Relaxing vibe, friendly staff, and well-crafted lattes, sandwiches, and yummy soups. Imagine a charming small-town atmosphere packed into a cozy but upscale coffee shop, with the best of both worlds. Indoors, the familiar suburban coffee shop vibe, wood floors, magnolia-type decor, and the hum of meetings, cheerful chatter, and relaxing music. Outside: a wrap-around covered porch populated by dozens of cheerful yellow chairs and tables presents an oasis for those of us who live to sit outdoors, rain or shine, winter or summer, with all the refreshment of breezes and fresh air to inspire a bit of writing, a productive hour or two of work, or a retreat from it all. We patronize this place every week as part of a day off. Things to try: right now, #pumpkin soup, the autumn crisp latte, and the loose leaf teas are especially enjoyable. If you need a good boost, I suggest the cortado, which this place makes more like the authentic ones I learned to enjoy in Miami. They serve it with a small bottle of cold Topochico. All the baked goods are amazing, home made by a young woman who works there, but I am especially addicted to the cinnamon scone (it has a cream cheese filling). When I’m skipping meat, my fave vegetarian menu items are: Avocado sandwich —always creamy and refreshing. Grilled cheese—when I’m feeling juvenile Pimento Cheese—homemade Not vegetarian but I love the club sandwich and the paninis here. Salads are always fresh. Best soups: roasted red pepper, broccoli/cheddar, and not vegetarian but the chicken and dumplings and the chicken poblano soup are...
Read moreFirst-timer and I would go back. I believe they recently moved to this location. It’s in an old house repurposed as a restaurant. The house is very nice and makes a cozy little place to eat. The house has large windows and lets in plenty of sunshine. The porch is an outside seating area, which would be nice on a pleasant day. There were few customers inside, and it was quiet.
The staff was very friendly, polite, and welcoming. The service was prompt.
I ordered the 1/2 Combo and a coffee. The combo was half a sandwich and a cup of soup. The roast beef sandwich had cheese, lettuce, and tomato, on a nut / grain type of bread. I also had the chicken noodle soup, which is all they had 45 minutes before closing time. I probably would have ordered that or something similar anyway.
The food was tasty. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The roast beef was tender, the noodles in the soup were really soft, and the black, drip-coffee was excellent.
My only complaint is that the portions were small, especially as my bill came to $10.45. It’d be nice if the 1/2 Combo came with chips or fresh fruit to make more filling. After $10, I should be full. That was more of a snack than a meal.
The location, ambiance, service, and food added up to a pleasant experience, though. I would...
Read moreWhat a cute coffee and sandwich shop! From the outside this cute periwinkle blue converted home has you wondering if you have the right location. Up the porch steps and through a giant door the inside has a small coffee shop feel with couches on the right and a restraint feel with tables and chairs on the left. They can get crowded for lunch so plan accordingly as there are limited tables. There are seats and tables on the porch too!
The menu includes several coffee options as well as sandwiches, paninis and soup. I went with a soup & half panini- broccoli cheddar and the VIP. The VIP includes turkey, bacon, American cheese, tomato and mayo. The other soup option that day was chicken and dumpling. The sandwich is a little flat visually but the flavor was there! For me the portion size was perfect for lunch but I do worry others may expect more. I also enjoyed the soup. With each plate you receive a Hershey kiss.
Drinks they offer a soda machine as well as cucumber water and homemade (I’m assuming) iced tea.
I definitely recommend coming in for a coffee relaxing on the couch or porch or try their food for lunch! I look forward to...
