We looked forward to eating here. Took my brother while he was in town visiting. The person at the front who seated us was awesome. I wish I got his name. Saw us waiting at the front, sat us down, wiped down the table. He rocked. The waitress outside ignored us. She even went around the patio tables section (where we were seated) and topped off everyone’s drinks and asked if they wanted more food. She made eye contact with us but never came to say she’d be right with us. A table came in and got seated shortly after us. They got service within 5 minutes. We waited for 15 minutes before walking out. We are not white. Everyone else was. Hope that paints a picture.
Update: As a heavily rooted military family that has members serving in ALL branches as well, your dismissive comment does nothing to rectify the situation. An appropriate response would have been to have me reach out to your manager or the owner (I guess that’s you unfortunately) to discuss the situation further and a way to make it right.
Lastly, thank you for your service, but please don’t use your military experience as leverage to say there’s no possibility of racism. The military is currently trying to rectify systemic racism issues that the old military guard would allow to persevere and has been plaguing the branches for decades. 20+ years of service is certainly no easy feat! Which years did you serve again? Also, Did all your servers serve in the military as well? If not, your point is moot. While you may claim to hire people of all ethnicities, we certainly didn’t see any in the front of the house.
Bottom line up front: We were not even acknowledged by the only server in our section for over 15 minutes other than eye contact and a smirk while we watched her, and eventually another waitress seat, serve, and take orders for folks that came in after us; we did not even get a “I’ll be right with you” or a gesture of getting us waters. We know that sometimes staff can be overwhelmed and are understanding of that. We always give people the benefit of the doubt, but that was too long a time. It was frustrating to watch your servers continue to ignore us and help others seated 2 feet away from us, so we decided to leave. If you can justify, THAT, I’m open to a response. Other than that, just acknowledge that your staff has an issue and fix it.
Perhaps you should canvas the demographic of individuals that have made reviews of similar experiences and internalize that. Or did you automatically discredit what they’re saying as well? Happy upcoming...
Read moreI had always been thinking that I wanted to try this place when I would walk by in Manitou Springs. It looked fun on the huge patio where you would think that you'd be able to spread out. They have a nice that says that they are welcoming to nice dogs. The manager greets you super gruff, ushering me quickly outside. "Let's get your dog outside" like of course I know that, I am thinking... that's where we were planning to sit, and was interestedin them becausethey have such a large patio...we got brushed off to whatever table with these outdoor chairs where you are sitting on the metal frame instead of the worn out netting...so, I am sitting here uncomfortable for a while. The sweet kids of a server apologize because he wasn't told I was there. And then when after getting my drink, I am eyeing a more comfortable chair(later I certainly wasn't the only one switching their chairs with the worn out ones)...and I switch them from another table....the manager rushes over to make sure I wasn't switching tables. Good thing I wasn't. Geez! Zero friendliness at all from the "manager." Later I really wished that I did "switch rows" because the lady that was working the other row brought me a glass of water that I had asked for before and then she offered a water bowl for my dog which was really nice. I guess no one is allowed to be in the "row" that is a long the fence, sidewalk, and plants to people watch. Obviously single people would enjoy that away from people and obviously that would be the more popular row, but it was mostly left empty...and a couple minutes after I switched chairs with one of the tables, another couple got to sit there so i certainly don't see the big deal in sitting there. The manager needs to chill. He has zero Manitou energy that's for sure. I'd have to say, no wonder there is a sign that says it's for rent. It's always either saying that it's under new management or for rent ir whatever. The sweet kids that are servers there are really nice. Wow. I don't think the kid was joking when he says, "before my boss yells at me, let me check your IDs." We'll see what it...
Read moreIt was a really odd time. Usually my family and I go every once in a while and everything is fine, this time however, multiple things were happening to us as well as to other customers around us. The biggest concern that I had, was how they had completely misplaced my debit card. All I ordered was two shots, I gave the waitress my card and she went in with it since we were outside. About 5-7min later she came back out with a receipt of my purchase but no card. When I followed her back inside to say the card was missing, she had no urgency and just shrugged and said “I must’ve dropped it while walking around, you can look outside to see if it landed there,” which had me absolutely dumbfounded. She then began to run another card she had, and another waitress decided to go outside with me and look around frantically, unable to find it. I went back in with the waitress that attempted to help, and she was asking the original where she had been. Again, my original waitress wasn’t too concerned with the fact that she had lost my card. The waitress that was helping me, then went around the register where the kitchen was, and after about 3 more minutes, said she found my card in the trash can. I have so many questions, why was my card in the trash? Why was it so far away from the register (and she had no plates or anything walking in because I could see the door where the register sat, nor did she have anything but a handful of receipts coming out, so again why was it away from the register?!) and when I came out other people according to other party members with me, stated that the table beside us were all wiping their cards off because they were all wet.. I don’t know what happened within that rough 10min timeframe with my card but I know for sure I am canceling it because things are not adding up and honestly the experience put a bad taste in my mouth. Lack of care as well as having a bad feeling that something happened with my card. And the only “apology” I got was how the card must’ve been flung somehow while she was walking around...
