We go to Finn's a lot. Always have great drinks and a great time. This time was different. My wife, adult daughter and I went and enjoyed some drinks after a slice at AJ's on 7/12. All was good until I went to check out. Earlier on, I noticed a sign at the register that said if you leave an unpaid tab over $100, you will be auto charged a 20% gratuity. That's all good and makes sense IF you leave without closing out your tab. I went to pay and the format of the receipt seemed different.. still all good. I then noticed that my tab was over $100 and I was auto charged a 20% tip! We were literally 10 ft from the bar actively ordering drinks. We did not leave without paying. I normally tip over 20% at bars for good service. I honestly felt taken advantage of. Obviously, I didn't add anything to the tip as I was just dumbfounded based on all my previous experiences with the great people at Finn's. It was noted we were a large party of THREE?? We were never waited on and I went to the bar for every drink and refill. I even brought the empties to the bar. Wow... I'm now questioning my choices in a place to have...
Read moreI'm visiting the area from out of town and found this local bar near my hotel. It look a while for my eyes to become adjusted to the dim lit neon sign imbued hole in the wall but I was pleasantly surprised once they did. It feels like a Midwest locals bar and on a Friday afternoon had a few regular locals spread around the long single bar with single service station. They didn't have a food menu which was was a bit of a let down but the draft beer was cheap and cold and the one elderly man bartender was friendly and pleasant. I could see myself having more than a few drinks after a long days work if I was a local myself. Seemed like a great place to escape from the hotel and experience the true salt of the earth small town feel. I would recommend to anyone moving through the area that wanted to experience small...
Read moreVery much your standard neighborhood bar. Nothing wrong with it, people are usually friendly and the drinks are usually made decently enough. For being a local bar, it is nice that it doesn't feel dirty and dingy.
I've been a few times to Finn's and in general it's always been a decent experience. When we go with groups of ladies, we find that there's always a few men that like to leer extra long and hard which we find a bit disconcerting, but luckily none of bothered to do more than that just yet. I can't always say the same for other bars we've gone to in town.
But by and large, this bar definitely has its share of regulars who are friendly and inviting. I'll definitely continue to come here when it hits the rotation for our...
