This place has been saved to my map for a hot minute and I was finally able to make a trip with the excuse of hosting a meetup. We ended up having 7 people total! Regardless, I ordered a hot latte (honey or vanilla, can't remember) and a slice of banana bread. $9. Yikes. So I ended up trading my hot for an iced with a friend and it tasted pretty good. After we were there chatting for a bit, I had my friend order me a cashew almond toast. It was so thick. The bread was a lot of chewing action. A lot. The cashew butter was runny but at the same time also thick. It tasted good but we didn't finish it which sucks because that was also expensive. Aesthetically it was a nice place but still came off a little pretentious? I definitely don't want to pay for a tiny coffee and banana bread for $9 again. I could buy an entire loaf and bag of beans for that much tbh. Service as really nice and there were plenty of places to sit. The layout is...
Read moregreat if: you like nutty coffee with a hint of acidity looking for a study/work space looking for an aesthetic cafe with good vibes
This is honestly the cafe I've been looking for in Berkeley for so long -- great coffee, great pastries, great service, great vibes. It is a pretty spacious cafe with lots of tables. I've had an iced americano and an iced latte, both which I loved: bold but not too strong with a subtle hint of acidity. With many orders ahead it may take a bit to get your drink, but it's definitely worth the wait. All baristas I've encountered have been so friendly and sensible. Pastries aren't exceptionally outstanding but are still great - there are various options from scones to almond croissant and vegan donuts. During peak times, it's hard to find seating and wifi slows down a little, but after the rush, you'll probably find yourself staying for a while to enjoy the coffee,...
Read moreMy most favorite coffee place in all of the bay area. I always make a stop here when visiting the in-laws to get a cup. Will also buy the roasted beans or a 6 pack of cold brew if I know it might be some time till the next visit. As for snacks, love their donuts and my wife always gets the oatmeal with yogurt (she also really loves their chai latte).
Maybe I'm not there enough (weekends mostly), but, I don't get the hipster vibe that some reviewers wrote. I see students studying in the quieter room, families and friends hanging out chatting in the main room, and cyclists, families, friends, pets hanging outside. It's one of the reasons I love this place, the friendly, you be you, enjoy now kind of environment. It is this kind of place that is missing in the cities dominated by the big name coffee companies, and one I wish we have in the...
