New China Restaurant — Restaurant in Martinsburg

Here on vacation while my bf is working first night decided to order delivery from here. The food was good my bf said his was too, the second night he's at work i ordered from here again. My food came up to 21.77 which i had no problem with that. We don't use the credit card when we're getting delivery ever, with that being said i paid with cash. Food get here the young guy give me back ONLY 3 dollars that's it. I did give him a 2 dollar tip while trying to calculate in my head the exact change i was supposed to get back. Now mind u that i gave him a $20 and a $10, cause i only had one $1 bill the rest were 10's and 20's. I realized he basically stole $5 from me i called them back and asked about the delivery fee; because on their menu it says a 10 dollar delivery fee if over 3 miles. Other than that the delivery is free. The lady stated that i was charged a 2 dollar delivery fee so i asked about what the menu say she totally disregarded that no big deal i asked do we give them a tip or do they take it out. That's when she told me i was charged 2 dollars, i then told her i was supposed to get back $8.28 he only gave me back $3. She put me on hold then got back on asking did i ask for my change back....why wouldn't I. Yes i stood and waited for my change so i could tip the driver. She put me on hold again then a guy got on the phone telling me the delivery guy said i gave him a twenty and a five. I said he's lying because he know he took five bucks. And now you're trying to tell me what i had in my wallet. I had 2 twenties one 10 and one 1 dollar bill, i told the guy. Now if i had given him a twenty and a five i wouldn't be calling back now right. The guy then continue to say oh he said he said that's when i said i know what i gave the guy just bring me back my $30 and get your food because i haven't popped open the staples yet didn't touch it. He then say whats wrong with the food i said since you're saying i gave him a five instead of 10 and telling me what i have in my wallet come get the food or bring me my five dollars. I then said i can come get it, he told me no they'll bring it. And they're about to close it was 9:55pm they closed at 10pm on Tuesday, he said give them 15 mins. I said you close at 10 so you're gonna bring it after closing time. They sent the same guy back who STOLE my five dollars he then gave me a TOTAL OF SEVEN DOLLARS.... I told him i just wanted the five dollars that you took from me and you can keep the 2 buck tip. He said no u keep it with a attitude like he had when he pulled up to give me back my money. And stormed off,...... Now why in the world would he give me back the tip i gave him I'll tell you why. Because he knew good and well he took my five bucks. Costumer service is CRAPPY and very disappointing i ordered from them two nights in a row and the second was a very big disappointment. I then told my bf when he returned from work what happened and he said that the first night we ordered from them they did the same thing to him but i was in the shower. And he tends to let things slide a lot with food places and things like that which i told him that he shouldn't do that. If he let them get away with it they (generally speaking) they will think they can do it to everyone who do order from them. I will not be ordering from them again for the rest of my stay here. That's was ridiculous how they were telling me what i gave him like they were in my pockets. The delivery guy who STOLE my five dollars didn't want his tip because i guess he wanted the five bucks he STOLE as well. Sorry for you guy nice try find someone else to play, you tried playing me in your city and state but I'm not the one to try and get over on. I wont recommend this place to anyone as long as they have that guy working there or anyone who steal from the paying customers or think they have the right to pull out their own tip from your...

UPDATE: I am a person of grace. I am a person that would give chance after chance ( in other words grace) so, yesterday 9/23/24. I called into New China. I was placing a order for my family of 3. I was told if i order, i must come in to order. Well that would have been fine, if on aug 24th when i called in someone stated the same thing. but when i spoke to the owner, he said just call in to place a pick up order next time. Fast forward to yesterday, to my suprise being told i had to come in yet again. I was on the way to the resturant. I yelled "im on the way" i got there and spoke to the owner and asked "what is the deal with ordering a pick up over the phone" he asked for my number and lied in my face and said i never called them. I pulled up my phone records under their number. Asked him was this his establishment's number and he said yes. I showed him the times I called. I yelled and stated "yall wont be getting my money" i have to deal with my food being messed up cant even get a fork. I do understand they got rid of their Delivery driver because they use doordash and other apps like that. I'm only left to assume. They're making it difficult so that you have to use those type of apps. Mostly because the pricing on the meals are upcharged. This Chinese restaurant is a joke. I ended up at a chinese restaurant buffet with my son that evening. Oh and their dirty too. Just for the record I will eat there because it was like a lot of chinese restaurants in new york city. Where i grew up. The taste is similar. But their dirty. Its like eat at your own risk.

I order from this place often like 2 to 3 times a month. For the pass 3 years I've lived here. Well, whenever I get my order I never have a fork, napkins or enough duck souce. So I ordered today and requested a total of 4 duck souce and they said I have to pay for it .Idk how u are nickle and diming people really.. pay for packets of duck souce. that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I often order from New China just because they Deliver, the Prices are within reason & the Food is great. Well, for the first time I have that "Negstive Review". I placed the order for my Husband & myself. His Order: Bourbon Chicken substitute Fried Rice for White Rice. My Order: Combo Platter Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice & Egg Roll. Extras: Sweet Donuts & Extra Fortune Cookies Total Order $29.80 + Tip To Driver. Ugh!!!

I always ask for tender not crunchy Chicken as I have no teeth & I can only chew the Chicken if they don't fry the Chicken before they add the Sauce. And I've never had a problem in many years. Its always been very tender & would melt in my mouth. Needless to say, not tonight. Even tho I made my usual request about the Chicken, it arrived very hard & crunchy. I could barely eat any of my Chicken. And Johns Bourbon Chicken was dry & just didn't taste like the Bourbon Chicken we've come to love from New China. The Sweet Donuts were dark brown & clearly over-cooked. How disappointing tonights Dinner was. I have to say if I ever order from New China again, its going to be a while & it'll be a pick-up order where I can check the food before I pay...
