Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Maine Township

Omg! Best customer service ever! I ordered my daughter her ice cream but I made the mistake of ordering the wrong thing when it came I told them that it was wrong and I probably said it wrong. This guy who know I know is the owners brother says” give it to them and make them a new one of what she wanted” I thanked them so we were out side enjoying the wonderful goodness best custard ever! And I tell my friend I’m going to grab napkins the owners brother comes out to let some people in who were late they closed at 8 on Sundays they came 8:05 he said come in in and I told him that’s great customer service! He hears I’m going to get napkins he says “ stay I will grab some for you” as he is going back someone was waiting outside because he didn’t have a mask he told him here is a mask don’t ever wait outside because you don’t have a mask just ask! I love this place and their love for people he said “ I sale smiles!” Awesome awesome customer service! Did I mention you can taste...

Never been to Rita's before, but I am glad I tried. Frozen custard has a very creamy texture and buttery taste. It was much better than what I thought. However, the real deal was the Italian ice. I had the classic lemon and strawberry while my hubby got Margarita and coconut. It was not too icy and the texture was perfectly smooth, yet not watery. I loved all the fun flavor combinations from Swedish Fish to chocolate (!?) My hubby's had real fruit rinds and fruit pieces. I know my kids will definitely love all the creative flavors.The staff was so friendly and patiently served us as we tried all different flavors and combination. As Italian Ice goes, Rita's isn't anything special. I tried the mango flavor on recommendation from the staff. It was freezing cold, had a good texture, and was sufficiently sweet. The flavor however, was disappointing. It tasted very much like artificial flavoring.

I get it, it's a neighborhood place that wants to keep costs and prices low. My expectation for Italian Ice is real fruit flavor. Rita's doesn't meet that expectation and I don't see myself visiting often.
