I ordered a salad and got no dressing. When i called and stated i got no dressing, the person asked " do you want to speak to the manager?". I concented. When i spoke with the manager. They asked if i wanted to drive back for it. (Who wants to drive back anywhere for a condiment?) Stopped there today after I was doing work at a local business. I asked my GPS where the closest food was and it sent me here. Gioia’s did not disappoint. I ordered the Spicy Daggett. Perfect crisp on the exterior of the bread with a nice buttery chew inside. The meat, cheese and giardiniera complimented each other perfectly. With the choice of meat, I really expected it to be a salty tasting sandwich. But that was not the case at all. I'm a native St. Louisan, and I have no idea how I didn't know about Gioia's most of my life when they've been around since the early 1900s. I found them about 5 years ago, and they have since become my favorite sandwich place in St. Louis. You have to order your sandwich with their grilled cheese bread, or you're just not doing it right.

I am a vegetarian, and even though most of their menu is catered toward meat eaters, their veggie sandwich is still very solid. I am still hoping that one day, they will make a plant-based version of their famous hot salami, so folks like...
