Ugh, where do I even begin with The Loop in Manitou Springs? My sister was visiting from out of town, and we were looking forward to a nice meal based on some of the reviews we'd seen. Boy, were we ever wrong. First off, the food was just plain awful. Seriously, how do you mess up enchiladas? They managed it. And the tamales? They tasted like they'd been marinating in vinegar. Just disgusting. For that kind of quality, you'd expect the prices to be rock bottom, but nope - we shelled out $70 for this garbage. The service was somehow even worse than the food. Our waiter seemed to be actively avoiding us. He spent most of his time planted at the bar with his laptop or wandering around chatting on his phone. No smiles, no checking in, simply take orders and deliver terrible food. And it wasn't even busy! There were maybe three other tables occupied. The whole place felt dirty, which just added to the unpleasantness. I honestly don't understand how this place has any good reviews. Maybe we caught them on a spectacularly bad day with multiple staff sitting around and physical dirt on the floors, but honestly, I wouldn't risk it. Save your money and your taste buds and go somewhere else. We definitely won't be back. Good luck if you decide to try it – you'll probably need it!

I was born in Mexico and moved to the US 25yrs ago. To date, the only times I’m able to enjoy Chile Rellenos and yellow Spanish rice is with my mother or grandmother. I was really surprised to find one that was on par with that of my mother/grandmother and Chile Relleno that, I dare say, was even better than their Chile Rellenos altogether. The sauce was spicy and rich. The rice was soft and fluffy with the right amount of vegetables. I can’t believe they put lima beans in the rice! The beans were creamy and consistent. I was asked how I wanted my steak and I got it just the way I wanted. THE ONLY DOWNFALLs, was their flour tortillas. They appeared to be store bought and not made in-house. I questioned why at a place with such delicious plates and great beers, they didn’t provide good in-house tortillas. The cheese inside the Chile Relleno was so good, which left me wondering why they used mixed string cheese for their toppings. I didn’t have a chance to try their other plates. Other than that, I’m sad that I won’t be able to frequent this place seeing that I’m from a different state, but I’m at least happy to know that there’s a small place at the bottom of a peak that duplicates authentic Chile Rellenos con Arroz.

I enjoyed the food and service, but their menus are intentionally misleading. (Losing a star for that one, Loop!) They "chose" a font for the numbers on the menu that has ridiculously small "1" and "2" numerals, making "17.50" look like "$7.50" (as most "$s" are smaller and raised in front of the first number in a price). I actually had to get out a magnifying sheet that I carry with me to see in order to be sure that I was seeing a "1" instead of a "$". Other than that, I liked the California burrito and the tostada from my friend's plate. In fact, I think I liked the overloaded "old style" tostada with ground beef the best. The enchilada was as disappointing as all restaurant enchiladas are. I was glad that the server warned me that the sauces that came with the California burrito were very, very spicy and offered to bring me some regular red sauce (same as that served with the chip salsa?). I dipped a tine of my fork in one of the sauces, and it was MEAN. I can't imagine eating that, and I am a Cajun, raised on cayenne pepper. Btw, the first basket of chips and salsa are free; refills are about $4 each; this is on the bottom of one of the menu pages.

Come here to get punched in the face!

I came here with some friends for Cinco de Mayo after completing the incline. We sat down around 2:30pm and after 20 mins of waiting our server finally came by to take our order and we each ordered one margarita and a meal. (We understand it’s a holiday and they are busy, this wasn’t what upset us) The table next to us had about 10-12 people and were clearly very intoxicated. They were screaming, slamming drinks, banging on tables, and overall being extremely rowdy for a Sunday afternoon. We could not hold a conversation at our table because of the noise level. They continued to be served shots and margaritas. All tables in the room were visibly annoyed. Eventually a member of our party had enough and stepped in because the staff was not. She asked them to keep it down saying “you are not the only table in here”. They did not like that and proceeded to scream and threaten us with physical violence. Saying “this is going to end badly for you, we are from Ohio” No manager or server came by to address or de-escalate the situation. We continued to try to have a good time at our table, but they kept heckling us. Calling us names and throwing ice at our table. Eventually they paid and were ready to leave. As they were walking out they threw a full glass of water at everyone at our table. The situation quickly escalated and ended with a woman from their group punching several people in our party REPEATEDLY in the face. Staff stood by and watched. One member of our party was badly hurt. Not one person of the staff came by to see if he was okay or offer any aid. Eventually our server did come by and gave us 10% off our bill and a t-shirt for our troubles. We never saw a manager and paid over $300 for this experience. We are local and will...

I rarely leave reviews…. I walked in with my family, a party of 5. We got seated and got a round of water followed by waitress #1 taking our drinks, to this point everything was going perfect. Another young geleman approached us to check and make sure everything was okay and our drinks were ordered, he then proceeded to ask if we were ready for our orders. I replied I needed more time since my family had gone to wash their hands and had not had a chance to looks at the menu. Now this is where my experience with this restaurant tanked, nobody came to us to take our orders, 10-15 mns passed and my sister got out to the hostess and asked if someone could take our order…. Another 10 mns passed and we decided to get up and leave. On the way out the young gentleman finally came to asked what have happened, after my sister explained the situation, he decided to just said “you guys are good” we a tone of just leave. He did not offer an apology or attempted to bring us back in and get our business. I then told my family to wait outside and addresses the young man, that I wanted to pay for the drinks as I did not appreciate it his tone at all. He insisted it was fine but I told him I need it to pay for my drinks Which he finally accepted. No apology no nothing even after I asked to speak to the manager, young man’s told me he was the manager…

I definitely think this is one of the best spots to eat just the employees need training with their customers skills. Hopefully it gets addressed as I look forward to coming back if the issue...

Hi there, I usually don't give out reviews but I wanted to compliment the staff and make some criticisms known. The staff here clearly care about their customers and their community. I watched an employee help someone who was less fortunate which I absolutely love, its great to see that they want to help others. In my opinion the food was amazing, I ordered the shrimp de creme which was very delicious. I love the portions they gave, it was a good amount of food for the price. My two friends also enjoyed their food which was good because they are picky eaters so it was nice that they really liked their food. I don't have many criticisms but I can think of two, I think the service could be done quicker. It took us a while to get our drinks and salsa/chips (side note the salsa was freaking great. I love the spice lol) which was understandable because they were busy. Another thing I noticed was the cleanliness, I don't judge based off of dust and whatnot but I will say that they should hire a professional cleaning company to do some stuff like cleaning the ceiling vents, the walls and possibly the floors. I would also recommend moving the filing cabinets out of the dining area but I completely understand that some of the buildings in Manitou are smaller and its difficult to do that. I'll definitely be coming back and bringing others who enjoy...
