The Backyard — Restaurant in Mansfield

It was my first time dining outside in a long time and trying out this establishment. I now remember why I stopped dining outside. Bees, and flies were a nuisance. Smh I ate some tacos from Taqueria Ventana. The tacos were there. I ordered 2 lengua, 1 barbacoa, and the taco of the month which was fish. I didn't know the corn tortillas were going to be dry. I didn't take into consideration that not all restaurants double up on the tortillas and cook them with oil to soften up the tortillas. The lengua and barbacoa tacos didn't come with onions and cilantro and the flavor was pretty bland. The fish taco was ok. I didn't know the fish was going to be a fried fish stick/steak. If that was the case I wouldn't have ordered it. I will admit it was doctored up with slaw and some type of sauce. So that helped out alot with the dry corn tortilla. I asked for Tajin with my margarita. When the waitress brought my drink to the table there was no Tajin. I asked for a bottled water when I ordered my food. Asked the waitress about the water, when the food was brought out l. She said she would have to verify if it was placed in with the order.. She walked back inside for a few minutes and returned with the water. I don't understand why the beverages were not given at the time the order was placed. Maybe I am over analyzing. I will return to try out the other restaurants the Backyard has to offer. Unfortunately, I will not return to this establishment. Once again the employees were nice. I just didn't care...

The Backyard is located in the Historic Downtown district of Mansfield, TX, offering a Backyard patio experience with 3 restaurants and a brewery!

This fine establishment is located off Main Street with plenty of street parking and a parking lot located behind it on Broad. The restaurants include Twisted Root, where they serve burgers, shakes, and chicken tenders with many varietys of pickles to choose from. There is Del Torro BBQ that serves BBQ and sides. Inside Del Torro is By the Horns brewery that has a bar inside. Lastly, there is taqueria La Ventana that serves tacos, bowls, burritos, and margaritas.

There is ample seating throughout this venue where you can sit either inside the restaurants or in The Backyard with many benches and tables. During the winter months, they provide heaters to keep you warm. They also have a small gazebo to sit at as well. Ther have cornhole to play as well and other board games such as Jenga. The Backyard team and staff does a great job keeping the grounds nice and clean to provide great service to the guest while keeping the value and prices fair and average. Overall, this is such a nice place to go to and have some drinks while eating some tasty food and enjoying the beautiful...

Note there is not a restaurant Backyard. It is a site where there are multiple restaurants and a brewery at the location. I met my daughter there for lunchtime. It was a beautiful day. Our waiter was super nice. They were out of brisket and that is what I wanted. The pulled pork was good though. The place was very clean and had plenty of seating. The directions got us to the parking lot, but it was very confusing on where to go for the Backyard restaurant. The signage is only in the front, so depending on which way you come from you either don’t know where to park or you don’t realize you are at the right place when you’re in the parking lot. I would suggest getting more signage on where to park for the backyard and more signage from the parking lot the whole area is the Backyard with different restaurants.
