I have never had to leave a 0 dollar tip in my life until tonight. We always tip highly especially when we know they are struggling but this was not the case tonight. The cashier (wearing sunglasses at night lol) and bartender were extremely absent and lazy. As the hour went by i realized the couple next to us felt the same about their 2 dollar tip still left on the counter and their barspace still uncleaned. Written on their bill. $2 LOL. Food excellent.!!! Staff aweful. My husband and I were stuck here for over 2 and a half hours tonight as we refused to leave our bill unpaid. We had to get the attention of the staff to have our bill paid as the main cashier and bartender walked out many times and we're on their phone ignoring customers. What a shame. I feel for the kitchen staff. They are excellent cooks. I seen an amazing freah salad and burgers come out tonight but we did not get a chance to order anything other than an appetizer. We thought the whole staff had quit until the kitchen staff came out to ring in new customers. What a shame. Applause to the kitchen for stepping up. If there were an atm we would have tipped the kitchen very highly as we used to work in the kitchen ourselves. We seen three grest cooks .I easily would have tipped $100 EACH. If any cook from this kitchen reads this, you were the bomb and I hope I see you again in a well deserved environment. Every burger and every dish looked excellent. Owner needs to let go of those two. I was wondering why it was so dead until an hour and a half went by and very much hungry and ready to order to get home. The bartender didn't even apologize. This alone is what made me give a zero dollar tip. My husband and I are very sad for the back of house. They are what kept it running tonight. Wish I would have had a chance to order but the front of the house failed badly. The back of the house kept the place running. Thay were already doing jobs that were not their responsibility so we chose to eat at home instead of burdening the back of house even further. We will...

Twisted Root Burger is located in Historic Downtown Mansfield, TX, in The Backyard, serving great burgers, chicken tenders, shakes, and more!

We came through on a weekday after the lunch rush, and it was fairly crowded but placed our order in seconds. The ordering concept is easy as to where you place your order with the cashier in the front, and they give you a name card and call it when the food is ready. Our name for the day was "Elizabeth Taylor," and our food was ready in minutes. There are plenty of tables and booths inside the restaurant, and they also have a full service bar for alcoholic beverages and also serve By the Horns draft beer. The interior was decorated nicely and had a lot of pictures and photos to look at. They even had the famous lamp leg that was featured on the move The Christmas Story. There are also barrels filled with different flavors of pickles to choose from to complement your meal. The options for pickles were dill, ranch, bread & butter, sweet & spicy, and atomic.

We ended up getting the onion strings and chicken tenders with house made potato chips. The chicken tenders were nicely coated and cooked to perfection. They were seasoned well and very juicy, and I must say the dipping sauce paired very nicely with the tenders. The house made potato chips were deep-fried golden brown and tasted like the perfect chip while the onion strings were lightly battered and were very addicting as to where you found yourself constantly eating more and more. They also provided house condiments such as ketchup, a root beer BBQ sauce, Chipotle ketchup, and horseradish Dijon mustard.

Overall, this fine establishment was great to get a quick bite and drinks with friends and family. They have an awesome happy hour on drinks with multiple TVs by the bar area. Prices were fair and average while the service was great, and the staff did an amazing job with customer service. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more items like the cheese fries and the fried green beans...

I guess you could say the fries were ok. The cook seemed to like them because he was eating them occasionally as he prepared mine and other people's food. Aside from the fries, the rest was average.

This is not the first time I have been to the Twisted Root in Mansfield. And I have gone to other Twisted Root locations before and they were consistently pretty good. I knew this one was pretty bad last time I went but my wife and I decided to give it another shot. I recommend you don't waste your time. The food is subpar and the service is almost non-existant.

It seems like basically a bunch of high school kids trying to keep crap together. It was a Friday night and it was packed. When a table freed up, it would take the bus boy several minutes to get stuff figured out, so a lot of people sat at tables with other people's trash while they waited for their food. I'm not sure what he is doing when he disappears in back, probably washing dishes, but either it's too much for one person or he's not working as hard as he should.

