Warm & welcoming local shop and cafe, tucked on a side street in Downtown Martinsburg. They make an effort to offer quality local and American-made products that (IMO) appeal to proud locals and crunchy transplants alike. That's a rare feat in this day and age. I recommend stopping in and checking it out because you might be surprised by what’s around the corner!

ACCEPTS CREDIT/DEBIT: Yes

ACCESSIBILITY: The cafe is wheelchair accessible. Some of the walkways in the market are tight and may be difficult to navigate with larger assistance devices. I do not have any info either way on hearing and sight-related accessibility.

I stopped into Good Natured Market & Vegetarian Cafe on a Thursday afternoon, around 3 pm. I was the only customer in the shop, which was a shame because the staff and the atmosphere are both very welcoming.

Since moving from Phoenix, I've been looking for a store that could offer at least a portion of the bulk foods I could find at Sprouts. This place is it. The market had several foodstuffs I've been searching for, including Farro, Barley, Purple Popcorn & Wild Rice. They also sell bulk spices, as well as some pre-packaged, frozen and cold foods and condiments.

I look forward to getting back to try the cafe soon. I didn't have time to dine in when I stopped by, but the dining room and porch were just as inviting as the market. If the pictures on the other reviews are anything to go by, the cafe is a can’t miss local gem.

The Good Natured Market & Vegetarian Cafe is easy to miss from any of the main streets. It is located in a converted historic residence just south of King St on S. Raleigh, across from The Garage. It’s been there for more than a decade, but I just found it this week. I highly recommend you step in and “find” it...

This place is special.

If you want a memorable culinary experience, then you need to come here. First of all, Pam, the chef, is an artist. She KNOWS what she is doing. Most everything here she creates is to be savored. Pam combines tastes that are subtle yet distinctive. Normally, I don’t notice the textures of dishes, but here she has also worked her magic. And I haven’t even touched on the display. She uses the beauty of the organic produce to create a memorable experience.

My husband and I have been here a few times now, and it’s consistently this good. Our favorite is the vegan/vegetarian (you have a choice) Reuben. You’d think that a meal this good would cost a lot, but for about $14.00 you can have an entree with a side that you won’t forget. There is also an option to become a member where you pay what I consider to be a reasonable annual fee, which gives you 3% off of both the store products and meals every day, except for Tuesdays, when you get 10% off.

And the store! You name it, they have it. They have a beautiful array of fresh vegetables. Most recently, I picked up some nutty and sweet Jerusalem artichokes which I used to make soup. They also house a farmers co-op. There is nice assortment of new products that come through as well. Oh, and they have an eclectic assortment of beers and wine.

Finally, the staff. Hands down, they are caring and wonderful! This place is not...

Very impressed with the store - selection, prices and service are on point and it’s always great to support a local business. I saw so many of my favorites in the store, at the same prices I find them elsewhere but all in one place, plus many more items I’d never heard of. The seasoning room is special too. They have a nice selection of wines as well. Plus household cleaning items, candle supplies, fragrance oils and tons more. If you’re not eating vegan, they also have organic eggs and dairy products.

We ordered a Caramel Latte, Reuben and Philly Cheesesteak Flatbread which come with side salads, all vegan, and shopped during our wait for vegan items we haven’t tried yet. We bought vegan cheese, butter, cereal, soup, beans, noodles, bouillon and seasoning. When we finished shopping, our meals were ready and we enjoyed the latte on the drive home.

The latte was good, the meals were excellent. I’m so impressed they found such fresh produce for the side salads in December. Even though I’m not a big fan of tofu, I loved the Reuben and highly recommend it. The Philly Cheesesteak Flatbread was more like a chicken cheesesteak flatbread but definitely worth ordering. I felt so good after eating; it was obviously a nutritious meal and a generous portion. They were telling me how their nut burgers are freshly prepared each day with care, so I’ll definitely try one of...

Lovely little oasis in Martinsburg! Considering the prices, generous portions and beautiful diversity of greens and colorful veg on offer, this is the nicest place to eat in surrounding area, Hagerstown, Shepherdstown and Winchester. You won’t find the regional usual suspects of a giant plate of soppy romaine and a few sad tomatoes or olives. I’m not a vegetarian or vegan but the quality of the food is super fresh and really delicious — I crave the yummy veg and salads! Order at the register and food is brought to your table. The staff are helpful and kind ❤️. Espresso coffee is available! Lattes made with local whole milk, almond or soy. And the tahini goddess salad dressing is 💯‼️ Love, love, love. Great little grocery store as well, with some of the Whole Foods type brands and items that are harder to get in this relatively rural area (including soaps and rose water spray, etc.) Reasonably priced bulk items, like grains, nuts and spices. Gluten free items for celiacs. Great local beers and ciders, and a selection of wines. Some homewares like long-stemmed candles, french-presses, etc.

Wow! So this is what food tastes like! I haven’t even left the restaurant yet but it is so amazing I had to post a review immediately. These heaping salads were the SIDE salads that came with out Philly and Falafel. Chock full of incredibly fresh vegetables and strawberries. I could taste all the different flavors. My falafel was incredible. It had some sweet potato in it I think. Just delicious. The Philly was shockingly good too (I’m not really one for vegetarian “meat” but it actually tasted great!). The caramel latte and banana smoothies were not overly sweet - we could taste the other flavors (coffee, and banana and almonds). So impressed with this place. Lots of stuff to peruse while waiting for your food too (which did not take long at all). If this place was in DC where all the foodies are, it would be packed and I wouldn’t be able to afford it!

Delicious! Best kept secret in the area. The combinations of the flavors are divine. The chef does an amazing job creating seasonal menus with whole food products. The vegetarian cuisine caters to anyone- vegan, GF, dairy free - but even the meat eaters would leave satisfied. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere. We also took some lentil noodles home from the market and they were excellent. Next time I’m bringing the kids for smoothies and sweet potatoes. I love that I can come here with a family (or on a date night!) and feel like I am not eating fast-food….. and the prices are fair enough to justify frequent visits!
