I'm not one to usually leave a bad review but my experience at this new restaurant was very poor. We arrived at opening time and were seated immediately. We were not spoken to or had drink orders taken for over 15 minutes. The wait staff were all standing in the corner speaking to each other instead. After finally getting our orders we were told it would be 25 minutes for food. A waitress removed our plates and chopsticks from the table and placed them onto another table, which we thought strange and uncleanly considering we had been touching those plates. After 45 minutes my pork soup dumplings arrived and we had to ask for plates and chopsticks to eat. Which took 10 minutes to get the eating utensils back. All but one of my dumplings were stuck together and to the bottom of the container so the soup poured all over the table from the steam holes, but we had no napkins to clean the mess. This was incredibly frustrating considering I only had 4 very small dumplings for the price of $12 and only got to enjoy 1 of them. We were not checked on when the food arrived or received any drink refills. We attempted to flag down wait staff multiple times and we were looked at and then ignored. The flavor of the one intact dumpling was pretty good hence the 2 star food rating. My husband did not receive his food at the time my food came out. After finishing my meal and waiting an additional 25 minutes for his food we had to flag down a waitress once again and request they cancel the rest of the order and give us the check. We both left hungry and disappointed. I worked in restaurants for many years so I try to be understanding when it comes to services, however I feel like for a new restaurant I would anticipate the staff would attempt to provide good service to create a good reputation. Unfortunately that was not the case this time. I understand new restaurant will have some kinks to work out, but I've never been so frustrated at a restaurant before. If you have to wave down staff to get service please install buttons to call or something and let people know during seating that is the expectation. If that's not the case at this restaurant I really hope the service gets fixed. I'm hoping some of these negative reviews will get the attention of the owners and perhaps good changes will be made. I would like to retry this restaurant cause the flavor of my one dumpling was good. So hopefully the services will improve for a better experience next time, but I won't be returning for quite some time in hopes they get...
Read moreAs someone who grew up surrounded by taiwanese food, I don't think I will be going back unless there is an update on the quality of their food.
Our table ordered the smash cucumbers, spicy wonton, chicken and corn dumplings, pork soup dumplings, and pan fried bao.
the smash cucumbers are definitely something that was thrown together quickly as they just felt like cucumbers cut and had some sauces thrown on them. it truly felt like something I could make at home, and the price did not justify how it was lazily made.
the spicy wontons had an amazing sauce but i could not ignore the chewy undercooked wonton wrapper. the wrapper of the wontons felt very wrong to bite into as i'm used to the soft easy to eat wontons served everywhere else. the staff assured us that it was cooked so i took their word for it. the inside seemed fully cooked so i have zero clue why the wonton wrapper had such a weird chewy and undercooked like texture.
the chicken and corn dumplings didn't even come out as we were informed at the end that they were out of them. i'm not sure why we were not told that while we ordered them but the staff did say we could choose something else to replace it with or just get rid of it.
the soup dumplings were really redeeming this place. however i noticed a somewhat weird after taste when tasting the meat of the soup dumplings. it could be because i am used to certain flavors but it was not a very unpleasant taste so i did not care. the wrapper of the soup dumpling was cooked perfectly and the soup inside was delectable.
the pan fried dumplings only came with three so be sure to order more if you plan on sharing them. the meat to bun ratio was acceptable and there was some juice inside the bun for a nice suprise. the buns were crispy and the meat was savory. truly a star item.
the staff here seemed to all be younger kids, and they all had very good manners. their attitude and way they treated us definitely earned them a star for their stellar performance.
overall if you are someone who has never had taiwanese food i would say to give this place a try. however if you are someone who frequently eats taiwanese food i would say to skip this place and opt to spend your money where you know you will get good...
Read moreHorrible food, bad service but a Cute place. So far the EVERYTHING we experienced has a LONG WAY to go. Waited 30min after arriving at 4:55pm… waited ANOTHER 20 minutes to even take a drink order. The restaurant is STIFLING HOT, and I mean 80 degrees EASY! Half the food we tried to order was NOT available. So we settled on the most expensive main dish, the Peking Duck, told it would be at least a twenty minute wait for it… okay. Let’s see how it all is… Nope… FAIL. First off: you DONT get as many dumplings and buns that are in the pics. If it shows five, you’re going to get three or four. If it shows four, you’re going to get only three. Got brought one steamed item at a DANG TIME! Pan fried dumplings were fried so hard they were HARD as a rock. Soup dumplings RIPPED trying to get them out the tray, and all the soup dumped out before being able to enjoy. They ran out of soda halfway through our meal. So we reverted to only water. No dishes/steamers and used glasses were EVER removed from our table, making it a very messy experience. People who wanted certain things had to wait longer than others… a very INEFFICIENT way of presenting food as one by one is NOT Acceptable. Me being the gentleman, I let everyone else who is eating to get food before me. I didn’t eat until the main dish FINALLY CAME OUT. The Full order was placed at 6:09pm… my Half order of Peking Duck was delivered to the table at 6:55pm and was STONE COLD. Nobody ate it after one bite but me, because I was starving by then, having not ate since 7am. I ate about half and started getting CHOPPED UP BONES! They cut my gums!! When the waitress finally came up and asked us if we enjoyed our meal, to which everyone said NO! She just thanked us and gave us our check as if she already knew what we were going to say. For spending over $100 for four people and leaving hungry was bullcrap. My wife took our two teenage daughters to Walmart to get pizzas for some actual real food. We will stick with ABC Seafood on Arkansas for the best dim sum, dumplings and buns around town. It’s an older place, but not this fake, stale and cold stuff that Happy...
