The food here is excellent, and we were loyal customers, spending at least $70 an order on a monthly, and sometimes bi-weekly/ weekly basis.
That all ended on 5/30/2024. We will never patronize this place again.
On 5/23/2024, I went in to pick up an order that had all ready been paid for on the app for an Ohana meal for 4, a mini plate, and an order for spam misubi. Even though we had already paid, by the time I came in for pick up, the spam musubi was sold out. I asked for a refund, and the "duty manager" for that evening said that he could not refund my credit card, but offered another item in exchange or a cash refund for the misubi. I did not understand why my credit card could not be partially refunded, but I took the cash refund, and he paid me the cash out of the register with no refund receipt.
On 5/30/2024 we placed an order for the same dishes and paid by cc on the app. I come in to pick it up, and a trainee is packing the order. I see while he is packing that there is no misubi being packed, and ask him why. He apologizes and says that a woman in line after my order was placed bought out the whole misubi tray, and there is no more. At this point, I am irritated and want a refund back to my credit card. Manager on duty (identifiable only as "Manager 2" on the reciept and wearing no name tag) says that he can not do a refund to the card, and again offers me cash or an alternate item. I took the cash for the misubi, while the trainee finished packing my order and tying off the bags, which prevented me from visually inspecting the order further. I learned on the way home that the trainee packed the wet kalua pork container on the bottom of a single, overpacked bag, which leaks all over my car.
It is only upon returning home that I realize that not only is the order completely wet from the poor packing, but they also didn't pack my mini plate order. So now I'm missing two items we had paid for.
Back in the car, I go, and back to the store (which is now two round trips/ twleve miles of driving). This is when I learn that the duty manager can not make credit card refunds because he "doesn't know how." (These were his words on the phone to his boss, general manager DeShawn Deane in my presence.) He's the guy in charge, and he doesn't know how to do credit card refunds.
I was unwilling to accept $51.95 in cash (on top of the $17.45 I had already accepted in cash). What I wanted at this point was a refund on my credit card.
Mr. Deane told his duty manager to have me call him, then tells me that because he is not on site, he will be happy to reverse my charges the next day when he comes in at 8am.😱😱😱😱😱
I told him that was unacceptable and that if I was leaving without any food, I wanted the full refund for the rest of the order on my card immediately. At that point (and with a few minutes of back and forth), he says he will talk his assistant manager through the refund process over the phone.
Mr. Deane then talked his duty manager through voiding the transaction, and they presented me with a duplicate receipt (#2 and #3) showing an order total of zero. But here's what they didn't do: they didn't actually refund the transaction back on the card. All they did was merely void the order, not reverse the charge they already made on the credit card.
My husband made a complaint on the review section of the app and got a generic response. But it ended up taking a dispute of the charge to the credit card company before this charge was finally removed 5 days later.
I won't even go into the poor attitude of the duty supervisor and the trainee during this experience, other than to say that customers know when they are being mocked.
As I stated before, I will never set foot in this establishment again, no matter how tasty the food. I question why the establishment can't refund credit cards, but that is a problem for the business owner who is paying the transaction fees and still paying them when the customer gets cash back. Doesn't appear to be a sound business...

Read moreThere’s a couple points I’d like to touch on, but I guess I’ll start with something that is technically out of anyone’s control. Parking….I did take note of the fact that there are employees who park in the few, very front spots of the restaurant. So I’m watching the inconvenience of people parking in the back parking lot and walking up the side. It should be the other way around considering a worker is there all day. As I parked in the back, I walk up to the front door to find a manager, I presumed, talking on the phone and standing in front of the door. Meanwhile, they see me and slowly walk away eventually. No sorry, no my bad, nothing. Walk into a sticky floor, sauce covered tables, but I get it. If it’s busy, maybe they didn’t get to it. Ordered and was spoken to like I was dumb and didn’t know how to order food. Not that it bothered me a lot, could be a new team member trying to get a hold of the process. Now from a food standpoint, the Teri steak is definitely the way to go if you catch them at a good time. Rice is good. You can’t mess that up. The Mac is creamy. Their sauce is the star for sure. Also love the Hawaiian sun drink options. As long as they can button up a few points, I’ll be returning for sure. Would really really love to have a regular Hawaiian BBQ spot only 1.5 miles from my house. All the other ones, I need to plan a whole trip...
