then said that that was their medium, that their mid-well was pink throughout, and well had some pink in the middle. I then asked for mid-well by that standard. When he returned, my burger was a real mid-well - a small stripe of pink in the middle.
Meanwhile, the hubby's fish tacos' shells were supposed to be soft tacos, but they had crisped (as if they were either stale or left on the griddle too long to heat up. My side salad was simply sad and had a bit of a musty smell to it when I got toward the bottom.
The hapless hostess struck again when she seated a couple next to us - it was a four-top and even though no one was seated on the other side, she placed them at the side of the table closest to us. It's a head-shaker.
The waitress finally checked back in on us, after my second burger was served and I was almost halfway done. When we expressed our disappointment at the burger issue, she did offer to by us a round of drinks on the house, but we were done by then. She then offered free dessert when we asked for the check, but again,...
Read more9/25 This place has changed dramatically since it opened, especially more recently. We were regulars and even had a party here a few yrs ago, but I no longer go.
First, the portion sizes have gone down drastically on many menu items and the prices have gone up a lot...
the fried chicken sandwich...used to be TWO huge breasts and it came out held together with a steak knife, could never finish it...now its one piece of chicken and a small one at that....similar thing with the salmon sandwich. It used to be much larger....last time i ordered it, the piece of salmon was so small, I literally took it and it was only big enough for 1/2 of the sandwich and there was only 1 piece of bacon on it as well....NOT worth the money. The burgers... For some reason, every single time I order a burger, they cook it the way they want to, not the way I ordered it and I have to send it back. If I order medium-rare, I don't want a well done burger....and this happened so many times, I literally stopped ordering burgers. The kicker was the elote pizza. We have ordered that pizza 20+ times over the years...always PACKED with toppings, to the point you could barely pick it up....last time the toppings were sparse at best...hardly any chicken at all. So sad and disappointing. The final straw was the bar staff last time we were in....we used to love the bar tenders...nice, attentive, etc...last time the person had a massive attitude for no apparent reason...would see we were out of water/drinks and never came to refil or ask if we wanted anything else...had to flag them down, even then took forever to get refils, in fact we asked the dude brining the food out for some water cause it took so long.
I haven't been back in a long time (over a year) because of these issues...so expensive and the portion/quality/service has gone down so drastically, that it's no longer a fun experience to go here any more....
Read moreOrder the cheese curds and ‘New Haven Style’ pizza. The one star is for the food, crappy service and ‘leadership’.
Cheese curds were delicious, Wisconsin style. Greasy, salty, etc.
The pizza on the other hand was not good. Had high expectations reading the reviews. If you’ve actually visited Sally’s or Bar in New Haven, CT, this is a hard pass. The sauce and cheese had zero flavor. No taste at all. It was bizarre. I had to uncap the parm cheese and dump it on my slice before eating attempting to eat it again. You want New Haven style pizza in IL, go to Piece.
Not only was service terrible, but it took 30 minutes to be acknowledged by our server, 20 mins there after for a glass for water. If it wasn’t for my friend, I would have left. The server/bussing staff kept bringing wrong orders to our table. It’s a good thing we settled on trying the 2 things we ordered, before adding more. So grateful we didn’t.
I tried to politely give the Manager feedback and he was not interested. He tried to blame me for asking for the pizza to be well done lol. “Well, that’s not how we do it here”. Asking for well done has never altered the flavor profile of the sauce or cheese to become tasteless. Your ingredients were lacking from the start. He also couldn’t be decent enough to recognize his staff is struggling. Shut down a section, regroup, provide support, etc. be a manager and take accountability, rather than blaming everyone else. Their staff is clearly overwhelmed and disorganized, lacking appropriate leadership to help drive any level of efficiency. One of the servers saw me frustrated, I asked “is there a manager above him”, they responded, “unfortunately, no”. That said enough. I don’t disagree with the other reviews/comments about the manager on Google. Try other places in Park Ridge, save yourself the...
