Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Maple Grove

I gave 1 star because of many reasons. #1 the service was very bad. The hostess was loud and difficult to work with. We had a large party to seat - 12. She naturally had to work with Covid-19 rules. Which at this time meant 6 to a table. 6 feet apart. We knew that going in. But the guy that I spoke to the night before said we could use a booth for 6 and they would put a table next to it for 4 and add 2 chairs. She loudly explained that she couldn't and wouldn't do that. I told her that's not was I was told the night before. She continued to argue very loudly. Finally, she got her manager, who also said they couldn't do that. She offered a 4 person table kitty corner to the 6 person booth as well as another 4 person booth adjacent to the 4 person table. So now we were all spread across the restaurant. Our party was OK with that. #2 all 3 tables had something incorrect with their orders. Someone didn't get their onion rings. Some one didn't get honey mustard. And because we had a big party, people didn't come all at once. So one person waited 45 minutes to just get water!!! #3 then there was the bill. OMG!!! This girl (waitress) had to have been new or something to get it so wrong! Because the families were so split up, one person in the party paid for all 3 people in her party, but there were 2 people at another table. This girl charged our table wrong on the bill so much, that she fixed it twice and still couldn't get it right! We ended up leaving without paying for 2 people. Perkins knew this as we were leaving but I think they were glad to see us go! They lost out on $12 plus tip. Good for us, bad for them. Granted, that wasn't alot compared with all of our bills together. Probably the worst debacle I've ever encountered at a restaurant in general. No wonder a lot of Perkins are closing! Horrible!!! Needless to say never going back to that...

This place was horrible and we will never be going back due to the server's rudeness. Unfortunately we didn't get her name because she deserves to be fired. After waiting about 10 minutes we were seated at a group table even though it was just the two of us. This meant they would have seated people we didn't know with us. We asked the hostess if we could move to the booth where the party had just left. She said yes, just let the server know. We sat at the booth with our menus. The server came over looking confused and said there was a line and we couldn't just come in and sit there with a rude insulting tone like the hostess didn't seat us. I don't know where she thought wet got the menus. Strike 1. Then she had the nerve to lie to us and day the hostess was new and didn't know better. Funny because the hostess was the same person that was there the last time we were there months ago. Strike 2. Then she said she had to make sure other people weren't waiting for that booth like we were lying to her and walked away. Strike 3. We left. Went to the hwy 55 location and were asked wether we wanted a booth or table. Were were seated immediately had excellent food and service. Left a good tip. Server was pleasant and courteous and seemed genuinely glad we were there. Made a point to compliment our server to the manager. Do yourself a favor and skip the Hemlock 694 location. I have always loved Perkins because their food is consistently good. My visit there was a celebration of my best friend's move to the area. Our food was fantastic and our outing was made extra special because of our server, Natalie. Best waitress we've ever had! Our meal was made extra special because of Natalie. This Perkins is very fortunate to have her on their staff. Every restaurant would benefit from having someone like Natalie in their employment. We visited on 4th of July holiday weekend and Natalie was fresh and delightful after working two long back to back shifts and now covering for another worker who was unable to show up for work that day. We stopped in the very next day to pick up a banana cream pie. We knew Natalie wouldn't be there but still decided to stay for breakfast. Our food was great and we determined their banana cream pie was the best we have ever had. I just can't say enough good things about this Perkins and our server, Natalie! This location in Maple Grove is further away from another Perkins closer in distance and we will go out of our way to visit this particular Perkins.
