Came here two Sundays ago in the mid afternoon as a last second decision and I’m sure glad I did! In the past I drank some of their beers sold in cans that were distributed in the Cleveland Ohio area and yes they were very good.
So to finally come here, a brewery in a very old but well maintained and clean building that was once a mortuary, was a an experience that exceeded my expectations. The place was more on the dark side but just enough light to read stuff and very cozy. The atmosphere was a tiny bit creepy yet cozy and friendly. Great place to hang out with others or by yourself.
The man working the bar was nice, pleasant and very calm. When I came here, they do not accept tips and if you give them tip money they donate it to charity.
I brought a beer flight. The flight paddle was in the shape of a coffin, which was fitting for this place. Work but clean and full of character wood paddle. I like it.
The flight was four beers, and four beers I haven’t tried. All were very good, made well with good flavor and character. The ESB- extra special bitter- was amazing as well as their Brooks Was Here stout.
I will certainly come back the next time I’m in the area. One of the most unique places I’ve been...
Read moreWe stopped here on a Saturday late afternoon for a drink and a bite to eat after touring the reformatory a couple miles away.
We had a flight and a cocktail and sat in the outside seating in the alleyway adjacent to the building. The weather was beautiful.
Of the 4 beers in the flight, I liked the neon squeeze the most. I think I had orange eyes, big spring, and turbity as the other 3…trying to look at my pic and remember. I liked orange eyes the least but they were all pretty good.
We got food from a food truck behind the building. There was some event going on back there so I’m not sure if the food truck is there all the time or not but I thought I did see food on the menu with the beer info.
Staff were friendly. Prices were typical. Other folks here seemed friendly. We parked on the street right out front so no issues with that.
We had...
Read moreAs an owner of a large brewery trail (over 550 spots), my husband and I travel to many craft breweries. The Phoenix Brewing Company is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites on our trail! The atmosphere is warm, friendly, inclusive, and inviting. The beer… to say it’s good is an understatement! They serve many styles, with some flagship brews and also a variety of rotating styles on tap- truly something for everyone. The staff is friendly and make great recommendations if you aren’t sure what you’d like to try first. The history of the building is fascinating- don’t forget to ask them about it. I literally drive 2.5 hours each way from my home to make day trips to attend events there and pick up cans of their new releases. If you are ever in Mansfield, Ohio (or even if you aren’t), make sure you stop by the Phoenix. You most definitely...
