DO NOT PURCHASE IN-EARS FROM GC (Read the return policy and compare it to the MANUFACTURER, directly!)
I really want to like Guitar Center, but they just don't care about making things right with the customer. Purchased Shure SE425 in-ear monitors from Guitar Center. First of all, when I went to make the purchase in-store, the sales associate had me wait for around 30 minutes before ringing me up - as he was helping someone else, and wanted to get the commission from me (rather than doing the right thing and lining me up with another available associate). Then, after waiting for 30 minutes I was informed that there was only ONE pair of in-ears remaining in stock, and was told they would have to ship one to me. I waited for another 25 minutes while the associate clicked a bunch of buttons on the computer system - and then I was given a receipt for this purchase/order. At the time, we were unsure of whether the pair of in-ears would be used, as our guitarist may already have a pair. I asked if they are returnable, which the sales rep answered "yes". I trusted his input/advice on this, which burnt me in the long run.
A week later, I was notified of the delivery. I did not see the package anywhere outside of my front or back doors. It turns out, the item was shipped to the store even though I'd let the associate know that they must be shipped to my house. I spent two hours just messing around with this, and getting over to the store..
Now - today, February 2nd, I've returned to the Maple Grove Guitar Center store to initiate a return, as these in-ears were purchased for our guitarist who has since been fired from the band. The in-ears were opened (factory packaging was unsealed), and configured (we swapped out the ear-tips), and then we set them aside. They have not been used, nor have they been plugged in. The guitarist has not even seen the in-ears in person. I went back to the store to return them and was told that they'd be able to do this, if I was OK with being charged a 10% restocking/repackaging fee - which I had agreed to. The store manager attempted to process the return, but had informed me that "it's grayed out on the computer/the computer won't let me process the return". I asked him what my next best step will be to get the money back for the in-ears, and he had told me that I need to call Guitar Center customer service. I stepped outside of the store and made the call, and after explaining the situation I was transferred. I explained the situation again, and was transferred one final time - I explained the situation once more and the support agent had let me know that the return is simply not possible regardless of the condition, and told me that my best bet would be to LIST THEM ON EBAY OR FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE. This prompted me to look up the Shure return policy, which clearly states that they will return ANY item for ALMOST ANY REASON. I explained this to the support agent at Shure customer service, and he informed me that this only applies to In-ears that are purchased DIRECTLY THROUGH SHURE, and told me that I needed to work with Guitar Center to process the return.
Guitar Center has the ability to return my item but refuses to do so. I understand that the manager has little he can do to make the computer system work - and this is not his fault. I understand that Shure cannot process my return, as I did not even purchase them through Shure. Guitar Center should be doing something to make the situation right, but refuses to do so. There is absolutely no point in purchasing items such as an IEMS / In-Ear Monitoring System from Guitar Center, as it's the same price as the manufacturer sells it for - and the return policy is far lesser through Guitar Center than it is through Shure. There is absolutely NO logical reason to purchase these kinds of items from Guitar Center whatsoever, as there are...
Read moreMaple grove mn guitar center i walked in to buy a used cymbal today.not very expensive but the price was 139.00 I knew I wanted the cymbal and asked the sales person if I could get alittel help with the price.i had a 15% coupon on my email and he said I could not use it.this has happened to me many times at this store if the sales person would have just asked the manager I think if the manager could even give a discount eating the tax I would have felt like they tryed to help with my sale.because they don't even try at this store many times I walk out not buying anything and go to one of three other Minnesota guitar center stores and make good deals with sales staff and managers and buy happy I've played drums 52 years and when I spend a average of 3000 to 4000 per year on equipment somtimes more.and maple grove MN store might get 250 of that money if I need something fast.other wise I take my buying power to oakdale or roseville or Bloomington and them stores are 25 to 39 miles from my house maple grove store is 12 miles I go the extra miles just because the other stores help me find coupons find equipment that will last and give me help as fast as they can and take plenty of time with me all the way through.im very disappointed with maple grove MN guitar center.update on 4/21/20 I just wanted to say I have decided to try maple grove guitar center as of 12/2019 it was a much better experience and bought one of there close out kits and other new skins and sticks and I'll probably get more from them as of 4/2020 some faces have changed and they try to do what they can I'm finding out because of the company's new rules its been harder for the employees to give good discounts most the time because of changes so I'm still going to try to buy and hope for some better coupons and price comparison options thank you maple...
Read moreI don't usually do reviews, but because I was so fed up, I felt I needed to. My husband and I went to this store location just recently. We went once on a Sunday around the evening time. We were determined to get keyboard for a friend for Christmas and as we entered the store, not a single worker acknowledged us. There was 3 male workers, all walking around holding electric guitars and 'cleaning' them and one kept going into a backroom thru a hallway. Since it was 2 hours before closing time, after waiting for 30 minutes, we assumed they were all 'too busy' trying to get inventory done so we left home. The next morning, we went again and still, no one asked if we needed any assistance or acknowledged that we were customers. We went to the keyboard section where a young woman worker was helping another customer. We spoke loudly in hoping she would tell another coworker to come help her because we were short on time. The woman worker did not bother to say anything such as "Hi, I will be right with you after I help this customer". She just walked past us like we were unwanted customers as if she hated her job. Another worker just kept walking around with a pen and notebook, writing down tags prices or whatever. My husband approached him in hoping he can ask for help but the worker walked into a backroom, yet again. We waited for 20 minutes without anyone asking or even bothering to say anything. We left with no piano, once again. I will never go to this guitar center, ever again. I felt like I was less than a...
