Mushroom Monday — Local services in Manitou Springs

This used to be one of my favorite stores to shop at whenever I would visit Manitou. Over the last few years, I've spent quite a bit of money there. Well, today ruined this store for me. I went in their with my friend, his daughter, my daughter, and my two nieces. The two women at the register heard me tell all of the kiddos when we walked in "now ladies, put your hands in your pockets, and don't touch anything." We were there less than five minutes when one of the ladies walked over and proceeded to watch all of us like a hawk. Especially all my girls. I felt COMPLETELY unwelcome and like a criminal. I told my friend that my girls and I were leaving because they're is no way I'm staying somewhere or shopping where the employees are going to treat me and my girls like thieves. I looked directly at the woman when I said it loud enough for her to hear, I grabbed my girls and we left. My friend and his daughter followed right behind. None that was with me or myself are thieves!! After reading the reviews, this kind of behavior seems to be common here. I understand watching for theft however, treating your customers like this is so rude, and bad for business. I like to shop peacefully and without a paranoid worker following me like it's a daycare. Sadly, my family and I won't be back, which is sad as I really loved this place. If you have children or teens with you, don't even bother because they'll do the same thing to...

Very cool store but a creepy male employee was staring at me, my teen and preteen daughter and her friend the entire time; following us around the store. I get its a small company and watching for theft but vommon, be discreet about it. I ended up leaving buying anything because of how uncomfortable this was.

Hi shop owner: I’m a middle age women who was decently dressed. I don’t need to steal your $2-$20 toys and neither do my kids. I will never be going back there. Your employee should stop creeping on young girls before he gets in trouble with one. Or was it racial profiling? Good luck with the theft but there are better ways to deal with it. Rude employees!! We bought a bunch of stuff and my kids bought geodes. An employee told them to put them in socks to break them so I paid and they ran outside, took their socks off and started breaking them, they're kids! All of them broke perfectly but my daughter's sock ripped and a tiny piece flew out and tapped the window. Employee "Olivia" walked out and yelled "really?" My husband said "it was a tiny piece and didn't crack the window, calm down", she then yelled "go somewhere". I went in to get her name and she was still being a smart a**. I don't appreciate being talked to crazy and it was outright disrespectful and an embarrassment...
