Wiley's New York Style Pizza — Restaurant in Mary Esther

We usually pick and plan all of places to eat dinner while on Vacation pre trip & try to eat local owned and try not to eat @ niche themed restaurants. This place was not on our list but After dealing with traffic all week just trying to get to point A to B all week just to get some food & just wanting some pizza I came across this restaurant on google and the good thing was it was in the opposite direction of Destin from our Condo which was a plus ! Upon arrival this place don’t look like much but in my experience of great food I don’t judge a book by its cover. Usually it’s these hidden gems that people don’t talk much about and are off the beaten path that are usually the best places to eat ! The dinning area was just a few tables and chairs and the same as the outside wasn’t much to look at but the service was outstanding from first entering through the door . Our waitress was very friendly helpful and patient with our party of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids)indecisiveness on what we were going to order . We ordered the Large Hawaiian with Jalapeños a medium supreme , meatball sub , 2 fries , antipasto, and a cheese slice ! Wow we fed everyone and have leftovers for a snack later & possibly tomorrow’s lunch! Pizzas are humongous & delicious. One of the best Pizzas I ever ate ! I conversed with the owner while eating and him making the pies and you could tell he puts a lot of pride into his food and that it’s made with love ! This is a great place to go if you just want to get a slice or two of pizza. New York style pizza is by the slice or by the pie. Basically, it's a cheese pizza that's baked, then you tell him what you want on it and they fix you up a couple of slices and put it back in the oven to bake some more. The crust is thin and a bit crunchy, and the pizza is fresh and tasty with your favorite toppings. Their lunch special is super affordable and will fill you up. Did I say lunch special? Actually I think it's available all day long. This is the most reasonably priced pizza and the best tasting pizza you will find in the Fort Walton Beach - Mary Esther area. On top of that, it's locally owned and operated, not a big chain. First time here for me; short version-f'ing great pizza and garlic knots! I had been stationed up in NYC back in 94ish time frame and learned about garlic knots from a mom & pop pizza place on Staten Island. Learned what garlic knots are supposed to taste like! Likewise learned what the NYC flavor of pizza is supposed to be...never really expected to taste either again. Had tried other attempts of knots from other places and always disappointed. Until now. Wiley's knots are spot-on! Lots of butter and even more garlic! And the pizza took me back to when I had been there at Staten Island. Lots of memories; both of the pizzas and other things.
