I’m a frequent flyer, I love this place. It’s my favorite brewery in Michigan(would be my favorite of all time but I’m from Wisconsin and happen to love New Glarus😉). But unfortunately, I did have an experience with one of the beertenders when I went in to buy some of the awesome merch and ask a question. He had brown hair and glasses, didn’t catch his name. I got one-word answers from him and generally his demeanor was snobby and unwelcoming, like he didn’t want to be there and didn’t want anyone else to be either. During the time it took for him to ring me up, someone asked for a sample of beer and he basically refused them, saying they weren’t going to like it. Didn’t offer alternatives, barely even looked the man in the eye and had his back turned to him. He was dismissive with everybody from the few minutes I was there and had a huge superiority complex. I surfed through the reviews a bit and I’d be willing to bet that the negative reviews for the beertenders were mostly if not all about him. You’d think he’d be a bit more humble considering he can’t even manage to get a decent head on the saison I ordered or the light beer my boyfriend ordered when we were there a different time(they were nonexistent). Could easily be that the glasses weren’t beer clean, but that’s also his job to ensure they are. Listen, I work in the service industry myself and I understand interacting with people can be exhausting. But that’s no reason to be dismissive and supercilious to people who don’t deserve it. I understand that people have bad days, and he was probably having one, but that’s when you plaster on a fake smile and the good ole customer service voice instead of making your bad day everyone else’s problem. Again, I absolutely love this brewery but he really ruined the experience for me, unfortunately to the point where if I see him working I’ll just turn around and walk out. That’s the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars like you guys deserve so...
Read moreComing from the lower peninsula to Marquette was a trek, but we love the outdoors and a cool brewery. It was our first time here and I was excited to try the Ore Dock brews and thought it was so nice they allowed dogs too. We saw a food truck parked in front of the brewery and thought that's awesome, we're hungry so we'll grab a beer, grub and sit down at a table. We bought our beers & a koozie, everything was fine, went to the food truck (with beers in hand, again this was our first time here) and as were ordering the bartender comes out and says very sternly, "as much as I'd like to drink on the street, you're not allowed to drink on the street" and walked away before I started to apologize and say it was our first time here. We were on the side walk with the brewery tables inches away so it didn't occur to us that it would be an issue. I was taken a back by how rude he was. Even one of the customers next to us was dumbstruck and said "well that was bad table manners on his part." I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or jaded by other customers, but it soured the experience at this brewery and we left as soon as we were done with our drinks. A simple, "hey, not sure if you guys know.." and there weren't any signs. Simple respect and kindness...
Read moreWe went there on a pilgrimage this weekend to see the place that's caught our eye (and taste buds while traversing the UP ). Completely worth the drive and almost worth moving for 😉. Really loved the location, beautiful big building! The beer selection delivered in styles and flavors. Really enjoyed Breakwater too, their hard seltzer : one in blackberry onea in cherry. The beer flight really tempted me in so many other directions. Got some great swag to rep when we are south of the bridge. there is the Burger Bus that frequents for food. We didn't get the chance to try it this time because we had already gone for dinner elsewhere. Lots of great restaurants in the area. Really enjoyed hanging out at this Brewery. I know if I lived in Marquette, I would be a regular here! Reclamation is a very sessionable beer. I really like Berzerker, but I like ipas. Free popcorn is very thoughtful! Everyone working was very friendly and helpful. The UP it's lucky to have them! If you go here, you're among the best up there!
