Slice of Martinez Pizza and Cheesesteaks — Restaurant in Martinez

As I take my last bite, and now just sit here thinking of my experience of this place is very sub par. I ordered a Philly cheese steak with fries and a diet coke at 11:59AM and didn't receive my food until 12:42PM. Looks like the place is a bit under staffed, no one has a official uniform, so not easy to identify who is who. Seems like the place has 2 cooks, 1 server, and 1 prepper of the food. If you're willing to wait for your food, and you're not in a hurry than this might be the place for you. The pizza looks really good, but unfortunately didn't order that.

What I did order was very underwhelming. Starting off with the philly cheese steak. Not a lot flavor, the bun was cold, the meat and cheese was warm enough but not a lot of flavor. It was a decent philly. Definitely wouldn't order again though. Then there's the fries. The fries were the worst ting about this place. Really bland, without any crisp or flavor. I ordered regular fries, so nothing special, but Burger King probably has better fries. Last but not least the soda. The soda was probably the best thing I had. Was a regular diet coke that was good. The only problem is they give you the drink FIRST. Now remember the wait time that it took for my food to arrive. By that time you can finish your drink, can get water down, or just goes flat. To make matters worse NO FREE REFILLS. 1 SODA is $3.00 before tax, so for the establishment not to offer free refills, or at least give you your drink once your food arrives.

Overall my experience here for the first time wasn't great. Buuuuut I would be back for the pizza, that actually looks very flavorer. The staff seems nice, but whoever the owner is I recommend maybe 1 more person...

We went here on 4th of July I saw a Cheesesteak and I was super excited my girlfriend and her sister ordered some pizza the pizza was okay seemed a bit doughy I don't think it was fully cooked but that Philly cheese steak sandwich was the absolute biggest disgrace of a Philly cheese steak sandwich they really need to take that name off they just need to make it crappy deli meat sandwich the cheese was just bad I don't know how to explain it but I'll tell you what I get it better experience from those fake Philly cheese steak sandwiches you get at Costco in the frozen food section and they're not costing me 13 bucks a piece like this and on top of that my girl decided to pay that nice and her sister was in town and tried to pretend to like it and that was about the most difficult thing I've done in a good while and as far as the atmosphere it's downtown Martinez who cares with the inside of the place looks like you're downtown Martinez it's cool atmosphere but the food if you have an out of town friend don't take them here...

This place is highly exemplary and a truly fantastic locally owned establishment. Leigh the owner and her staff go above and beyond satisfying patrons, especially if your tabs are huge. I placed an order for ten pizzas to deliver to a local homeless encampment. Not only was it made well ahead of schedule but Leigh threw in pasta salads free of charge. Excellent service! Mom and I also had a pizza cheese steak that is nothing short of savory....just mouthwatering and fulling!

It's clear Leigh & her team take pride on their work...food is delicious & their affable demeanors are the pepperoni on top! Please support your neighborly restaurants but most importantly Slice of Italeigh, given Leigh pitching in as well to aid the hungry/needy. I was not expecting her to provide the pasta salads but it's clear, based off that magnanimous gesture, she's truly community/civic minded.

I'm also glad they are nearby in case I've got a pizza or cheese...