I placed a big order, 71 dollars. It's a good thing they get tip at POS because there is no way I would tip again. We ordered burgers and the appetizer where it is all the fried items in one plate. I watched probably 5 or 6 people who ordered after me get served before me. I finally got tired of waiting and stood in front of the counter and the girl filling the orders noticed me and my order was given to me with only half of the food stuff. One of the burgers was cold by the time the order was picked up. They legit forgot about it or something. She didn't have everything ready yet she still called my name. We ordered before it got really really busy, so this was frustrating. We expected better service.

Unless some major changes are made, I will not go back. Also, would it kill you guys to put in a hand sanitizer station? Having to walk outside and use the outdoor sink where only 1 of 3 soap dispensers has soap in it...come...

Placed an online order for Saturday pick up 7:50pm, got to the counter at 7:50pm, left with food at 8:32pm. We were more hungry at that point and ate there instead, but the food was served warm at best and tasted okay, not taking into account our taste of disappointment in the experience. Observations in the 42 minutes of waiting: * Tickets being printed (orders placed online and in person) were printing faster than they can serve food (shown in photo) * At least 6 burgers (shown in photo) were thrown away after sitting for at least 15 minutes. They had buns, meat and cheese plated but were waiting on toppings. Toppings didn't arrive so into the trash bin it went * The person calling out orders was doing the best she could, not sure how she manages to keep her sanity if this was a typical night * A cup of seasoning for fries was handled by hand with gloves to sprinkle them onto fries, imagine what those other gloves have touched in the chaos. Once in awhile, I saw the seasoning in a shaker being used * Other people who placed online orders had lined up behind us, frequently asked about their orders and got 15 to 30 minute estimates * 3 of the pickle barrels were empty * Some of the staff were working hard to keep everything moving, so their efforts haven't gone unnoticed Seemed like someone in charge should have identified that there was a process issue and should have adjusted to the situation accordingly. One could say they were short staffed, or someone wasn't pulling their slack in their responsibilities, but we as customers don't have all of the information to make that conclusion. Serving food hot to customers should be an improvement in itself, being on time would be pretty good, both would be great!

Our visit was ok, I wasn’t completely impressed that’s why I’m only giving 3 stars. A) I liked the Pickle Bar but I don’t like that it’s out in the open like that for the public to dig into without any protective shield or sneeze guards. I’ve seen people just leave the lids open, in which bugs and heavenknowswhat can get in. B)The soda fountains were missing labels or they were so rubbed off from constant touch that you wouldn’t know what is on tap. During our visit, the only diabetic friendly drink they had was very low on syrup and none of the crew seemed to care to rectify it. C) I ordered The Millionaire expecting a lot more from the wagyu beef of which it claimed to have been made but instead received a tough flavorless patty. I’m very disappointed at their most if not the most burger on the menu at $16.50 - I’ve had way better burgers for less money. D) The original cheese fries were good. The place was busy, I give them that; but I’ve read other reviews of disappointment here to which the owner responded that “staff was busy that day” (I’m paraphrasing) excusing the low quality and lackluster service. If the busy-ness of the staff prevents them from maintaining good quality and is causing for other things about the establishment to suffer then maybe it’s time to take a closer look certain business workflows. I have seen many other businesses that can easily handle the hecticness and still provide great service and a good product. It was nice to try this place just for the sake of having tried it but it was not worth the price nor the drive.

I like the decor of this Twisted Root. Lots of booths, indoor picnic tables, a center bar and a good size outdoor patio. The burgers were ok. I am not entirely sure but I think they changed their beef patties since they reopened. The burger didn't taste as good as I remember but it has been a couple years since I have been to a Twisted Root. I had the All American Burger which was a beef burger, two slices of American cheese and bacon. It was a decent burger but not exciting enough to want to return when I have a burger craving. My wife had the Millionaire burger which was an open face wagyu beef patty, cheese, bacon, onion strings, mushrooms and a very good beefy, au jus sauce that tasted great. This was their most expensive burger but I didn't taste much different between the regular beef and wagyu patty. We had the bacon cheese jalapeno fries and they were very good. They melt cheddar over fresh cut fries and add perfectly cooked bacon bits over them. The ranch served with them had very good flavor. This would be a good place to go out to have drinks on the patio and maybe order food if you are hungry. I don't think I would go back just for the food. They also don't have my favorite burger anymore which was the blue cheese bacon burger. Overall It just doesn't taste as good as when I started going to the Commerce St location in Dallas 10 yrs ago.
