By far the worst and most expensive haircut of my life. And to add insult to injury, I feel that the "master stylist" was dishonest by curling my hair at the end to hide my botched hair. I didn't ask for styling and I let her know I just let my hair air dry, so it was confusing when she brought out the curling iron.
I've been growing my hair out for years. She took off 2-3 inches in overall length which ia fine yard yard i asked for, but since I asked for layers, the shortest layer is now at my shoulders. It's choppy all over and uneven. Even in a pony tail there's a bunch or shorter and longer strands that refuse to blend in. Now to get it fixed I'll likely need to get 4-5 inches of overall length cut off. Not even the bangs I asked for are even. I called and emailed pictures of my hair, I was polite and patient, but when I asked what they could do. They said don't worry, the same "master stylist" will cut your hair again for free. Why would I want that?? I lost my time, my money, and worst of all years of healthy hair growth.
It's nice inside, it's clearly upscale, so I hoped I'd get what I was paying for. NOPE! Horrendous. I have no idea what happened here because the reviews and pictures they post are good, but when I tell you I am embarrassed to leave my house without my hair in a bun or at least a headband, that's how you know it's bad. I'm not a vain person, but I feel like the dog that got shaved by the new groomer, shaking in its kennel with a stupid little bow attached to it as a consolation prize.
It stings to give yourself over to an expert, trust them, chat with them, let them get to know you, and then get this in return.
Edit: After a few back and forth emails, Citrus let me know that curls and waves at the end of an appointment are complimentary, but that they will now discuss how a client would like their hair styled during the consultation to avoid a misunderstanding like this in the future. Also, I should add that they very much tried to reschedule me with anyone of their stylists to fix my hair and that if it's beyond repair they might refund me, but that they've never had to do so. I work in Martinez about a 12 minute drive away I left at 2:45 to ensure that I make it their on time, although traffic was a bit heavy i made it by 3:05 pm. Maybe I should have mentioned that I was on a lunch break although I did anticipate to be somewhat late, by the time her assistant started the drying process it was 4 p.m...because i have lots of thick hair and i think its common sense to dry the inside roots to cut the drying and styling process in half, but am not the professional right? So now 4:10 pm with my hair half wet I say sorry but i don't have the time to dry it. what I actually wanted to say was give me the brush i will do it myself but that would have been rude so instead I asked her to use the paddle brush so that i could get back to my office. other wise at the rate she was going It would have taken at least another half hour, so now instead of having the full service I left feeling like the I was a being a difficult client, mind you now its 4:30 so shame on me for not allowing a two hour window for a cut and blow dry. But the fact remains the stylist Candance said after they finished the drying process she was going add her finishing touches, but I had to ask her if she could check it out and the fact that she had to step away for a client who she was doing a color process just made me feel worst. By the way my hair is long about bra strap length and did I mention i have a lot of hair not coarse but thick. On the price check list it said $50-$60 long hair tell me why I paid $70+ tip and although she is great at what she does I felt I could have went to your super cut and gotten the same service. I have a lot of respect for this salon and the effort they have put into trying to make things right for me. They have moxie and integrity. A lot of salons would have given up a long time ago and told me to go somewhere else without caring how I felt. NOT Citrus Salon....
The salon reached back out to me after this review and I went back in and met with a stylist named Sydney. She asked me to go over what had happened and asked me exactly what I was looking for. She was very open, understanding and easy to talk to and I feel that she genuinely understood me. She told me she did not want to bleach my hair right then as it had already been bleached 3 times before that. So she offered me a full refund and told me she would like to make me an appointment for the future. I took her up on that and made the appointment.
I just went and saw her about 5 days ago and I am so happy with the result. She executed exactly what I wanted perfectly and it was nice to speak with her at the same time. Sydney really seems to understand hair and knows exactly how to get the results a client is looking for. I told her I lowered expectations and that I was just going to accept the result and she laughed. She has a good sense of humor. When she blow dried my hair and I saw the final color and result I was SO blown away, relieved and HAPPY!!
Anyways, I am so impressed by this salon and the people who work there, especially Sydney who absolutely went above and beyond and took a chance that a lot of people would not dare to take because of the possibility of it not working out again. Sydney knew she could fix it and she absolutely did.
Also, No hard feelings to the previous stylists. I hope they understand why I wrote the review and that I do appreciate the efforts and it is nothing personal.
I am so happy that I have found someone to do my hair from now on. So so grateful and 100% satisfied with how this was handled all the way around. Highly recommend. Will post an updated...
