I am not super impressed by this place. My dog went here for a day and he had a great time. He was super tuckered out when I got him home and for that it was awesome.
Some points of concern for me:
First, I asked them how often they take the dogs out to go potty when they are inside. They told me usually around lunch time. I told them my dog goes out about every 60-90 minutes to avoid accidents. She told me they usually end up going in the indoor play area and they just clean it up. I asked if that would impact potty training because our dog is pretty well potty trained and doesn't have accidents anymore. She said "we've never heard any complaints." I should have taken him back home at this point, but I was trying to give them a chance. Well...I was watching on the webcam at work and I saw my baby sitting by the door waiting to go potty for 30 minutes and no one took him out. He didn't want to potty on the floor (like any potty trained pooch wouldn't) so he held it until he couldn't any longer. Thankfully they played outside in the afternoon that day.
Secondly, while watching the webcam, I saw several instances of dogs humping other dogs and the staff did not intervene. Twice I saw dogs turn around and snap at the dog that was humping. And I saw this while watching for about 2 hours total the whole day. I'm amazed they don't have more dog fights...or maybe they do have a lot of fights and just don't advertise that. Along that same line, I saw several instances of dogs pinning other dogs to the ground for extended periods of time with no staff intervention. Now, some dog owners may be ok with letting them "figure it out," but I believe dogs should play nice particularly in an environment where there are so many dogs with so many different personalities. What is the purpose of the staff if they are not going to intervene on inappropriate behavior in the play area? The staff at this facility does not seem trained in dog behavior and they often just walked around to clean up accidents on the floor. Some of them did give my puppy a lot of affection though and I appreciated that.
Thirdly, with what I saw on the webcams inside the play area for the first 4 hours my dog was there, I'm a little concerned that they don't have webcam footage in the outdoor space. Who knows what went on in the afternoon, but I guess I should be thankful my dog was able to go potty when he needed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve never written a review about any single establishment in my life. Before I begin, let me make this clear that I am not blaming this business for what occurred, this is my way of seeking answers or guidance, to see if someone else has had a similar experience. I am looking for anything that may help myself and my fur baby, as I am desperate. My dog is my absolute best friend, my soul mate, he is my everything. Iāve never boarded him anywhere before, I went out of town last minute and I boarded him at Adogo Maple Grove. Prior to this he was in great health, he ran like a grey hound, with only some mild allergies that were ever of any concern. Suddenly, on the day I was returning home from my week long vacation, I had one of the most painful phone calls of my life. My precious dog had become paralyzed from the waist down. I spoke with the emergency vet who said if she performed emergency surgery on his spinal cord to remove fluids, etc. would give him a 50 percent chance of ever walking again. 10 days post op, we still have no feeling in his rear legs. I am trying to remain hopeful but it feels close to impossible. The vet believes itās most likely IVDD, which I donāt disbelieve but I do feel like there is more to it. Iāve requested video footage from Adogo from the duration of his stay, they claim the footage doesnāt record and is only live streamed, which very well could be true. Although, I just cannot wrap my head around any of this. I am so heart broken, I donāt know where to begin as I just cannot gather any of my thoughts, naturally. Something like IVDD can be very random and sudden but usually there is an incident leading up to it and itās usually common among certain breeds that are predisposed this disease(my dog does not fall in this category). So for me I am beyond shocked, hurt, lost, confused, and here I am wondering if spending 8,000 dollars I donāt have, on a surgery that may not even potentially work, is worth it. I am at my wits end. Iāve spoken with several members of their staff, the owner himself, and multiple vets to get their opinions. To my dismay, no solid answer prevails. Please, if any of you have any advice or experience with this or something similar, I am all ears. Thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am very upset with the level of service received from Adogo April of 2016. My husbands father died suddenly and we had to get on a plane to Florida that day so we had to bring our Goldendoodle to stay with them for 2 weeks. We had just gotten her groomed 2 weeks prior and she was in perfect health and looked great. The morning of the day we flew home i received a call from Adogo telling me that she had a cut between the pads on her feet and was bleeding and asked me if I wanted them to wrap it up and put some ointment on it. I said of course! I don't even understand why that would be a question in anybody's mind! Obviously I didn't want her to get an infection. The entire day I did nothing but worry about my pup, our flight didn't get in until late that night so I picked her up the next morning. She had a bandage on her foot and seemed so frail when they brought her out, I could see her rib bones which most definitely were not visible when I dropped her off.
As soon as I left Adogo I called our vet and they were able to squeeze her in that afternoon, I brought her in and the vet told me that the cut between her paws should have required stitches had she been brought in right when this happened! But it's too late and has had a chance to heal on its own enough. So that means the cut had happened days prior to them even calling me to tell me! Not okay at all.
I was honestly too upset to even call Adogo to tell them, I just know I will never trust them with my dog again! Oh and when they weighed her at the vet, she had lost over 10 pounds in those two weeks.
I had brought her to Adogo in Minnetonka and Maple Grove prior to these instances, didn't have any issues like this until recently but she always did smell heavily of urine every time we picked her up which always made me wonder if they just locked her alone in a cage all day and she was bathing in her own urine.
Probably shouldn't bring your dog there...
