Restaurants should be able to give accurate wait times for food to be ready, and that includes email notifications. If we place an order for pick-up, and are told our order will be ready at a specific time, there is absolutely no reason it should take 40 minutes longer than that time. We could've waited at home before coming out to pick this up.
The order in question had a pastry that was in stock when ordered, but ran out before they fulfilled our order. Rather than notify us of this shortage, they made us wait 40 minutes longer AFTER ARRIVING to pick up our food, without telling us the cause. I had to call in 3 times to get anyone to answer me as to why we were still waiting.
People were showing up and leaving with their orders in minutes while we waited. And not a single person working there cared enough to tell us WHY we were waiting. They acted affronted when we were curious about our wait time, which is really upsetting. If someone had simply told us that there was a pastry out, we could've said skip it and moved on with our lives. I'd much rather miss out on part of our food than be ignored and talked down to. Even with that entire ordeal, they STILL sent us home without the second pastry we ordered, not even the one that was supposed to be in the oven. We just wanted a...
Read moreBe prepared to wait. Placed a to-go order online which said it would take 30-35 minutes. It took a solid hour. Directions are unclear on where to pick up, the receipt says to go to the pickup window or the “carry-out” table. They don’t seem to use the window, and I had to ask where the table was (it’s behind the coffee bar and you have to interrupt the barman to tell them you got a message saying your food is ready). Waiting aside, the food was good, got the veggie pesto sandwich (with tax and tip around $17, no drink). I did get a latte there about an hour earlier, pretty good (with tax and tip around $7).
Others in my party also had long waits, orders placed together came out at staggeringly different times (like twenty minutes, and the sad sandwich that came out was NOT worth the wait), parts of their order missing, or after a half an hour of waiting told they were out of what they ordered.
In short, food pretty good but expensive, service was friendly for the most part, but very slow. Probably a staffing issue. Would not recommend going on a Sunday mid-morning. Would probably be great on a quiet morning...
Read moreThe Living Room is a place where I don't visit that often but whenever I do it's always a pleasant experience. Tucked away in Maplewood, The Living Room provides a wonderful spot to work, eat and get a wonderful cup of coffee. While you wait you could grab a book or knit which is one of my favorite things to do. Service is also on point and it is always nice striking up a conversation with those that work there. A A couple of highlights of the food I've experienced:
Coffee: the Latte Maria is amazing. The flavors of orange and cinnamon really pull through Food: the homemade bagels with homemade cream cheese and the parfaits is delicious. Getting honey with the parfait adds the nice added touch if you like sweetness.
Lastly, the one thing that I really enjoy about the Living Room is the sign that is by the store that says "All are Welcome". I've noticed that some employees there have disabilities and it really warms my heart as someone who has a sibling with a disability knowing that there are places willing to give everyone the chance to work. Thank you for...
