The good: Its clean, the plates are clean, the owner is super nice when you come in, wait staff does a pretty good job, def not crowded, not overpriced, and decent selection of items for as small as the buffet is.
The bad: Its hot inside, and the steam trays are too low resulting in lukewarm food at best. Seems she's trying to make the food last longer by keeping the ambient temp up high and the steam tray temp low.
The food would actually be pretty good IF it wasn't so terribly bland. NOTHING has any real flavor. The ingredients are good but its missing all the flavor that comes from Chinese sauces and spices. Edible but not tasty.
WORST SUSHI OF ANY BUFFFET IN TOWN. There are only like 5 options, and its all just crabstick. No raw sushi at all, except 1 item had snapper on top, but with the high temps and low turnover you're just asking for death by eating raw fish thats 2.5" above the ice in a place that has a temp of about 80 degs. The owner stirs the dishes constantly to keep them from drying out, and she stared at me from like 5 feet away everytime I went to the bar. Kinda creepy tbh. Quite a turnoff.
Also, they have signs posted everywhere saying that if you waste food you'll be charged like $10/lb for your waste. If I don't like what you offer after trying it I'm not going to eat it, but I ate several things that I would not have otherwise because I was scared I'd end up with a $30 buffet tab if I didnt.
I like the offerings well enough (except for the sushi which is the main reason I go to a Chinese buffet) and the service is decent, but the terrible sushi selection combined with the fact that nothing has any flavor (just bland meat and veg) amd the fear of being overcharged for "waste" means I will pay $1.50 more to go to their competitor down the street. Shame, this place could be really good but they're just falling short on a few key metrics, which I'm sure is why they're dead while other buffets are slammed. Try it out, and then go to the better place like everyone else is...
Read moreHorrible experience! We were not greeted upon entering for starters. When we requested a bigger table the manager rolled his eyes, looked at his watch and contemplated(half the tables were empty) before agreeing to seat us at a bigger table. Time for the food. I dont even need a full hand to count how many dishes were fresh, and the salad wasn't one of them. Two dishes! And they were not tasty at all! We couldnt even finish our first dish! The egg rolls and spring rolls were old and dry, the pot stickers were double fried, sour, and rotten, mushy lo mein, the list goes on! So guys, if you happen to come across a salad doused in ranch at a buffet expect that it's very dated... and so is the rest of the food. We were all disgusted to say the least! I have to say I'm very disappointed in this place! U like buffet on oracle was nothing like this place! Atleast there they made sure we had fresh dishes if we let them know it was not good, and we always felt welcome there, AND it was always clean! We had to resort to an alternative restaurant (panda express) which welcomed us with open arms, and was a huge improvement over this place! I cannot believe they closed down U Like Buffet and kept this one open! Most expensive water I've paid for this far! Atleast the demon slayer gave us 4 dollars off for hating his food! I'm surprised at how many great reviews this place received just weeks before I tried it! Zero stars, please? I know one thing for sure; I will never come back here again!
One more thing to the owners! Be considerate of your customers because they are the ones that are keeping your doors open, especially at a time like this!
Alright folks, that's all I got to say! Stay safe and make wise...
Read moreIf you read the other reviews on the New Town Buffet, you will be just as confused as I was. My mom and I were looking for a good place for Chinese and she happened upon the New Town Buffet listed in a Google search. As you read through the other reviews we couldn't help laughing at the complete opposing experiences of many of the customers. Deciding to make our own decision, we headed over and arrived just before 3 pm, tea time according to their prices. The food was plentiful and while not piping hot, it was still hot. They had a variety of choices and I was able to find something I really enjoyed. The garlic green beans were especially good. I was happy to see that they had hot and sour soup and I really enjoyed it. They had a good selection of sushi and it was fresh and tasty. The highlight of our visit was the Mongolian Grill. They had lots of ingredient choices including several different types of meat. I also appreciated that they had extra chopped garlic out in case, like me, you really enjoy a lot of garlic in your food. It was cooked to perfection and even though I was full at that point, I finished my plate. It was amazing. Unlike other visitors, we did not feel like anyone was rushing us out. In fact, we realized that we had been there for over an hour and a half and our check never been handed to us. Our server kept fresh drinks on our table and quickly removed used plates. If you're looking for a good regular Chinese food experience, this will fit the bill. If you truly enjoy Mongolian Grill, you will be very pleased. Try going between 1 and 3 p.m. as we discovered that was the best time with the fewest...
