Update: 9/10/24 went back for the first time in months that horrible manager was not present so it was a much better experience. We are a very regular customer frequenting the diner 2 to 3 times a week. Up until today I would have given a much better review, but unfortunately the manager on duty “Jack” had a very poor attitude/tone. We waited 20 minutes just to get a glass of water, tea, and a mixed drink. Normally that is okay but it was not crowded at all. The double mixed drink was very weak. We ordered our meals and were waiting for an additional 10 minutes to be told the dish I ordered was not available. When trying to originally ordering were told several items were out of stock. So I made due and ordered a meal, at this point after waiting a complete 1/2hour I said never mind I do not want anything. Waitress immediately stated she is getting the manager, and seemed a bit annoyed, the manager told me he would take my meal off the check and my husband wanted his meal to go at this point. The manager did not apologize more stated they were out and just had a very bad attitude/tone. We decided to leave because we felt VERY unwelcomed. The manager was at the register with his attitude/tone he even told me I do not respect him. My reply is you need to give respect to receive it. The last time I checked I was a paying customer and I just wanted a meal without the added tension and tone. Also he felt that we should have paid for the mixed drink, that my husband did not drink for 2 reasons it was a poorly made drink and he did not have a meal to enjoy it, he was also driving. Did not want to drink a drink on an empty stomach. So cross this Diner off the list of a good place to enjoy a meal. I will not pay money to be treated badly and not even get to have a meal. Shame on Jack the manager. The other managers we have encountered have been great but apparently they cannot keep good help there. After the conversation I had I can see why. Prior to this terrible experience we even were moved by a manager away from a bug crawling across the table a few months back. Why I mentioned this is to the manager on duty, and she was very nice apologized for this situation and truly handled it. Unlike this guy. One more, the to go meal my husband just opened his meal and it was wrong so they could not even get a ham bacon cheese omelette correct. Geez, and I according to the manager am...
Read moreI’m an out of towner that visits family several times a year. Often times we will dine at either Knight & Day or at Lyndon diners. I haven’t had much problems with either establishments because it’s a no-frills eatery so to complain would be doing too much. At least in my point of view. That POV changed tonight, 10/13/23….
We were a party of three and walked into Lyndon. We were seated immediately at around 8:30 in a nice booth. As we chit chatted to catch up a server came up to us and said she would be with us shortly.
The server’s name is Avon, from what the receipt printed. She was very slow in all types of ways. When we began our orders she was confused on a menu item that she had to ask a couple of times. No worries right. But when we finally finished giving our orders the real ‘fun’ was yet to be had.
We waited about 25min until we received our complete meals for the three of us. I kindly reminded Avon about the side of dressing I’d made clear upon ordering earlier. She nodded as to assume she understood.
She never got around to getting that side dressing nor did she ever remember to ask ‘how we were doing’ BUT not forgetting to ask the table next to us the same. Odd but it happened.
Avon would pass our table about half a dozen times and NEVER did she stop to ask if we needed anything. I stopped making eye contact because what was the point?!?! She wasn’t going to respond with action.
This is the point where I was so upset that I wanted to leave the bare minimum in tip. But with a clear head I decided to tip 20% because it’s the right thing to do. Even though Avon fell way short on service and warmth!!
The next time I decide to dine at Lyndon again(?) I will kindly ask to NOT be seated in Avon’s section if she’s there working. But that’s a big IF, if I decide to go back. Sad it had to be this way but Miss Avon decided to not be bothered by our party of three but perhaps was a peach to other tables she had been in addition to us.
I hope this reaches management and maybe it...
Read moreA diner that is stuck in the past but not in a good way. Where is the love for the food?
Pretty dissapointed with the food. This diner seems to be living on an older reputation from long time locals. The food is just not special. No real care. 2 of the 5 things i ordered were decent thus the 2/5 rating on food. And it's just your basic breakfast stuff. If you cant get basics like bacon done right, I'm not gonna test things by eating fish or pasta that's for sure. I had a craving for Pancakes. Strangest tasting pancakes. Is it all spice in there? 5 spice? When have you said that the pancakes aste strange at a diner? McDonalds pancakes are better. Seriously. Eggs and potatoes were well cooked. Eggs nice and fluffy. Whew. The sausages look suspect. The bacon is pathetic. The kind of bacon where it's all stuck together about 2 inches thick and has been sitting there all day. Maybe it was made in the morning. Maybe. Food kind of took a long time to come and it wasnt very busy. Perhaps 6 tables full at 11pm on a saturday night. Food took long enough that you might as well cook bacon to order. At least than one of the meats was made with some love.
Night manager guy was kind of rude with our questions. Dont deliver the food for the waitress if u dont want to be possibly asked for condiments. Guy looked annoyed. Maybe he can clean the dirty menus? The menus are a good sign the place is full of unhappy employees and standards. They look years old and dirty.
Some of the desserts in the cabinet looked old and nasty.
Waitress was very nice.
That bacon and sausage is unacceptable. How can someone complain about pancakes flavor? And I dont mind basic Bisquik with a little cinnamon and vanilla extract. I'm easy to please. Come on. Where...
