Barro's Pizza — Restaurant in Maricopa

Review #2 (May 2024) Barro’s is trending downward compared to all of our previous visits. We placed an internet order for a large Barro’s Special and 24 Traditional wings as carryout. In the past, I would select no green peppers for the pizza and add black olives. There never used to be an additional charge for this, but now they are charging $1.75 more, with or without the green peppers, so I got the green peppers since we’re paying for them regardless. The $1.75 is a steep upcharge for ten cents worth of black olives (please see the picture). On top of that, there was supposed to be a coupon which was not reflected in the total when I paid (online). The total was $54.24. The website showed that our food would be ready in 45 minutes. I arrived in 40 minutes and the guy who helped me at the register told me, without me asking, that a coupon was supposed to be applied to our order but wasn’t so a $4.00 refund would be applied to my credit card in 3 or 4 days. He walked back to the kitchen and retrieved our pizza and wings. I drove home with our food and much to our surprise, the wings were lukewarm at best. The pizza with the upcharged black olives was good, but not hot and fresh like it normally is. Clearly, the 45 minutes we were told it would take to prepare our food was a lot longer than it really took and they neglected to put it in a warmer while it was waiting. The food was tasty even if it wasn’t hot, therefore not really fresh. The positives of this visit was the guy who served our food; he did his job well. Another positive is that the most of the wings were big. That’s becoming less-common these days as many restaurants wings are small. The negatives were the upcharge for black olives that didn’t used to exist, the food not being hot, and they charge $28.99 for 24 wings and charge extra for a twig of celery (we did not get suckered by this, so we had no celery). Also, it really bugs me that they ask for a tip, both when customers place the order and also when they sign the receipt. The employees are not doing the work of waiters/waitresses who depend on tips because the restaurant is paying them far below minimum wage. That’s not the case here, but it doesn’t stop them from asking. Pay more and get less, that’s Barro’s today.

Review #1 (September 2023) Barro's Pizza has always been consistently good in our experience. We ordered a large Barro's Special and 24 medium wings. The order was take out, and we did not order beverages. We had a 25% off coupon and the total was $39.33 ($51.49 without the coupon). The food was hot and delicious, but they did not provide any celery with the wings. I don't know if that was a oversight, or if they will only provide celery twigs for an up-charge now. While dining at Barro's is not cheap, the food is good and service has always been friendly,...

Best pizza in Maricopa hands down! Actually everything I have eaten at Barro's has been awesome!

The Sicilian salad is huge, with fresh & crispy veggies, ham, shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and I think salami, is a meal in itself. It can easily be shared. I have ordered it 4 times and it has always been great. The previous time I got one I could only eat half of my half that I shared with someone so I saved the rest for later. I put it in a tupperware and put it in the fridge to eat the following day. It was still fresh and tasted as good as the day before. I get my salad with the Cesar dressing, it is delicious. It has a great vinegar tang but not overwhelming and also has some parmesan cheese mixed in it. They give you two containers on the side so you can add as little or as much as you would like.

The quality of their cheese gives their pizza an awesome texture, something that is missing from many pizza places. The crust is great and baked perfectly.

The meatball sub is fantastic! It is hard to get a "good" meatball at most restaurants, they usually end up tasting processed and of low quality meat. Barro's meatball tastes homemade; it has good texture and great flavor. You can also get it as a pizza topping which is another uncommon topping at most pizza places and even if they do have it, it ends up being a serious let down. I have ordered a meatball pizza 3 times now and every time it has been delicious. I have ordered a meatball sub twice and they even added black olives at my request and the sub was awesome each time.

I ordered a pepperoni pizza three times and it also was fantastic. High quality pepperoni and plenty of it; not to much so you have to much grease but not so little that your lucky to get any in a bite.

I have saved my left over pizza every time and munched on a piece here and there for a day or two after and it still tasted great. A lot of pizza tastes "ok" as leftovers but barro's seemed to hold up better than most others, so definitely don't be afraid to save some for later!

There is another place in town, something brother's that I ordered by mistake once and it was beyond horrid. I don't usually like to give places a bad wrap but I literally could not even swallow a bite of the other place's pizza. It had maybe a tablespoon of sauce on the entire large pizza, the cheese was all slid over to one side and it was soaked in grease. By far the worst pizza I have ever eaten. In my opinion, you will not have an experience like that at Barro's.

I have also had Barro's deliver twice now and each time the food arrived within the 45 min to an hour that they told me to expect. It arrived Hot and fresh both times. The driver was very courteous, he had a smile, a polite greeting, and he gave a...

Buy your own celery... They don't even give you a substitution,(carrots) and dont even tell you! But they charge you for it... 😏 and if I have to make a 3rd review, its because I dont learn, lol... 🤦🏽‍♀️here we go...

2nd review: We ordered online and same results as previously(see pics attached in 2nd review) they still stuffed 24 traditional wings in a box meant for 12 today!!! In which, I did call today to see whats going on with these orders and how they'll remedy it... Manager said, how can we make it better for you... idk, you tell me, because the last time we ordered, nothing changed... he said, we will make a note on your account to make "sure, sure" you get your celery and presentation is pretty on your next visit... 🤥 like this wasn't the 3rd-4th time already... okay ..sure... 🙄... if that's the best y'all could do, then maybe it's not for us...atleast for this location..😔

1st review: Its a hit or miss with this location... and today was a miss, pizza was great, but why did you stuff a 24 traditional wings in a box meant for 12..🤔 ... I mean you couldve put them in 2 boxes 🤷🏽‍♀️...and it took away from the wing sauce, making it drier and messy, couldnt even try to turn it to get coating on because sauce spilled under the foil and soaked into box itself..🤦🏽‍♀️.... and for the price of the wings, we still ate it tho, lol... And yall forgot the celery!! 😩 However, the 12s we ordered in the other pic were great, the sauce was definitely saucing 🤌🏽! The Italian & club sanchwich with salads were pretty good, gotta have that ranch tho! The ranch is like the best part of barros, don't ever...
