Border Burger Bar — Restaurant in Manitou Springs

10 OUT OF 5 STARS. WILL ABSOLUTELY GO AGAIN!! I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars, because this restaurant and its staff deserve better than 5 stars. The wife and I spent a week up in Manitou last week for her birthday, and as she's from NH I made sure to take her everywhere. THIS was out favorite spot and favorite experience out of the entire week, hands down. The manager greeted and seated us and he was just a fountain of knowledge about the place. We were being waited on in no time at all. Our servers name was Brandi W, the W must stand for wow because WOW. She was by far the most incredible server I've ever had, not only did we have her, but she was training two new servers as well and did so great! It felt like we just had this team of incredible people making sure we had the absolute best experience possible. Now for the other important part, the food. Oh my WORD, THE FOOD. I will stand by this when I say I had the best burger I've ever had in my life, as did the Mrs. Now, for me, I was diagnosed with Celiacs about 5-6 years ago, so eating out has become very difficult. Both in ensuring I don't get sick, and taste quality because I'll always be the first celiac to admit that nothing is the same without gluten! This place, proved me wrong for once. Not only was my preparation perfect and safe, but the gluten-free bun was to DIE FOR! So incredibly delicious you would NEVER know the difference, not even my gluten eating wife could tell. Lovvvvvved this restaurant!!! The food honestly was so good! I came with friends and family. We got drinks, apps and burgers and not one complaint on the food!!!! Dom was our server, and I think he may have been new. He seemed very flustered. While the service wasn’t necessarily great.. our food and drinks were sooooooo good and we did enjoy ourself. As long as you’re willing to be patient. The food is definitely worth it!!! Also want to make note our server wasn’t bad. He was so nice and friendly he just seemed very new. He messed up an order, took awhile to get drinks and sides of sauce and seemed like he was rushing. However we did really enjoy our experience! We got the boarder burger (8.5/10) the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich (8.7/10) the all American burger (8.6/10) the Mac and cheese sub chicken (the chicken did not get subbed and he messed up and gave her beef instead of chicken at first but overall rating 9/10) the Louisiana spicy chicken sub grilled (8.7/10) we all got fries (8.5/10) just letting you know the ketchup sucks but the ranch was definitely a (9/10). Cat fish bites(they didn’t have enough for a full order so they gave us what was left and an additional order: (8.7/10) the app sampler: mozzarella sticks (5.5/10 they are FAT) fried pickles (8.8/10) mashed potatoes bites: VERY CLOSE TO 10/10 but maybe 9.8/10. I had high expectations with this place. We got in quickly and were seated out side on a Friday at 2 pm. The water cup came out and had a white glob n the inside of the cup. The waitress corrected it quickly. After we had been waiting for our food for around 30 minutes, It began to rain. After a few more minutes, she apologized about it taking so long, said they lost our order, and asked if we would like to move inside. That was a nice offer BUT Unfortunately we got seated at the bar with our 7 year old, which was less than ideal… but we did finally get our food. The burger was very undercooked, visibly red, and was chewy with zero flavor other than the smattering of toppings they put on top. I guess they use all of their fancy toppings to hide the flavorless, chewy meat. Or maybe they slapped it together quickly since they apparently lost our order. Anyway… it was almost inedible, I basically ate the toppings off the top. Once we were reseated, The bar tender asked if we need anything then when I asked for a drink she said we moved from outside she couldn’t help. Fine. Then she asked who my server was. I did not know her name as there were many servers and she got mouthy about how I couldn't describe them. At this point I had had it. Bar tender was rude, they lost our order and took forever, burger was way undercooked and bland, fries were over cooked and tiny, and they sat a 7 year old at the bar.
