Back Yard Burgers — Restaurant in Marion

We were drawn to this place because of the name. It certainly lived up to that advertisement. If you desire that succulent flavor of meaty goodness seared to perfection on an outdoor grill, then you've reached the right place. I have only a couple of burger joints that satisfy my tastes, but I can add one more now. I will look for these wherever I go in the future. In your backyard, you don't normally get fries, or waffle fries for that matter, but I am willing to forgive the establishment for not having chips. Also, you don't get a shake in your backyard, but the chocolate oreo shake was heavenly. The only drawback about it was the diameter of the straw. If you leave it sit for 30 minutes, you won't collapse the straw while trying to suck the creamy goodness through the straw provided. Always look forward to stopping by on my way up north but this last time was honestly.. awful ! I hate having to write this because I 'used' to be able to always count on getting some delicious burgers... This last visit might very well be my last. The beef paties tasted like they'd been in a deep freezer for years and warmed up in a microwave. Just bad. They also either completely changed their recipes or idk what tbh because I ordered a pickle burger and A1 steak burger and there wasn't a drop of A1 on the burger, they had actually used very sweet BBQ sauce..?? Instead... on not just the A1 burger but the pickle burger as well.. Was inedible, dogs had a nice snack ( I hope 🤞🏻) though.

Dang guys I understand what's going on in the world right now but thinking you could get away with sweet BBQ instead of A1?! That's just silly. Oh not to mention the prices have not gotten any cheaper so where's the overhead going? Not into A1 steak...

Used to work here probably 15, 20 years ago the owner still is there and has not changed. Ram Manchikanti the owner is the embodiment of an owner and a leader. Always taking orders, dropping fries, taking food out so it's hot, making burgers, giving a smile, and still recognizes me from forever ago. Professional, sweet, caring guy that leads from the front, not from the back. He alone is reason enough to go to this establishment. Other than Ram, burgers are hands down the best, no questions asked. Fresh veggies, the most delectable juicy chicken, soft pillowy buns that hold up. Seasoned fries are always piping hot and crunchy, clean establishment. Would give 20 stars if I was able to. Anytime I am out of south carolina, and close to marion il and this establishment, I promise to be back.
