MOD Pizza — Restaurant in Marana

This was our first time here. First time trying Mod pizza. And not sure we’ll be back. Service was the slowest I think I’ve ever experienced in a place like this. Stood in line for 20 mins before we even could order our pizzas. There was a total of 3 people ahead of us when we walked in. Once it was finally our turn the kid making the pizzas was friendly and had great customer service. No complaints where he is concerned. Although he was extremely slow and the only one working that part of the line….hence the 20 min wait. Then we waited another 20 mins for them to call our name that one of our pizzas was ready. Bigger kid working behind the counter wearing a knitted pumpkin hat told my husband he’d have our other pizza up in a few mins. My husband looked down and saw his pizza sitting there, cooked and appeared ready as well. So my husband, thinking maybe the kid got mixed up or confused, pointed to the pizza and said “isn’t that our other one?” And the kid looked at him like he was an idiot and in a very annoyed tone said “I’ll have your pizza up in a few minutes.” So my husband brought over the one pizza and went back up to the counter to wait for his. After a good 4+ mins of standing there watching the same kid tinker around and going back and forth behind the counter, the kid grabbed the same pizza my husband pointed at that he thought was his and he put it up on the counter and called his name. The pizza was barely warm by this point. I have absolutely no idea what all that was about but from the time we walked in the door to the time we got both pizzas (one chees, one with 3 meats) was 46 mins. A little excessive in my opinion. Especially since they were not very busy. That type of wait for pizza with a hungry toddler isn’t so fun for parents. The pizza was good. My son and I enjoyed our cheese pizza. Not only are the employees incredibly friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and VERY hardworking, this is truly the VERY BEST pizza I have ever eaten! They have a gluten-friendly crust as an option that is so delicious, I am incredibly impressed with all of the freshest and tasty vegetables, meats, cheeses, sauces and spices! You can have your pizza EXACTLY how you like it, with any AND all of the 30+ choices on your pizza for the SAME great price! They also add new choices every week so, I will always be excited by the prospect of a new combination of awesome flavors and the fun of creating new pizza combos each time I go there. This month they have had cute little squares of baked sweet potatoes, something u would never have thought of myself to add to a pizza but now I know it is a fantastic new taste sensation that I hope they will keep on their regular rotation! My very favorite store is the one in Marana on Thorny dale at One Road. Best of all, the employees are unbelievably memorable! I recommend that you ask for Brendan to build your dream pizza, one you will NEVER forget, and Connor will go out of his way to make SURE that your special pizza is cooked to perfection, just how you like it!! The ONLY place I will ever go for pizza now...

Our group of 60+ yr old people, went to MOD Pizza.  The food was ok, but I would not go back.  R&R Pizza up by I-10 exit 236 is much better. To order, you need to stand in line like at Subway, then pay. They take your name to shout it out, for you to come fetch your food. We had 10 people at our table around the corner from where the ovens were. It was hard to hear the names being shouted out. They said they were too short staffed to bring the food to the table.

The prices were pretty steep for the portions given. I had a Pocket Pie Sandwich that didn't compare at all to the Calzones at R&R Pizza! And they charged about the same price. The Pocket Pie was pizza dough wrapped around a few ingredients. Kinda like a Calzone, but not sealed. And much smaller. They only use a 6" pie dough. The soda price was over $3 for a fountain drink too. I had water.

They offered a tip option when you paid for your food before sitting down! I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay extra if I have to do all the work to get my food myself. And clear the table too. A tip is earned.
